First elimination!

Ah I'm glad we're continuing with Peak Time! Honestly I've been even more into most of these teams since the show ended, excited for finishing up the series here. I do think the atmosphere in this episode was solemn too, I think the difference with this and Produce/Planet was also that this is literally a show which is essentially a last chance for all of these groups to strike it big. The only other similar shows I can think of so far are The Unit, which was individual contestants rather than teams trying to get their name out there, and maybe Road to Kingdom but those groups were not literally on the verge as most of these teams are. So I can see why everyone here was taking this so seriously, it's literally a make or break opportunity, for both the newer groups who come from very small agencies with little opportunities (with the exception of Team 05:00 I would say) and especially the older groups for whom this is the last chance to get together and to try and make it. The show seems to have given most of these teams a good enough boost though for now, which I'm very happy about! I've been really endeared by all of them, though I wish we could have seen more of some of them. I'm glad they had the first round of eliminations fairly late into the competition though (not counting that thing in the very first episode where some teams were sent home without being shown at all). The mixed unit matches with everyone getting to participate really helped so many of them highlight their talents much more than just doing one round of performances I feel. All that maths with calculating the weightage of individual votes and then applying benefits etc. really got me lol, I didn't understand it until the rankings were announced. Personally I think benefits played a really significant role here and that always does have a bit of an uncomfortable feeling when it can change ranks so drastically. But I do think it's still a fair process because getting the benefits itself is a feat, they worked for that too. And the second round benefits ended up being as evenly spread out as possible with three different teams getting the three possible benefits. So while I feel for some of these teams that didn't receive benefits (Especially team 18:00 who I was hoping would do really well! Been rooting for these three since Produce X 101) I'm kind of happy that it worked out the way it did. I do agree that the editing could be better. I don't want Mnet levels of drama and I enjoy the more laid-back and wholesome vibes here, but I think they could be much more fast-paced about some of this and show us the behind-the-scenes stuff in more detail because that's what really endears people to the teams in addition to the performances. I think the whole idea of just using the team numbers rather than the names is also hard, especially for some of the larger groups where not all of the members have been given time to shine yet so it's hard to recognise more of them at a quick glance. The team compositions and numbers aren't very easy to follow, though I do think it gets a little easier over the course of the show.

the guy from team 24 left because of a bullying scandal (someone from his middle school? posted online claiming to have been bullied by him) he denied it but decided to leave the show anyways i guess not to bring the whole team down

kjleexxvii

Team 13:00 (BAE173) was not below 8th place in the beginning. They were 7th actually 😅.

Jenn BL

I actually stayed subscribed to watch this until the end!

i’m glad i’m not the only one that feels this way about the editing. and yes no need for drama, it’s really just the pace and writing. also yes the numbers are hard to follow. i’m always looking for face markers on who tf is who hahah.

Jennifer

He denied it, left the show and even sued the person who claimed to have been bullied by him.

jinkichimchim

so happy for team 2 😍😍

jinkichimchim

i agree about the 24ks red haired guy xiwoo is his name i think. he definitely needs to change group or company he's extremely talented and it seems like he's waisting his precious time there. he is the maknae too so...

So glad you're continuing this! I agree eliminations were a little all over the place but in general I enjoy the more laid back feel of this show and the general lack of drama editing. I also think it gets a lot easier to follow starting in the next episode with less teams, teams having their own unique songs, etc. Hoping you'll finish it out.

