A little while ago we ran a poll about the future of Anthro Content on VRA and the majority of you voted for it to stay integrated with the rest of the content. However, there was an interest for separate branch so I've decided to do both.

There were multiple factors for why I decided to proceed with this and I think for transparency sake it's better if I go on and lay them out for you.

1. I think one of the greatest aspects of VR is getting a semi firsthand experience of something that would be impossible in the real world. The more unique the better, so anthro characters play right into that, but I've been holding back on anthro content to make sure what I do put out has a wider appeal. First it was just anime charcters with some ship girls thrown in. Then mostly video game characters. Now it's as balanced a mix as I can do with the current resources available. Being able to more regularly release Anthro content would be a lot of fun for me.

2. Cost. Since I do this full time, I'm entirely dependent on your guys for my livelihood and greatly appreciate your support. So I'm always looking for opportunities to provide more for less and still have enough to live off and fund projects. From those efforts we have a free VR video every month as time allows, free weekly 3D videos, half price tiers that periodically increase in available slots, the introductory tier with over 150 VR videos from the main archive and much more.

Anthro VR is another one of those opportunities. Right now we have about 75 anthro releases under our belt and an additional 5 featured animations with Anthro characters. So it's definitely enough to branch off, though it doesn't come close to the VRA archive. However, because it's separate it allows me some additional freedom. The full Anthro Archive (included Featured Anthro) will be $5. I'd like to see how fast and how much we can grow it. If we can grow it to a comparable size to VRA, then that'll prove the potential and I can further adjust the tiers on VRA accordingly. So it'd be win-win

3. Not putting all my Eggs in one basket. We've been dealing with waves on craziness in the lewd space for a long time. Tumblr's NSFW ban, Patreon's many rule changes to adults content, Paypal freezing peoples accounts, Credit Card companies pulling the plug, since a ripple effect back through support and sales platforms like gumroad, legislation resulting in statewide site blocks, craziness at twitter and on and on. All this to say, how knows what tomorrow holds, but if Patreon finds something they don't like on here or twitter, it'll be helpful to have alt sources of income going incase they freeze VRA.

---------------------

So what does it all mean?

  • Nothing changes on VRA. Previous Anthro content stays in the archive, continues to be released once a month and will continue to be an option for Community Choice characters.

  • Cheaper option for the niche. If all you want is the anthro stuff or money is tight, you can get access to the full anthro VR video archive for just $5.

  • More Anthro Content. There will be weekly releases on VRA and AVR. So while things will stay the same on VRA, there will be twice as much content coming out overall.

  • Niche community involvement. I get lots of recommendations for conversions of other animators content. By separating it out, it'll be easier to show them previous conversions to get them on board for future collabs. It'll also open to the door to a wider range of characters that are too niche for VRA.

  • Rollover. If you just stay on VRA and see something on AVR that catches your attention, you can let me know and I'll bump it up in the queue for release on VRA. After all it'll take 4 months on VRA to get through 1 month of AVR content.

  • Hedging. Ideally this'll protection for anything crazy happening with VRA as well as add additional opportunities to make VRA even better.

Is there anything there right now that's not on VRA currently?

vranimeted

Yes, there's a multi angle MLP release that came out last Friday and another coming out this Friday.

I’m just new to this patreon thing, am I only just paying 5$ for just a month specifically to see the vr animations

vranimeted

Only on Anthro VR, since the archive is smaller and because I'm trying something different out there. Here the VR video archive is 3x the size, has way more featured anims and all the previous gaming content from the last 8 years, so full access is at a larger pledge amount, $20 for the regular tier or $10 for the limited promotional slots.

I'm a little frustrated about this decision.

Could VRA members get a preview of the AVR content somewhere? Even if it's just a short .gif of the video.
