This is my dream top9 lol even though I have some picks that not in here but we need to form a TEAM and I want THIS top9 as a team. But from my experience watching survival show, I know all too well that the final lineup is gonna be so different from this 😭

I’ve been waiting for your reaction simply because of the last 10 minutes 😂 when I watched it I was like JEFF LOOK AT OUR SONS 🥺🤣 I mean it’s a wrap these 2 need to debut together 😭 there’s also a super cute behind the scenes from Matthew and Hui they know each other from back when Matthew was at cube as well and I’m like ugh my heart!!! Don’t separate those 3 😅

personally i would switch out a few of them for other trainees (i'm rooting for gunwook, wang zihao, haruto, and wumuti!) but it's a pretty solid top 9 so far. it will probably change pretty drastically though as the voting number goes from 9 to 6 and eventually one picks because certain trainees like jiwoong have a strong core fanbase while matthew is generally liked by everyone, but his one pick power is weak atm.

LMAO the "top" comment caught me off guard as well, but this is a solid Top9 in my opinion. I want Gunwook, Wang Zihao, Haruto, and Taerae in the final lineup as well, but like you said at the expense of who? There's so many talented trainess it's hard to pick. I do hope my boy Jiwoong makes it though, as a bl stan I gotta support.

Honestly I wouldn’t mind this top9, talent wise I think they’re a pretty good batch ; however I’d like to see Taerae and Gunwook in this lineup and It’ll be perfect for me

I‘m happy with everyone in the current top 9 lineup. But I also really, really want Park GunWook and Wang Zi Hao to debut. Mnet should definitely consider increasing it to an eleven member group. Now I have to somehow choose six out of eleven of these trainees to vote for this week. I’m definitely voting for Park GunWook and Wang Zi Hao to hopefully boost their ranks.

Although I wish Junhyeon and Haruto would make it ♥️ Btw Idk where to put this but I was wondering if you’d react to Onew’s first ever full album 🥺 it’s gonna get released on Monday and it’s full of comfort songs (mixed with some dance and sexy lol) which I think you’ll really like! The title’s really unique for an idol release too so I hope you can give it a chance!

I think this top 9 is accurate to what’s current with boys planet going ons. I just can’t wait til they drop the whole G group verses K group it’s annoying and I’m over it and I think some trainees are over it too. My one hope is people don’t just not vote for trainees just because they’re already popular. I kinda see this happening with Matthew and others as well. But mostly Matthew after he placed 2nd. I hope people don’t start thinking “oh he’ll be fine I’ll vote someone else.” That can have drastic effects as we’ve seen in the past, especially since it’s down to now voting for your fave 6 trainees. On another note it’s so fun to watch with you as none of my friends who like kpop are into watching the show. Right now they’re like I’ll wait till the group debuts t check them out which I get but survival shows always suck me in lol.

The moment with Matthew and Hanbin made me cry so much🥺 Hanbin really deserve first place, he has such a great personality and talent. I’m so happy that Jongwoo made it. Great lineup for the moment !

there’s this f4 thing that the korean fans are rooting for (hanbin jiwoong yujin gyuvin) so a lot of people are pissed w matthew n his fans cus he surpassed their favs HENCE IM VERY NERVOUS FOR HIM CUS THEYRE SENDING HATE AND DROPPING HIM FROM THEIR PICKSHDHDHD i just hope matthew really debuts in the end cus these shows r so unpredictable

this top 9 is also fine with me, but i just cannot bear seeing another minor / underaged idol like yu jin debut so early, even if their skills are very much up there with the best. i can understand and get behind that his talent is incredible, and his potential to improve his learning curve also stands, but 2007? i'd give him at least 2 years before debuting, but that's just a personal preference. i still love him and happy for him, but yeah. also, the fact that we can only vote for 6 trainees in this next voting phase... i'm sorry to my k-group faves but g-group needs all the help they can get 😭 i'm seriously gonna have to grasp at straws every week to see who i should vote for, aaaaa