We totally understand why it was late, don't worry about it Jeff! Honestly I didn't have a problem with how it was edited but I get what you mean, I feel like it's might be because it's JTBC first time with an idol survival in opposition to MNET or MBC which are channels accustomed to this tyope of show, especially MNET. Taking this into account, I think they do a great job because it's not easy. One thing I just have with the show, as much as I think it's cool giving time as name for the concept, I still think it's not the best decision because the system might be hard for some people and also it's not like people won't recognize their favorites groups. (Fun fact : On Twitter, a korean said her dad was into the show so he made a whole ass board with the groups/members etc to remember) Team 23:00 will perform in ROUND 3, they leave after that. For TEAM 24:00, they actually get along, last round it was just a clash of opinion but it got resolved. Hyunjae left because a bullying scandal came out during the show, he decided to leave because he didn't want to bring harm to the team/show and because it would take some time. From the latest new, he denied and sued the one who accused him, he handed several testimonies as evidences (from school’s students and teachers, to policeman and truth verifications from the Sinan Office of Education). That's all we know for now. Someone really explained well why the atmosphere feel solemn. For the groups who were eliminated, they were able to record the songs for ROUND 3 so if you want to check them out, they are on PEAK TIME Spotify. JTBC also released the preparation stage : 1) DIGNITY - REZERO : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GJKBgSxyd5k&t=63s They were invited to perform at the TOP6 concert during the last day at the start 2) ATBO - TEXT ME : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ul29AfsXGB8 3) BLITZERS - S.O.D.A : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eK0vwMOIJH0 4) BDC - Thunder : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-tVBt7qt3-M 5) 24K - STEP BY STEP : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TY2p-fFecYA 6) BXB - HOLA : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dVe3u-luBX8 They also released a performance version (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-4KlFD6EiN0) I knew BLITZERS because Youngjae from B.A.P (Jongup teamate) were their MC for their debut showcase so I watched it. They released a new comeback MACARENA, you can see growth in comparaison to their others comebacks even their first days of sales got higher from their last comeback who was 6,292 to 21,304 for their new comeback. ATBO released their new comeback NEXT TO ME three days ago, it's soooo good, I don't know why people don't tune in. It's seem like the company is a bit messy I won't lie between Weekly going to QUEENDOM PUZZLE, VICTON disband (?), THE BOYZ at least do well BDC have so many good songs, I feel like out of all the groups in PEAK TIME, they have one of my favorites discographies, their titles tracks are my totally my taste. Really wish more people would tune in. 24K, I didn't know if since the change of lineup they released musics, went to see, one MV was released but it isn't that great. I respect the decision to not change the name because Changsun explained the reason but I still think it's hard for me to get into them, because i knew all the originals members and I knew them with a totally different style. Changsun who I mentionned is in the group TAN (WILD IDOL final groups) so he doesn't appear on PEAK TIME. BXB were the one I was rooting for the most because as they explained most of them debuted with the group TRCNG and I have a serious problem with loving groups from the agency TS ENT, they were one of my favorites groups but bc it's TS ENT, I always end up heartbroken. They are Jongup juniors, you also saw their senior Euijin from SONAMOO on THE UNIT (blond, I think she ended up 1st for the girl. They are the group who got mistreated both physically and mentally as I talked about it. Taeseon who was TRCNG leader and one of the member who sued the company tried the soloist audition in PEAK TIME by singing ASTRO song but didn't get in (you said he was cute back then), so he ended up in FANTASY BOYS. TRCNG was such a good group, Kangmin who is now in BXB was my bias (he also did WILD IDOL with Gunwook and Kamden). I really hope BXB get to shine at some point. TRCNG had members with talent but TS ENT being TS ENT they wasted so many potential. DIGNITY was the only group I didn't know about or didn't heard the name so I ended up searching, I like their song RAMBO I think. I will keep a eye on them in the futur. Also TEAM 7:00 (the duo) ended up signing in DIGNITY company so same agency as their youngest members Luo. Team 11:00 also signed a 3-year management proxy contract with an agency. The agency will assist themwith record production, promotion, and various other matters related to management. The company in question is KLAP ENT, they are a new entertainment branch of the game company NCSOFT but they are also known into the entertainment business because they are the one managing the fandom platform UNIVERSE I think. You are totally right about them being friends, a lot of them grew close, some met to do TIKTOK challenge, they talk about each others in Instagram live or IG Stories quite a lot, Team 15:00 being big fan of Team 8:00 always posting about the banner they see about them. I don't spoil the TOP6 but some of them posted behind videos and they are attached. Just when you see the end of the concert it's so funnn. Also you didn't remember much of TEAM 15;00 but I will just say, Taebeen one of the member gave vocal lesson to some trainees from BOYS PLANET like seunghwan, ichan, gwanyoung, hojin also FANTASY BOYS. Seunghwan posted a lot with him on instagram with him. They did SEVENTEEN Super challenge together and even EN GARDE (https://www.instagram.com/p/Crna_hwr3po/) To finish, Won't lie to you, ROUND 3 didn't make me jump, the performances are okay but they will not be WOW still love the songs, I listen a lot of them on Spotify. I will also warn already, TEAM 14:00 (the team that you like) for ROUND 3, they have performed with members who were sick, some had fevers at that time.

