Hey Gearheads!

I apologize for all the recent download issues.  I've reached out to sync, again, about the issue and am waiting on a reply.  I'll keep a close eye on the rest of the Friday releases for the month and use dual download links when using sync as the main.

We've had the Mega Archive since March, so there has been an alternative for the older content for a while, but I'll make sure Mega is getting updated at the same time as Sync for the newest releases.

If I don't get a satisfactory answer from sync and see some major improvements in stability and download speed then I'll be replacing them as our main download archive for 2023.  It still won't be Mega.  I know a lot of you like Mega and are familiar with it and from a creator standpoint, it would be easy to just use Mega.  The problem is, I'm not just a creator, I have lots of creators I follow as well and I would hit that Mega limit several times a week.  Then I'd have to sit and wait for that 4 hour, 8 hour or however long timer count down before I could start downloading again.  I got so frustrated with that, I just paid for an account so I could download stuff from my favorite creators without the bandwidth limit.  It wasn't much different from buying extra gems, diamonds or whatever in a freemium game and I don't want you guys to have to deal with that.

I've mentioned it before, but there are a lot of new people, so it bares repeating.  I've spent countless hours researching cloud services and have tried all the common ones at one point or another along with several uncommon ones.  I also take note of how they treat me and other creators when it comes to controversial content or false claims and take that into account when choosing one.  In my early days, Mega pulled one of my releases due to a false claim and when I tried to appeal it, I didn't even get a response back.  The main reason Mega isn't and will never be the main is the whole account could get shut down at any point with no notice, explanation, or appeal process and you guys would have to wait for me to re-upload everything somewhere else.  I'm sure you guys have seen just that happen to other creators.  I know I have more times than I can count.  It's especially fun when they have that message up saying "gross violation of terms".  It's like come on, they're just boobs, lol.

GoFile had some speed issues when I checked them out earlier this year, but they have stuck around and seem to have a pretty solid system.  I'm going to be testing their current speeds and have reached out to them for more info on their improvements and plans for the future.  They also seem to be smaller, i.e. more low-key which is better for adult content. PixelDrain has a similar setup so I'll be looking into them too.

WeTransfer is also high up on the list.  I've been using them all year to transfer large files to other creators for commissions and collabs.  They are great for speed and large files, so they would be a good option.  They seem to be more corporate though so while they're T&C don't forbid adult content I could easily see them washing their hands of any adult creator causing them problems, which is why I'm leaning more towards GoFile, but WeTransfers speeds might make them worth the risk considering we're more of a mid-sized community.

That said, if you guys have any suggestions (and made it this far 😜) throw them my way.  The transition isn't set in stone and I'm always on the lookout for something better.  I've also checked out places like Streamable, Webmshare, Catbox, AnonFiles, Getuploader, Uploadir, Lewd.se, Sendviv, White Cats, and Icedrive, to name a few, lol.

Something I did for content that kept getting pulled in the past, is to make it into a password protected compressed RAR file. It's worked very well in the past, but If I how it would affect the quality of your content by compressing then decompressing it. You may be able to get away with an encrypted zip and share your unlock keys via patron or on discord if it becomes too much of an issue. I know how annoying cloud services can be. Edit: Fixed things auto correct messed up.

Some people are using google drive. Seems to work good for me

Thanks for the suggestion. I did try google drive for a while, but they aren't ideal for scary reasons. For one, they have a hard bandwidth limit where when it's reached, no one can download the file anymore unless you do this crazy work around. The other issue is if they deem your content problematic and shut down your account, then you lose everything associated with that account. Gmail, Youtube, all the other accounts that you use gmail to verify with to get access to and so on, so it puts a lot at risk.

Yea, that's def a good method for the more niche/fetish content and we aren't quite that fringe. It also adds an extra layer for patrons that can get pretty annoying for some and confusing for others when they can't figure out how to unlock rars. Great for pirates though, lol.
