I felt the moment team lucifer performed that theyre indeed so SM coded and worth to be in this show but i must say they dont feel that neo-ish yet but i believe 1. They soon will the moment this show is done and when theyll be preparing to be official nct tokyo and 2. Vision dream and 127 have diff vibes anyways so

For NCT standard, yes I agree they still lacking but if we'll actually look at them as normal trainees they were impressive imo considering that most of them are only a year or less trainee! They're all vocally stable, SM really have a great vocal trainor. He's so nice and good. The harmonization of their voices wow and I love their vocal textures. The dancing is also good. But ofc, yes I'm also worried about their stage presence since like you mentioned, they were still stiff. Here's the thing, for me SP is easier to fix rather than when you're lacking in vocals and dancing because for SP I believe it comes with experience so the more they perform on stage I'm sure they'll get it they just need more time. But if the case was they were lacking in vocals and dance that needs more time for them to fix and it's harder. It's actually a lot more pressure for them because they're joining an established group with 7+ years experience in the industry, it will be hard for them to keep up. I just hope they do well. I'm already loving all of them. Great job for their first group performance! 👏🏻💚 PS: SION and YUSHI really stood out. Their years of training is showing. They just need more experience so they can be more confident. I love SION's voice he kinda reminds me of Jaehyun too. 💚

I think theyre still lacking position for main dancer who actually really can 'dance' like in 127 we have taeyong, in dream we have ji-sung, and wayv there is ten, they are superb line dancer in nct. But in this I havent seen any trainees yet who's really stood out the most in dance like I think yushi is more like center and visual like jaemin in nct dream not a main dancer, I don't know about anderson maybe he will become if he debut with more learn and practice of course. I love sion attitude, he's literally the typical SM leader, can't wait seeing him being a leader in new nct unit. I think jungmin is definitely going to debut, beside his great vocal, I mean look at the amount screentime he got, its a lot 😁

Thanks Jeff for reacting to this video. I totally agree with you. Apart from Sion, I feel that they are quite anxious while watching their performance, especially Jungmin which maybe because he basically needed to sing all the high notes in Lucifer. I hope (and trust!) they would improve in this aspect soon. Can't wait to see the next episode.

I feel like everyone is just so nervous about the unit! Especially with Riize now debuting, you just can’t help but compare (Started to think SM shouldn’t have aired this show and introduced riize at the same time). For now I think, Jungmin and Sion were the standouts from the first group. But more work needs to be done definitely. The dancing was great and the vocals were stable but the presence wasn’t there. It’s like they’re giving everything and nothing at the same time 😭

Btw, SM announced that the Tokyo team will have 28 pre-debut showcase performance events in different cities of Japan from October 8 to December 20. Together with the training that they received since they recorded this show earlier this year, I think they will definitely improve a lot in terms of stage performance by the time they debut.

100% agree stage presence is a lot easier to fix. they really just need more experience and some good coaching for that :) also my lil sis said the same thing about sion reminding her of jaehyun haha

i agree. yushi seems to be the one being pushed as main dancer but yes if u compare it to predebut nct members like ten & taeyong, there’s a difference. let’s see if he shows us something more in the future! another thing is maybe they’ll be more vocally heavy than dance heavy? i mean everyone can dance here, but just no main dancer vibes (yet).

Yes, there will be 28 shows. I think this demonstrates SM really wants to properly promote them in Japan.

is it just me, bc I really like the show😭😭 idk if it's just the excitement but I'm really looking forward to the rest of the episodes. I'm also really rooting for the trainees and I really wish they do well during and after the show. I'm just hyped ig😅

