Rooster Teeth is a company operating out of Austin Texas. It was founded by a group of fanboys who yanked assets from Halo and ran their own shows with them. (Red Vs Blue) Eventually as their fame grew they were able to hire their own artist(s) Including Monty Oum, these artists created the wholly original show called RWBY. Because of the largess of the original content creators they "borrowed" from and artists like Monty Oum who were willing to work for a whole lot less than they were worth Rooster Teeth was able to live the dream. Do what almost everyone including myself dreams of doing.

Enter Machinama artist - "W&S MMD" - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCkQYnyP2iPUWfzjHoRMBWKA - He loves RWBY, and specifically, he loves the character Weiss. He likes to make Miku Miku Dance videos of Weiss dancing around in various little outfits. -  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dq9BnA6JARI - W&S MMD has a following of about 30,000 people. A commendable sum and though he doesn't charge his fans anything in so far as I can tell, one way or another they are likely helping him pay rent.  

Attorneys from Rooster Teeth have sent him a cease and desist letter for his totally lawful fan art. They have also abused Youtubes infrastructure to serve him 30+ "Take down" notices on his videos.

This is a violation of trust, flagrantly hypocritical and while it might not strictly be unlawful in the criminal sense, Rooster Teeth would likely be bent over a barrel in Civil Court should W&S MMD choose to take that route.

In all seriousness. The founders of Rooster Teeth are probably unaware of what their bored attorneys are doing and frivolous cease and desist letters like this are the hallmark of unskilled attorneys looking for increasingly desperate excuses to justify their overtime pay.  I suspect that W&S MMD is going to be fine, and that the Rooster Teeth founders will tell their flunkies to focus on more important matters than MMD videos.

That said it is a gloriously thin premise for us to take a strong stand in favor of Artistic Freedom, and Fair use and incorporate bondage DID into our grandstanding
