Hey Gearheads!

I don't usually drop messages like this, but this one was worth spreading.  I love virtual desktop and I only use a fraction of it's potential.  At some point I plan to game with it more but right now my ideal way for viewing local VR videos is as follows:

Headset: Oculus Quest 2
File Location: Computer
Quest 2 App: Virtual Desktop
PC App: Whirligig

I've tried a bunch of other apps and what I like most about Whirligig is I can not only swap between the main viewing formats, 3D/VR, Non VR/180/360, but I can also fine tune it for the occasional odd format, so if I wanted 210, np.  I can easily tilt for the most comfortable viewing angle. I can use the mouse at the computer or controller with virtual desktop to skip back/forward in the video and since I can remap the controls however I want I can use any of the 3 different skip lengths I want.  It also has 3 different media encoders making it easier to play difficult files as well.

There is a sidequest version of Whirligig, which checking just now seems like it's been updated recently, so I'll have to look into that.  The last time I checked though you couldn't stream video to the app, which is why I still use Virtual Desktop.

Aside from my main use case though, it's great if you want to quickly check on your computer to see the progress of something, mouse control is actually pretty decent.  And of course, you can play your PC games.  I've been meaning to play Boneworks this way, but haven't gotten around it to.  I've tried it out though and I much prefer a wireless PC gaming experience to a tethered one, but Airlink has never worked well for me.

I’ve never tried whirlgig but I use skybox which I think has all the same features you’ve listed.

Heat Seeker

I also use skybox

Give it a shot. I've tried Skybox and there are way fewer features and customization.
