Yup, this is a great and productive use of my time.

It doesn't have to make perfect sense, but I guess the same amount of sense as Pokemon typings and stuff. But it allows for comedic situations, like creating an explosion using a banana and a sponge.

Not pictured: ultimately, magic still has to obey certain laws of the universe.  If a farmer uses water magic for watering crops, the surrounding area suffers from a drought. The Prince's kingdom (full of magic users) is likely an oasis in the middle of a barren wasteland suffering from magic entropy. So magic can be as destructive for the environment as tech. It  might even be destructive for the user...

That's pretty much the way Terry Pratchett envisioned magic. Yeah, it could give you whatever you wanted but then it presented the bill and it was always more than you could afford!