Shanmc324

I have been waiting to watch this with you. So, I'm glad you started watching again.

Emily Howell-Forbes

I will say with 24K with their performance on the finale, I started to see the vision with the rest of the members, so maybe they just need a little more time. But agreed that time they need isn’t fair to Xiwoo who is ready now and seems to have a faster learning curve and I think has a wider range of concepts he’s capable of.

Emily Howell-Forbes

I really wish BDC had gotten to perform their 3rd round song in the 3rd round, we finally got to see them really shine in that imo.

Star Galaxy

Yep, still here! Thank you for continuing this. Even though the show has finished already, I would love to still hear your insights on the performances and comments on industry-related stuff! They’re very interesting! I feel like I’m learning something new every time I watch your reactions☺️

strikeapose

i have been waiting for this for soooooooo long

I think this show truly had the potential to be the best survival show out there. It's strength doesn't rely on exaggerated drama about miniscule decisions but rather the desperation each team had towards their dream. I feel like a big mistake of the show, however, was not including more variety content and not letting us learn more about the individual group dynamics. I think a special episode showcasing each group and how the members interact within those groups would have created more fans and made it easier to remember who was who. I also don't think splitting up the groups into a, b, c, or d team so early on in the show for a whole round was smart because while it highlighted certain individuals it did make it harder to remember who belonged to each group. Also, I'm not a huge fan of the new songs they gave to the teams, as a lot of them sound like dated 3rd or 2nd gen songs. Even with the issues I have with this show, I am happy I watched it. It's like a more respectful version of The Unit. Also I am going to beg once again that you watch Wild Idol. It's probably the fairest, well-rounded survival show out there. There are evaluations on singing, dancing, and rapping where those skillsets are the only things focused on and industry professionals evaluate and give actual advice. I can genuinely see you enjoying watching the show and being interested for the sole fact on how the mentors interact with the contestants. Plus, wouldn't you want to see how Girl's Generation Hyoyeon, or p-H1, or Lia Kim gives advice???? THE Lia Kim of 1 Million Dance Studio??? Of course strength, modeling, dancing while rapping or singing, team work, and other factors are evaluated too. Please watch it Jeff I beg you.

jeffavenue

great points you hit there regarding the show. ill reserve judgement for the new songs. I actually wanted to check out wild idol when it came out, idk why I never did. I'll see when I finish peak time cause I know street woman fighter s2 is coming in august. will depend on what content is out after peak time (like if theres anything that would come out and would usually be prioritized). it's definitely not off the table!

24k is a complicated case. The name itself has actually been used since 2012…however all the original members left. Changsun the leader joined in 2016 but he is currently promoting with TAN. The rest of the new members started in 2019. For some reason they kept the name 24k. 😩

Doyoungismyult

Blitzers are incredible. Their debut was INSANE. I was shocked at the quality. They also have the cutest dance practice room. They have cartoons of themselves on the wall that they hand painted themselves. 🥹

Are the rest of the episodes coming soon? ❤️
