Apega - Concept Art (Patreon)

This was the original concept design for the villainous Apega, based on her appearance in "The Main Event? Enter the Prima Arena!" from the first Danger Zone One novel. 

Apega, known as the "Iron Maiden" in the Prima Arena--an underground fight club--was envisioned to be a uniquely different type of villain than what Reena and Madison would typically face. 

Her outfit and character design borrows from some of the flashier wrestlers of the 1980s, with a nod to Japanese women's wrestling--Joshi Puroresu--greats like Devil Masami and Dump Matsumoto. However, Apega's personality is more in line with the iconic over-the-top WWF "heel" wrestlers of the '80s era, notably Randy Savage and the Iron Sheik. 

Apega's outfit was designed to be revealing, while also showing off her athletic figure. The black and red colors were chosen to give her a "darker" more menacing visual appearance, as opposed to something outlandishly colorful. Her hair was also one of the earliest design decisions, with her bangs always covering one eye, to relay an  air of mystery.

Perhaps, in the near future, Apega will appear in the Danger Zone One webcomic, either in a new story, or an adaptation of the novel.
