Got my first commission for what'll probably become Book 2 of Bone. I'm going to try something new here, which is posting the first draft here month by month, then cleaning it up and betaing it and making a final draft of it before I send it off to the self-publisher (myself?). Also, I won't start posting until the end of next month, so there'll be plenty of time to buy the current book, read it, and be ready for the sequel.

I don't know, I feel like I've got a lot of strong material to carve a story out of. I've done enough general research to have an outline, but now I'll work on fleshing it out, both storywise and in terms of research. I generally play somewhat fast and loose with historical accuracy, beyond a general post-Civil War timeframe (because who wants a lot of cap-and-ball action, amirite?), until such time as I find a historical event enthralling enough to nail down the timeline. I'm not there yet, but we're around the point where Bone & Co. can run into the Apache war chief Victorio, who had a warrior woman sister named Lozen credited with supernatural powers. So, if you don't think that's getting fictionalized, you're crazy.

Lozen gonna be a Shaman Rider or something? Marvel introduced a Ghost/Demon Rider around that time btw https://marvel.fandom.com/wiki/Kushala_(Earth-616)
