Hello!

Sometimes I get caught in a cycle of the same movies, books, activities, and whatever else. If you also suffer from this, I hope this small collection of recommendations can be of some help.

P.S. These are obviously just things I like and if you don’t like them too, then that’s absolutely a-okay ❤️

✨TV Shows/Movies:✨

All of Us Are Dead (2022):

Horror, high school and zombies! Follow a group of classmates as they desperately fight to survive the zombie apocalypse. Fast-paced with strong characters and even some well-executed humour - All of Us are Dead has a lot to offer horror and drama fans alike.

Interview with the Vampire (2022- Ongoing):

I’ve recommended this show before and now it’s time to recommend it some more. Season 2 just finished and sweet-suffering-homosexuals, it was glorious! The angst, the betrayal, the gays, oh good god, the gays! Heartbreaking acting from the entire cast, uncomfortable, ugly feelings of jealously, rejection and loneliness, all squished together like teeth sinking into your poor little neck. If you love to get hurt by fictional people, you must give this a try.

Vampires, romance, and the innate desperation to be loved by our parents - it’s all here, folks. Go get it!

✨Books:✨

Kim Ji-Young, Born 1982 - Cho Nam-Joo

Miss Kim Knows and Other Stories - Cho Nam-Joo

Both books explore the everyday lives of various Korean women. Whether they be high schoolers, wives, mothers or career women - the stories explore the everyday sexism and humiliations expected of female life in Korean culture - how it has been and how it is slowly changing. Real without enforcing melodrama, honest without bigotry - a very insightful read.

Music:

Wuthering Heights  - Kate Bush

Zombie - Peyton Parish

I’ll Make a Man Out of You - Dan Vasc (And Company)

Family Tree - Ethel Cain

Absolutely Everybody - Vanessa Amorosi

Don’t be Stupid (You Know I Love You) - Shania Twain

Gemini Feed - BANKS

Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me? - Taylor Swift

Bet on It - Peyton Parish

Activities:

Swimming:

I recently got a swimming pass. I haven’t been for a while and I decided the scratch needed to be itched. Whether you get a pass or pay as you go, it’s a great way to get some mental stimuli and body movement. I’m not the biggest enjoyer of exercise, but I do recognise the many benefits it offers. As such, I’m trying to find different ways to keep my mind contented and my body working.

You don’t have to do lengths, set a goal, or even go consistently, just give swimming or some other exercise a-go every once in awhile.

Live More, Think Less:

Essentially, get out of your head as much as possible. Go for the dang walk, call your friend, get coffee with your mum and dad. The mind can do wonderful things, but it can also be a bloody burden. I am incredibly guilty of just sitting and getting lost in the black tar of my brain. And whilst we have to accept that sometimes that’s just gonna happen, we must also acknowledge that we have the power to challenge our brain. We can move, we can communicate, play and explore - we don’t have to accept the cycle. It’s incredibly hard, but sometimes it’s necessary.
