The following is an excerpt from Addiction & Prevention Journal, a bi-monthly publication dedicated to exploring the habits that lead to drug addiction and their prevention. [Article originally published one month ago.]

The Euphoria Crisis

Aptly named, Euphoria is a highly-addictive drug that gives its user intense feelings of pleasure—culminating in a euphoric high that greatly heightens an individual's carnal desire, sense of arousal, and sexual urges. While taking Euphoria, some users have described the level of intensity during pleasure-related stimulation to increase by three or four times.

Banned in nearly every country, Euphoria is generally considered a “white-collar” illegal substance, due to its high cost. Taken in liquid form, Euphoria affects the ventral tegmental area of the brain (the so-called “pleasure center”). Numerous users have cited that, during their early interactions with the drug, they found themselves completely overtaken by sensations of lust and an “uncontrollable” drive to have sex or masturbate. Users who frequently took Euphoria (several times a week or more) generally had more control over themselves, though the intensity of sexual pleasure while on the drug was still reported to be much higher than average.

Noted side-effects of Euphoria may include convulsions, seizures, heart attack and/or stroke in certain individuals. Prolonged usage could lead to paranoia, mental instability, and aberrant behavior, including violence, sexual frenzy, and/or death.
