Possible side characters? I'm hoping if I churn out a bunch of them I can work out the framework of a story between them. 

I don't like typical fantasy races like elves and dwarves, nor Sexy Blue Aliens in sci-fi, but I also feel like I shouldn't restrict myself to just humans if it's a SF/F genre. So maybe this world can have Cat People, Bird People... and I guess that makes humans Ape People, lol.

I picture the cat people as non-sexually dimorphic aside from their fur.  So they don't concern themselves very much with gender presentation.
