Sorry but I had to respond to this bc it seems like a shitty and self-absorbed take - who "deserves this"? D you realise that the people most responsible for this state of affairs will avoid the consequences? While the most vulnerable and least complicit will, as ever, be the ones expected to bear the brunt of the suffering? Somehow when you say "we deserve this" I get the feeling that you're not quite a part of whichever "we" is brutalised the most.
