Here is our latest episode! In a day or so, there will be another early release for patrons only. Be on the lookout.

In this episode, Craig, Matt, Will, and Adam return to Deleuze’s essay on the society of control. There are some crucial questions to ask: What is the nature of control? How does the control society differ from the society of discipline that Foucault identified in his work prior? Are we living in a control society, or some kind of hybrid? This work is short, but dense. The gang reflects on just how prescient some of Deleuze’s descriptions of these new technologies are. It is all to try to get to one simple, but essential question: What tools of resistance are at a subject’s disposal under a society of control?

The conversation about debt made me wonder, have any of you engaged with Debt: The First 5000 Years by David Graeber? I know that it's more anthropology than philosophy, but I think you would find it interesting if you haven't checked it out.

Nice work on the reading. I recently returned to the discussion episode, and thought folks might find this 30 year retrospective interesting: https://socialtextjournal.org/periscope_topic/control_societies/

Great episode yo! That part about two tiers to society was interesting. A prisoner and a Denny's manager are just both serfs with varying levels of privileges. The two are 100x closer to each other than they are to the true 'haves'. The folks that can park a small yacht in their larger yacht and fire things in the space for a laugh.

Went back to this one to try and start playing catch-up; really just wanted to say how much I enjoyed the music at the end by Sereptie. If you know them personally, please send my regards!

Has Acid Horizon been taken off Spotify by y'all?

Yeah. I actually didn't want to be with them in the first place. The Rogan fiasco simply reminded me of how poorly they pay artists, not to mention the CEOs copious investments in military technologies.
