Hello!

Sometimes I get caught in a cycle of the same movies, books, activities, and whatever else. If you also suffer from this, I hope this small collection of recommendations can be of some help.

P.S. These are obviously just things I like and if you don’t like them too, then that’s absolutely a-okay ❤️

✨TV Shows/Movies:✨

Turning Red (2022):

A funny and refreshingly honest depiction of how embarrassing being thirteen is? Yes, please. Meet Mei Lee, a perfectionist teen on the verge of puberty and all that that entails - which for Mei, may or may not include turning into a giant red panda. I always love teen movies that depict teenagers as teenagers - not as sexy thirty year-olds, but as awkward, cringey adolescents just trying to navigate puberty.

Mary & George (2023):

Gays, lesbians and period costumes? Sign me up! Mary & George is based on the real life tale of Mary Villiers, a noble woman who raised her son to be King Charles I new favourite at court. Cunning mothers, sharp-witted queens, and deliciously dark humour - it’s got everything an English period piece could hope to offer. Julianne Moore is so good in this role.

Primal (2019):

A neanderthal and a T-rex become each other’s found family. With practically no dialogue, Primal uses visual storytelling to wrench out your heart and make you say ‘please, sir, I want some more’. If you love dinos, dads and unconventional friendships - you’ll adore this.

Bridgerton (2020):

When I tell you that I turned into a teenage girl when season 3 dropped, you need to believe it. Pomp, romance, lust and a good dash of nonsense. Bridgerton is a tonic for the weary and romance-starved. Pure fantasy, pure mush, pure excellence. Also, the music is brilliant.

Music:

Don’t Cry for Your Daughters Eve  - Lydia the Bard, Ben Tomalin

LUNCH - Billie Eilish

Bags - Clairo

Call Me - Shinedown

Edge of the Earth - The Beaches

Good Luck, Babe! - Chappell Roan

Come On Eileen - Dexys Midnight Runners

I Look in Peoples Windows - Taylor Swift

Activities:

Nature Bathing:

I walk my dogs every morning with no headphones on and it’s a really lovely, quiet time just to let yourself be a mammal. I spend a lot of time on my phone or in front of a screen and so the simple act of unplugging from devices is a welcome treat. It’s just time to listen to the wind, feel the sun or the rain and remind yourself that - you’re just a mammal and life will be what it will be.
