Bad news: It's supposedly the middle of winter, but this is Texas, so we're back to 75 degree heat.

Good news: I can walk my dog again.

Anyway, I have a problem. It's a sort of writer's block, where I have a lot of character notes and plot ideas and worldbuilding set up for these two projects--and if I don't use them there, I can use them elsewhere--but since I haven't used/not used them, I *can't* use them without placing myself in danger of repeating myself.

So, I don't know, I thought I'd put it up to a vote, or rather, a commission. These are both pretty straight, serious, R-rated works rather than the NC-17 Bone was, so don't expect that. But, given some of the projects that have gotten funded here, maybe they'll catch on.

One is military sci-fi, somewhere between a harder-edged Star Trek and Star Wars as told from the perspective of the Empire. It's about a starship captain who gets caught in a time loop. This one actually has a bit of a love triangle. There's the estranged wife, played by Salma Hayek, and the ship's intelligence officer, played by Jenna Coleman. But there's also powered armor, starfighters, and capital ships. Everything a growing boy needs.

The other one is fantasy, although not the sort you'd recognize from Tolkien and Howard. Rather, it's after some thousands of years of advancement. Magic is commonplace, used for everything from bows that never run out of arrows to carriages that drive themselves. The humble barbarian has been left behind by this social progress. But when a hordes of orcs, armed with crude steampunk technology that makes them a match for magicked warriors, launches an invasion--maybe it'll turn out that berserker rage is still in fashion.
