I remember I posted a comment like months ago saying it was the culture. I’m not saying it to be mean or rude or to give them any excuses for anything but because it’s just true. When I saw the girls dance outside their groups they can “fuck it up” better than then do when they are with their groups. And just from studying the culture it’s because they don’t want girl groups to be like sexy/fuck it up sis, like we do in the west, I mean they have their sexy concepts and dance moves but it’s usually always toned down and that makes it look boring to us, but it’s not because they don’t have talent necessarily, it’s literally because that’s what the culture demands of them. Female idols talk about the differences between them and male idols all the time (usually ex idols because they won’t be penalized for spilling tea) and the freedom they have when dancing is one of those huge differences between male and female idols, groups especially.

2022-01-25 16:35:08 The thing with kpop is that many girls will be talented like lisa or momo. Yet twice has members that can move cuz they were kpop trainees for like 4 yrs but still are not natural dancers like momo,momo was a dancer before joining a label & training to be a kpop idol. So the members that can move,can do certain dancers fine but still lack in technique or are stiff, momo is a dancer before she chose to be a kpop idol and so she dances with skills he learned from a teacher and peers ,she is a natural dancer if that makes sense. Funfact-Momo is Japanese too not korean lol. Momo is super talented and twice has a few other naturally gifted dancers but the rule in kpop for the girls is that they have to smatch their members on stage for synchronization and image, even if that means that the best dancers have to tone down their performance. The two members in twice with the best stage presence are momo and jihyo. Jihyo has a memorable look like momo, jihyo is the main vocalist and leader of twice. She was trained for a whole decade which is why she is a strong performer and if u see their stage, she be hitting it. Momo and jihyo are super strong on stage but girlgroups have to hold back cuz their labels complain if their dancing doesn't look balanced. So the best dancers have to balance their members on stage even though it means they have to hold back on their skills. But jihyo and momo go off lol, twice is just an overall huge group, but in CRY FOR ME on kelly Clarkson,jihyo and momo can be seen clearer since the camera pans in on them closer. Lots of kpop girls would shine more if their labels handled them the way that they handle boygroups. Instead, the girlgroups have to be clean, robotic, and pretty. Even on stage the girls cant get too sweaty or do gritty concepts.
