So when I started this Patreon several months back I researched many different patreon accounts and consulted with a lot of different people about how to set mine up to work best for what I want to do. Now that it's been going for about 6 months I'd like to hear from you, the patrons, about the set up. I want to make this patreon be more satisfying for everyone supporting it within my capabilities and I welcome any constructive feedback that can help make that happen.
As far as the payment setup goes, would anyone prefer it to go on a monthly basis instead of per page? I avoided per month initially because I knew there would be breaks in between comics which would mean there might be some months where no comic was posted and I didn't want to charge people for any time where no art was produced. If I were to switch to a per month basis, I'd still post pages weekly but the breaks in between would get longer; however I'd fill in those breaks by uploading more progress work and streams showing the process. This might spoil some of the content in the comics which I was worried about but it would be an extensive amount of art in many different stages coming your way. If this sounds like something you'd want as opposed to the current model, please let me know.
I was also thinking about trying to implement more patron involved areas, such as regular raffles and elections. One of my stretch goals involves raffles but I don't expect to reach it any time soon and I would change it around from what I'm proposing.
-There could be a raffle every month where you could win a pin-up or sketch depending on your rewards tier. The winner would be able to chose any character they'd want a picture of (as long as it fits in my commission guidelines)
-Instead of me just randomly deciding which comic happens next, I could have two-three proposals for comics and let patrons vote on which one they want to happen next. (this would mean longer breaks in comics though because they're not finished before posting)
-I'm also planning on doing some parody and fan art comics based on established properties. So things like Legend of Korra or Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles could get comics, plus the return of my parody comic Bikini Space Police(based on DC characters).
These are all things I'd like to implement, whether I could do them all regularly or often would depend on how well the patreon does since the less I make from this the more work I have to do with other jobs. But even if I didn't make a ton I'd like to make these things happen with some regularity.
And I've also gotten complaints about the rewards available for the different tiers but no suggestions yet for bettering them. As much as I'd like to offer personal art/commissions to the rewards it unfortunately isn't feasible for me to pull off. That's why I offered higher-res art of previously finished work and some never-before seen artwork, but I'd might be able to pull off creating new finished pieces for higher tiers (they just wouldn't be individualized per patron). If you have a different suggestion on rewards I could offer for tiers I'd love to hear them. Keep in mind if the patreon changes to per month the rewards and tiers would probably change.
I can't thank you enough for those of you who've stuck in there with your support and commented and liked on the posts. I'm by far no expert at patreon but I appreciate you all and want to make this account the best I can to show it.
Thanks Again!
