I think part of the reason the women aren’t hitting as much as the men is because Korea (and pretty much everywhere) have this image of a woman being very dainty and cute as oppose to sharp. And I think that shows in the dancing because you’re right, the men are given much more detailed and just overall better choreography because they’re masculine and the woman are supposed to be portrayed as cute and there ARE some female Kpop dancers who truly shine in their solo dance videos (like Lisa from Blackpink or Momo from Twice) as they can’t really show that in their perspective groups because of the image they are supposed to upkeep.

Look at you! Knowing Asbestos logo and Taemins face okay den Dee fuck it up! 😂 let me stop. Soo this is just my guess but I would guess it’s a cultural thing about why the men dance better, by our American standards, than the girls. Girls are supposed to be more reserved and timid and/or sexy and/or cute, not like hittin it hard and fuckin it up type of dance. Though there are some girl groups that do that and even some solos artists, but overall it’s mostly what you’ve seen or like waaaay more cutesy.

The reason this song in particular has more switch ups than usual is because it’s actually two separate songs (Monster & Infinity) that were merged into one single song (which is why it is called One). Definitely throws people off with the key changes and everything lmao but it’s a cool concept that no other company in Kpop has done before. There’s only one other song like this in Kpop which was done back in 2012 by the same company.

Yeah, I had a feeling you wouldn’t like the beat changes in the song but since it was mostly in English and visually interesting I thought I would give it a try, but thanks for reacting anyways.

I would agree with yall that it may come down to cultural differences if the kpop girls were doing extremely basic, reserved choreography but they're not... they pop their asses, move their hips, etc. so they're not trying to be dainty and reserved at all...they're just STIFF af and can't dance lmao 🤷🏾‍♀️ my opinion

Yeah like Vanessa said this is a combo of 2 of their songs (Monster and Infinity). Based on how you felt about the first part of the song in terms of the beat, I think you would definitely like Monster cause it keeps that same beat throughout song. There’s no MV for that one tho but just my thoughts. Thanks for giving SuperM another chance Dee. Hopefully someone suggests a song of theirs that really hits soon

I get that. I think you’d have to see like the trainee process as well. Most of the boys can’t dance or didn’t know how to dance. I saw you mentioned that in a recent BTS video how Namjoon was looking stiff, it’s interesting because Namjoon and Jin can’t dance. Like they are both naturally stiff and horrible 😂 they had to train soooo much to be able to keep up with the rest of the members. And even then you’ll almost always see them two in the back of the formations for the choreo. But the training process for these idols is damn there child slavery/abuse for them to churn out these results, child. Anyway the point it, is when the girls are going through their training they are learning the choreo in a stiff way because that’s the way they are being taught because the women should appear a certain way. Especially as groups. But let you get one of the actual dancer girls solo, and she can kill it kill it, but in her group you be thinking “damn is that even the same person dancing I JUST saw fuckin it up a minute ago?!” But j agree I wish the girls could step it up more. I watch some of the Kpop tv shows like audition shows where they make groups or make idols and the dancing they do when they are competing is so good...then they get in the groups and it’s like...wait what??

deeshanell

Yeahh Monster was cool, they could keep that other song lol but no prob, I'm trying to be open minded to what people request :)

i agree with the other comments. I feel like a lot of it has to do with the societal perception of women which impacts how they're trained. the comment above mine details it better! there are a few groups and particular songs that come to mind when I think of more intense girl group dances and dancers that deliver, so if I save up some money I'll recommended them to you! it's a shame because I agree that they do have a lot more basic routines, and it's really doing girl groups in general a disservice.

Leah Clayfield

lmao you’re so right tho dee idk why people seem to think it’s for some other reason. koreans praise passionate female kpop idols that dance with intensity..that’s what anyone would want to see

Ree

Dee I be thinking the same damn thing. That’s why I’m not that crazy about the girl groups.

RBGTalk

I think maybe the reason that guy's dances are more impressive most of the time is because they're more free to do mature choreographies, where as the girl groups have to do dances catered to more "youthful" demographics. It's messed up I know

LiddoSim

I agree Dee LOL I'm not a delusional kpop fan so I can admit that the girls cannot dance nearly as good as the guys
