Some details on the Temple of Fertility - their devotees, the Sisters, are split into two roles - "Emissaries" (the dominants), and "Attendants" (the submissives). Claire can choose which track she wants to go down following this initial mission.

High Sister Rose is an Emissary, but she is the one inducting Claire into the ways of the Attendants via the bathhouse she manages. If the bathhouse scenes were already performed (if you took Rose's invitation to join the Temple), well, then she has other tricks up her sleeves... ;)

High Sister Lily is an Attendant, but she is the one who teaches Claire about the role of the Emissaries.

Peony's role is that of an overseer. In seniority she ranks above both Rose and Lily. And she flirts with being both an Emissary and an Attendant.
