Changing to Pay to Pledge... Thoughts? (Patreon)

So... I was thinking of changing my Patreon page to pay to pledge. What that means is that when someone pledges, they have to immediately make a payment before they can join. However, I am not sure exactly how or if  this would affect existing Patreons. I am going to do a little research into that...

Anyway, the reason I am thinking of doing that is because I notice a lot of people pledging then deleting their pledge like 30 minutes later. Which is annoying and seems a little unfair if they are just looking at stuff then leaving.

Is this a good idea or a bad idea? I am not familiar with Pay to Pledge but if I can get it, I think it might be good to use.

This is definitely a good idea as it's the only way to prevent people from ripping you off.

Definitely, I fully believe that you should set it to Pay first.

I for one think it's a great idea. The way it is now is like a trial and they can leave whenever. I did it one only because i did not have the funds at the time but i do now. I will continue funding your work because for the quality and detail of the animation and art. Keep up the exceptional work Agent,looking forward to your future work.

I agree that you should do everything you can to stop people from ripping you off. I also want to say though, that I think you should keep at least a small example of your work free so potential patrons can have an idea of what they will be getting for their money. There have been several patreons that I myself have been interested in by their description but have chosen not to support because I couldn't see any example of the quality and precise nature of their work. Just something to keep in mind.

That is a good point... I do plan to do a "intro" video that will be safe to put on my main page (nudity free)... that should kinda help I think.

The die hard fans will keep you going, don't be discouraged about those just jump in just to review content and leave. Like many have said, when it comes to 3D animation, your style and work is one of the best on the market. It's comical, voice acted, and it has a very passionate artists with a very supportive community behind it. Personally I think you found the passion and gift within yourself that is unique to you and that you should be given the opportunity to express it and gain wealth and happiness from it. :D Rock on!

Makuren is right. I knew you were putting a lot of time into this as it shows in your work but 12 hours is crazy. But that's just another reason to make people pay up front as nobody has the right to sign up and then delete their pledge before paying when you're investing that kind of time & effort. In fact I'm not aware of any other artist on the entire web who's doing what you are in terms of content & quality and to quote a famous Tina Turner song I think I can speak for everyone here when I say, "You're simply the best, better than all the rest."

Don't be ashamed of getting some money up front. You can always have some teasers available for free.
