Hello!

Sometimes I get caught in a cycle of the same movies, books, activities, and whatever else. If you also suffer from this, I hope this small collection of recommendations can be of some help.

P.S. These are obviously just things I like and if you don’t like them too, then that’s absolutely a-okay ❤️

Movies/Series:

Good Omens 2:

The gayest show of them all. We’ve got lesbians, we’ve got gays, we’ve bureaucratic nonsense. It feels a little like fan fiction, but in a very pleasant way. Easy, digestible, and filled with ‘aw’ moments. Camp angels, even camper demons, romantic tension and the fate of the heavens and hell. Tuck in!

Evil Dead Rise:

M-mommy?! Sorry. Mommy?! If you like beautiful women being possessed by evil forces which then make her try to kill her offspring, you’ll like this one. The two lead actresses in this movie are amazing! Beautiful, charismatic and ready for a fucking fight! Home invasion, hot evil lady, badass auntie protecting her nieces! LET’S GO!

My Name is Chihiro:

A touching movie about Chihiro, an ex-sex worker navigating her new life in a small town in Japan. Lots of complicated side characters, a fully realised protagonist who isn’t sexualised to death, but given respect as a person, and lots of wholesome moments between unexpected friends. A lovely little watch. It’s a movie that takes its time, doesn’t really come to an exact judgement on anyone, and really embraces its slice-of-life genre.

Fruits Basket:

Fuck me! Just fuck me! This anime! This manga! It broke me and I loved it for it. It’s beautiful, it’s corny, it’s sickly sweet! It’s everything teenage me and now approaching thirty-year-old me needed! Follow Tohru Honda as she navigates the loss of her mom, high school, and the fact that her new roommates are possessed by the spirits of the Chinese zodiac animals. It’s fluffy, it’s haunting, it’s absolutely one of my favourite anime’s ever.

Music:

Heavenly Kind of State of Mind - Lewis Capaldi

Therefore I Am - Billie Eilish

UNHEALTHY - Anne-Marie (feat. Shania Twain)

Skin and Bones - Morgan St. Jean

Daylight - David Kushner

National Anthem - Lana Del Ray

I’m Just Ken - Ryan Gosling

Ragnarök - Peyton Parrish

Enjoy the Silence - Depeche Mode

Activities:

Bedtime Yoga:

As the most inflexible person on the planet, bedtime yoga has been a relaxing and helpful surprise. It’s super easy, it releases tension and definitely gets you in the mindset to close your eyes and rest. There’s loads of YouTube videos on the subject, and I personally really enjoy the 15 minute ones - just enough time to relax, but not so long that it feels like a chore.

Cozy Cardio:

Exercise doesn’t have to be intense or boring or even epic, exercise can be whatever you want - including cozy. Mm-hm. I said what I said. I found the concept on instagram and it’s full of guys and gals who like their movement on the comfy side. So, stick on some Gilmore Girls, light a candle and hop on your rickety little treadmill. For the best results, where comfortable, baggy clothes to help you relax and not feel like you’re gonna develop a yeast infection.

To clarify, I am absolutely not hating on anyone who likes to dress-up, look fierce and take on an epic work-out. I actually think that’s really cool and I’m glad you’re doing what works for you. I just personally like my exercise on the more casual side.

Decorate Your Home:

We had a lot of rain here a week or so ago, so I decided it is now Halloween. I know, the basic bitch is strong with this one. But honestly, summer is not for me. I am not built for heat. And more importantly, it just made me really happy to get all my pumpkins, orange cushions and broomsticks out. I like what I like and I know what makes me happy. We have little control over most things, and that’s why I think it’s so important to cultivate the the atmosphere you enjoy in your home. So, make your space as you want it and enjoy your small little speck of the world.
