Super extensive review of 'In Bloom' it felt like a podcast episode haha. 

UPDATE: Need to clarify that I do think the entire album as a whole is GREAT and I agree that the album concept fits the boys. What I meant when I said “I don’t think they fit their concept”, was that the nostalgic instrumentation on their title is more on a trend rather than who they are in comparison to NewJeans whose whole concept is Y2K/nostalgia. I love the vocals on In Bloom but my reservations are on the melody and instrumentation ON AUDIO ONLY but when it comes to that point, it’s subjective. My charting comparison of In Bloom (to Say My Name) was mainly from what I saw on my feed news-wise but I’m glad that I’m wrong and that the song is charting really well. This is *separate* to the album’s achievements as a whole which I’m aware of. I love watching the performance of In Bloom itself because the visual, vocal and dance aspect of it is top notch. The rest of the songs on the album is amazing and I love them!

I think I'd like to see KstarNextDoor Pt2 first since the song that Taerae, Zhanghao, Jiwoong, Matthew, and Yujin sing at the end is so good and they sound amazing! Especially Yujin! I was so surprised by his vocal skills! And of course my bias Taerae left me speechless with his vocals!

I would also like to recommend the 1theK 4Cut Live Video they did! It’s basically just them dressing up in really silly costumes and singing realllyyyy well. Amazing Saturday will air tomorrow so it probably won’t have subs until a few days later, but that show is always a lot of fun so I definitely recommend watching it at some point! They are reallly doing a lot of variety shows, they also did a show on YouTube which aired today and already has subs. I’m confused by you talking about the numbers when they are doing extremely well everywhere from what I have seen. 😩 The Spotify numbers are great. They are charting extremely well in Korea….especially for a boy group. The views are great on YouTube for a debut group. Even people who don’t usually like boy groups are talking about how much they love the song. It has gone viral on twitter multiple times now.

I would recommend Kstar Next Door part 2 first then 1theK 4Cut (both have vocals segment I know you will appreciate) then Hal Myung Soo or ZB1 FOLDER 1-2 since they are already subbed. K909, Amazing Saturday have not yet aired so subs might not be available immediately, there's 2 pre-show segments for Amazing Saturday but you can watch that together with the actual episode. Also fun fact: Zhang Hao actually has a very good lower register most of his pre-BP singing vids were him singing in lower register yet he has never gotten to show it off (fans were actually hoping he would've been able to show them in his solo song).

I completely disagree with you wow. It’s fine if you don’t like it. But you know this song fits them so well. And most reactions I’ve seen talked about positively. They’re vocals are amazing on it. And yeah numbers one they’re doing more then amazing. Ives seen even non fans love it. So I just don’t agree with you.

Totally respect your opinion on the title track! It definitely was a grower for me, and now I really like it. I think it is fitting for a title track (bright, upbeat concept I had expected!) and I'm so so glad they had NKOTB as a second promoting song (which reminds me more of Jelly Pop!).

I personally really like in bloom as a title track but I definitely feel like the mv didn't really capture the song. Tho I feel like this is the best wakeone could have done with the short amount of time they had to release the album so the best is yet to come haha. And with the numbers they got for their album sales the budget will most likely increase

oh i know the album is doing well. i was really only talking about the title track (like charting in comparison to say my name) and i agree the concept of the whole album is very them! but i guess like others have mentioned the title is doing well and it hasn’t made the news to my feed. so i’m glad for the boys! i know i’m in the minority about this title alone but definitely supporting the boys!

i haven’t seen news on my feed unlike when say my name was charting hmm i’ll have to update the accounts i follow lol. i follow mainly zb1 accounts on twitter so idk why i don’t feel the viral effect but i’m glad it is! i’m definitely on the minority but i’m so happy it is doing well!

I will say I disagree, I personally find In Bloom to be very refreshing, not because of the nostalgia factor, but because all of their top peers right now (Ateez, TXT, Enhypen, SKZ) are putting out very dark, sexy and mature concepts, so it's just really nice to have a popular boygroup with a bright fun sound, and I don't necessarily think it's fair to compare their views and charting with groups like EXO, Dream and New Jeans right off rip lol I mean it IS a debut after all but they have been breaking tons of records I mean their album is already the 2nd highest sales for a debut album in history surpassing H.O.T and In Bloom is actually charting on multiple sites including MelOn which is a feat in of itself for a boygroup these days lmao. BUT I still am very glad that you are very honest with your thoughts on the song

Oh i 100% agree that their concept fits them really well and I mentioned in other reactions that i want a bright concept for them which this is (so yay!). my main reservation is on the title as a song, not the whole album hehe. my comparison was only for say my name in terms of charting but i guess it didn’t come across clear enough. also for views on the mv, i’d say newjeans’ debut whom i mentioned here had a huge debut last year as well especially not having any teasers. the ateez, exo dream comparisons were for the music only (which is according to my music taste), not charting/views. but i’m very glad that i’m wrong and that the title is doing really well! i know the album is! 🥳🥳

