The Acid Report - June 1st, 2022 (Patreon)
Content
I can't believe it's June. It almost seems as if I clawing up my icy driveway yesterday.
I want to give a shout out to Adam, Will, and Matt for covering the reading group in my absence. As a chronic workaholic who claims to be anti-work, I afforded myself six or seven days of detachment from my projects. I think I have a high threshold when it comes to burnout, but it's more likely just I've occluded my burnout sensor over the years. No matter the case, I was able to meet Will in person for the first time during my break.
Of course we have noticed that during my repose that Acid Horizon has achieved 500 patrons! When we started the podcast, I recall mentioning that it would be nice to have 25-30 reliable supporters. We do not take your support for granted. Thank you for making a contribution to our project, which continues to grow.
I also wanted to celebrate the great success of our episode with Stuart Kendall on Zer0 Books. He has mentioned that he is willing to join us again in the future. Stuart is an incredible asset to folks interested in our research areas, and we are lucky to have him in reserve.
Reading Group: Adam has passed me the video recordings of the recent reading group sessions and I will post them later today and/or tonight. We will also likely record a wrap up episode on 'Apparatus of Capture' to encapsulate some of the insights that we shared.
June Reading Group: We will continue with ATP by jumping backwards in the text to the plateau "How Do You Make Yourself a Body Without Organs?". This one is sure to be a hit. We will do at least the first half of the plateau, but perhaps we'll post some ancillary readings within D&G's corpus. I think it is helpful to look at those other places where they discuss the BwO, especially given the different ways they formulate the concept. It might be worthwhile to consider how the BwO in ATP has been cast a bit more conservatively than in AO, for instance. Anyway, I'll post details on the future engagement next week or so.
If you have been supporting us at the highest level, your patron gift will be available this month. Hop on over to crit-drip.com to select the t-shirt, poster, or mug of your choice, and I will send out the selection form later today or tomorrow.
Other news: we have some great interviews in the works, and Gary Genosko has reached out to us to propose a series of episodes on Guattari's Chaosmosis. This year marks the 30 year anniversary of the release of the text. We also have an episode on destituent power and Adorno/Moten in the works.
Once again, we appreciate you lifting up this endeavor. More good things to come!
Sincerely,
Craig
