2023-04-13 07:08:20 I think the song was ok as well, but I think the issue we're having with R&B right now is that it all feels so low energy. It's like the artists are doing the bare minimum, unintentionally of course. We got it; slower beat, maybe some dancing, and that's it. It feels like there's no personality. There's a reason some of us could vibe with Keyshia Cole, Fantasia, Danity Kane, Cherish, Rihanna, Janelle Monae, etc. R&B is a part of their existence (that sounds corny, lol), and doesn't seem like a side hustle. Even Ella Mai's first album had BOPS when she came out with Boo'd Up and that was 4 years ago! It was cute and catchy while sounding modern and hitting certain beats. I think the new girls (Chloe, Normani, Ryan, etc) are struggling because they are trying to be revolutionary -without- doing what worked first, or are not doing enough. Hopefully they can make something that works because I want to be able to turn on the radio to some new R&B and it not be from something that was 5+ years ago.