Jungmin got my heart!!!! I want him as my son lmao 😭 His awkwardness and vocals are his charms. Plus he reminded me of Jonghyun singing that intro during their rehearsal. That took me completely by surprise and made me tear up 😭

hearing taemin’s feedback about making cover as if it’s your own song, reminded me my first impression that i got, when i watched nct dream covering miracle by super junior and no.1 by boa for the first time, i was impressed of how they made those songs look like it’s theirs, these 2 covers are still one of my fav ever also, honourable mention dream’s growl cover too back in we go up era i think growl is very hard to cover, bcs this song is a huge hit and has its own identity and everyone saw exo doing it for millionth time(i’ve watched so many exo’s growl stages😭😆) so it’s hard to even get close to original, BUT dream once again did a good job to add their colour to it as i was writing my comment, i also remembered nct covering sorry,sorry when they just debuted, it was soooo good too🤧 and i realised how nct were so good as just debuted idols and we have seen them as smrookies too, they did quite a lot of covers pre-debut, but they looked like complete idols

when i first watched this ep, i thought that ryo didn’t shine much too, BUT now i realised they didn’t show him doing his other like 2 vocal parts except the 1 part we know🤦🏻‍♀️ i can read hangeul and someone was doing quite good vocal parts and on the screen they show lyrics with who sing what part, it was ryo, they just didn’t show him there, that’s why i was confused, when vocal coach said that ryo and jungmin got a lot of vocal parts and that he’s glad they did great, bcs i thought ryo got only 1 vocal part😀

Ok so… I literally had palpitations while watching team Lucifer lol they were all so stiff and they looked stressed and it felt rushed which is why I couldn’t fully enjoy the performance (vocals are definitely their strongest point). Sion is for sure the best member so far and the only one who looks ready for debut imo. I don’t know what SM was thinking about with this… I see the potential but I don’t think they’re ready yet. Most of them have really short training periods and I don’t get why the more polished rookies are debuting in another group lol. Also yeah when comparing them to riize (atleast what we’ve seen) and even other trainees in different survival shows they aren’t up to par. But, I’m hopeful that with these performances they’ll be able to loosen up and gain more experience to look like they actually enjoy being on stage haha. Also Jungmin’s vocals just wow Istg he needs to make it. So far I’m enjoying it but I expected more.

i mean its no sorry sorry but u is still a pretty famous song in korea so i'm not that surprised they picked it for the mission! also i don't think they were singing when they showed the performance to donghae hahaha that was definitely heechul's voice you was complimenting 😂😂

I haven't noticed I was holding my breath during the performance until you mentioned it but SAME lol! About Sion and Yushi, imo Sion is clearly ready. Yushi on the other hand has some points for improvement... I don't think I would've noticed him this much if he didn't have sooo much center time (to be honest, it did bother me a little, felt like he was being pushed). But, as you said, the concerns about presence and facial expression will sure be something they will improve on maybe even before the official debut. The Jungmin cut after the performance was so wholesome to me, kind of heartwarming idk. Looking forward to what else he can show in terms of performance, 100% rooting for him to make it to the final lineup. Also anxious to see the vocalist of the second team, though totally forgot his name xD he left a strong impression in the earlier episodes. Thanks for the reaction, Jeff!

Yushi reminds me of Lay in EXO up till before Call Me Baby. For a long time Lay's facial expressions in performances were not really an idol but a dancer's. He is my ult in EXO but I was constantly praying that it will click in him to flirt more with the camera a bit more and it took him 3 years :') They both have the same perfectionist vibe but Yushi is even more introverted, so I really hope it doesn't take him as long XD Jungmin's voice is great but I felt that he was so worried about the vocals that he seemed a little distracted at times, not just his body (which I can understand he needs to conserve energy) but his eyes drifted a little. Sion definitely seems the most stage-aware and intentional in his expressions, and prepared for live stage. Also I love that he has such positivity and warmness radiating from him but yet able to be a bit cheeky while at the same time leading the rest. He reminds me of Suho. I can totally see him being a leader. Agree that considering the competition on the market for showmanship among newbies, they are really stiff. But SM's edge over every other company even till today has always been kickass, attention-grabbing live vocals. It's what we trust SM for out-of-the-box, and everything else comes together in time. I don't know why I keep thinking about EXO instead of NCT, but I think the trainees so far just give me more EXO trajectory vibes. Which is fine because they are a subunit targeted for Japan, a totally different market with a different taste.
