In this comic you can see Emma get a little "frightened" when the sales clerk approaches her. Emma has a lot of social issues and anxieties and you see the girl manifest as some sort of weird creature. This is kinda a metaphor for her anxiety and fear of others brought to life. Emma changes for a moment after that and well... yes Elara took over for a minute to get Emma through it.