I honestly really agree with you on the title track, it personally lacked a big impact. It was nice and uplifting, but not something that I would see myself listening to on the daily. I actually before New Kidz on the Block over In Bloom. Either way loved your reaction and thank you for being honest about your opinions over it.

i’ll have to agree with you as someone that only stanned ateez and then found zb1 and was the first group that caught my attention since ateez i will have to say their music isn’t my type of music or it doesn’t necessarily stand out expecially coming from like ateez’s music .. but i will say they’re the first group to get me to like a bright and happy song i do enjoy this song and comeback but i do agree it’s not one that completely stands out to me but i’m still so proud of them .. i know alot of people like it and like it’s different then the hard , dark stuff other 4th gen is putting out but i do hope maybe we get to see how broad this group can be because i know they have the talent to do any type of song.. definitely excited to see the future tho and still will be a second ult group of mine !

I agree with you, I have been a long STAY and ZB1 I felt like is the only group from a survival show that I love and felt extremely excited about. I guess I had big expectation for their debut album and title track. But it didn't just clicked for me. With all the hype, magazine and shows they've been doing even before debuting I guess subjectively made my expectation bigger. And just coz I know what they can all do, choreo and song wise. yeah.. Well people have their own taste of music so.. I hope their next album would be more them.

i would do kstar next door first as it is the oldest, and it also has an amazing vocal section at the end that went viral for a few days (right before debut too, it was great promo!!) i also felt the title was underwhelming before i saw it with the choreo but i think it is the fault of the music video. it just is not that good, yes it has budget but i feel it does not match the song well. also, the weird choices they made with the song's mixing and autotune also sort of ruin it for me considering the vocal capabilities zb1 have. i much prefer watching the stages or listening to it alone rather than watching the mv. new kidz on the block, if made to be a bit more epic, would have been an amazing debut in my opinion but considering the concept they're going for + in bloom's meaningful lyrics i do understand their decision. taerae is my ult as well so i have been enjoying your reactions for the past few days !!

I would definitely recommend watching k-909, they also had an interview with boa there and gunwook hanbin duo doing 99 second singing songs on the charts. Also they did And I performance live on k-909, it’s so good…and then hao playing the violin too! Side note: as a gunwook biased hehe…I’m so happy he’s making it slowly into your bias line 🥹💙

While I can agree that In Bloom kind of lacks that defining impact or wow factor that really should come with a debut, it's kind of funny how opposite our taste is when it comes to ZB1 😅 In Bloom has been on repeat for me so MUCH like I fell in LOVE with it very quickly, and while New Kidz on the Block is fun and catchy enough, I actually grew tired of it in just a few days 😭 It's still a fun song, but I really prefer Back to ZEROBASE, In Bloom, and even Hao's solo Always to the other songs on the album. Super interesting how different our opinions are, but that's kinda the fun in watching reactors, I suppose~ As always, super appreciate all the content on ZB1~! 💙

I adore the album, tho I understand the criticisms towards the title track. It is however, good enough for debut imho. As you said, they probably had this track in works for months and just fitted to the group that won BP, regardless of the members that would be in. Other songs are great tho, I have the same feelings for the intro - "Back to Zerobase" is very emotional and filling soul with hope lmao. I like NKoTB, esp the performance is so much fun. "And I" is probably my favourite? "Our Season" is good, just not that much my taste? "Always" is nice but I thought it could have been even better, Hao showed off vocals but melody is kinda generic for me, also its short. Kinda sad no violin (tho he played it on k909). I felt it was also "pre-made" aka if Hanbin would have won BP for example, he would have still gotten that song. Funny thing, as a casual Haobin enjoyer, I find it funny that in most songs they are usually singing one after another. Which is great, I think their voices are distinct enough, yet fitting. I was surprised that Yujin had a decent amount of lines overall (for a member not known for vocals from BP). I think its very promising for the future, I cannot wait to see his voice and skill develop over time. Honestly, maybe its a bit early to talk about a comeback since they just debuted, but hey, temporary group things, need to churn out most music they can over 2.5y? But I do have a belief that comeback will be much more suited to their color as a group, with the VR concept they can go pretty much ANYWHERE. Taking into consideration the massive success of a debut album (did you see the news? "Youth in the Shade" became best-selling debut album of all time by kpop idol group in 31 (sic!) years since Seotaiji and the Boys (from 1992)) - I hope Wk1 reinvests the money and give them fabulous 1st comeback. The boys deserve it!
