process & psd - smooch (Patreon)

process gif for smooch! also a psd. you'll need adobe photoshop.. or some other program to view it! thoughi don't know if the .psd file will work properly outside of photoshop, as it has some layer effect bullshit going on.

ANYWAY the .psd file will show you how messily i use layers!!! i had to resize it a lot cause my .psd files get QUITE HEAVY (been up to 700mb) but it ... it's maybe an interesting look into my work process? which is to say: MESS

basically i start with a sketch, slap base colors on it. this much is easy and simple, and pretty clean in my layers. but then i start painting.. and i make frequent new layers as kind of "savestates", as in.. to paint without feeling like i can't go back and easily erase it. i can have literally up to hundred of these "savestate" layers that are all like a bit of the entire painting process. i sometimes use layer folders to tidy things up, but most of the time it's just all in an endless list of Layer 1 Layer 2 Layer 22 Layer 60 Layer 81 Layer 81 Copy Layer 81 Copy 2 ETC ETC...

though the GOOD part of my process is that i'm able to make these gifs because of it!! cause when i hide layers, it ends up showing the workflow (though not necessarily in the EXACT same order as i drew them, as i sometimes hop between many layers and make new ones under the old ones etc..