Just to be clear, I have nothing against any of the trainees, people in top9 are definitely talented and deserve to debut. However, looking at it from my own biased opinions, this top9 does not make a most optimal group right now, I dont see them fitting together seamlessly. First of all, group of 9 does not need 3 visual pics(Jiwoong, Yujin, Gyuvin). Maybe 2 at most. -I would actually leave Yujin in, hes the youngest, has good dancing skills that are bound to develop even more, he can be taught at least some basic singing or rap to do smaller parts in groups albums and then yeet him to the front on dance breaks etc. - Jiwoong, strong stan attractor, definitely the best face on the show. He has calm and collected personality which might make him a good addition but ultimately this guy is just a face for me. His skills shown so far are okay I guess but there are many far better singers, rappers and dancers. He has a very strong fanbase however so I dont see him going out of top9 -Gyuvin is the visiual pick I would drop. Sorry, he just doesnt do it for me, skill wise, I watched his fancams and hes bit of a butter toast to me, simple, nice but thats it. - Current Top 9 I have as my definate picks - SHanbin, Matthew, ZhangHao, Keita - Hui is a complicated thing, he is obviously crazy talented, but Im not sure hes gonna fit the group 100%? Its an ambiguous case for me, I dont have him in my 6pick but if he debuts I will be happy - Jay is also giga talented vocalist but his style is so distinct I think hes gonna clash with the rest. He either needs a group centered around him or be a soloist - My picks currently outside of top 9 - Gunwook, Taerae, Haruto, Park Hanbin, Wang Zihao - realistically the two first guys mentioned have the biggest chance to enter debut line. I would exchange Gyuvin and Jay (for reasons left above) for Gunwook and Taerae/PHanbin. I love Haruto but his character profile overlaps with Keitas and if I have to choose one, Ill take Keita. Wang Zihao is crazy talented but hes another chinese member so I dont think he will get in top 9, he would need to replace Zhang Hao which is not gonna happen lol. - Honorable mentions of others I wouldnt mind debuting - Lee Yedam and Seunghwan. For trainees that didnt make it I plan to follow Kim Minseoung, cheering him on and waiting for his debut. Any team would be happy to have him.

I personally wouldn't mind this top9 too much but I don't want Yujin, Gyuvin and Hui in the final line up honestly. For Yujin it's a simple case of me not liking minors debuting in K-Pop. Gyuvin hasn't given me anything vocally/rap wise for him to justify his spot in my top9 and for Hui I just feel like he would either 1. Clash with Jay and I personally prefer Jay's voice over Hui's or 2. Just not feel right in the lineup. I've been having this feeling ever since he was announced and still think that he/Pentagon should've gone to Peak time instead of Boys Planet. That show would fit their situation a lot better and he wouldn't get treated like he's the worst dancer in the history of K-Pop lol. The pool of trainees I would like to see is pretty large though so that wouldn't be that much of a problem. My personal "fill ins" would be: Gunwook, Taerae, Seunghwan, Ricky, Haruto, Junhyeon, Seowon, Park Hanbin, Zi Hao, Jongwoo, Kuan Jui, Wumuti. This whole situation made me realise however that just like you said, in the beginning it seemed like barely anyone could sing/rap properly but it just turns out a lot of the trainees didn't get aired or not enough of a spotlight to show off their skills. Also the fact that I now recognize like 95% of the surviving trainees will make the upcoming episodes a lot more interesting to watch. Already looking forward to your reaction!

I'm honestly not mad at all with this top9, it makes sense and holds a lot of talented guys. Personally I would switch maybe Gyuvin with Ricky but I don't mind Gyuvin ending up there either. I'm also really rooting for Ichan since I've loved him since I-LAND and I hope his condition will get better and he can at least survive the next elimination too :)

2nd comment lol but its not related to elims - is it only me or Boys Planet is made as a quite "fruity" show? Im not sure if its just as an appeal to international fans that are usually more accepting of queerness or a sign of times changing as a whole? BP mentioned BL-genre (since Jiwoong obv), had often shown contestants vibing to girl group songs and sending comments alluding to attraction between guys. Again, maybe its just my silly interpretation or its all just for show, but I have not noticed it being such a big part of narrative in any other survival show.

I‘m actually so happy with this line-up! I really want Taerae to debut tho so I would maybe switch him with jay. I also hope that Mnet allows Jiwoong to shine in the next episodes! Based on behind the scenes content and comments from the other trainees it seems like he was a great leader for the Back door team and we didn’t see that like at all in the actual episode. He’s so much more than a pretty face so hopefully he gets more screentime to show his talent and personality. And so glad the besties Sung Hanbin and Matthew are at the top together! I had tears in my eyes they are so adorable and NEED to debut together :,)))

I think it's because he has average skills and doesn't excel in anything that's why most people would switch him out but he has that perfect handsome visual that's why he's so popular

I could not believe the Back Door K team didn't all get in especially Kim Min-Seoung, he does acrobatics and his voice is very stable. On the other hand most of the G team got in when only two, and one of them was of course Ricky (totally deserving) caught my eye. Too bad for Min-Seoung but he is too talented not to debut one day. Re Jiwoong there's a ton of clips online where he sings beautifully. He was an idol before, he did covers, OST, we don't need Mnet to showcase it, it's easy to find. But yes, it would be nice if he showed all he can do. He's very versatile, not just sexy.

Actually I lowkey want the same thing about Hui. I think the lineup is gonna change a lot in the future so we have to wait and see then. I was rooting for alot of ppl outside top9 too

i read somewhere that the final line up of this show is gonna be 5th gen. so idk if that has something to do with the lgbtq friendly exposure that’s happening here cause it could mark the start of a new era. it could also be their way of getting a piece of the bl fans. bl is soooo popular in other parts of asia and of course the west is much more acceptable of lgbtq content than sk. so it could be that as well. regardless, i love the representation and it’s about time.

I feel like this elimination round was kinda predictable ( except for Matthew ) so I’m definitely more excited to the next mission and elimination round. I’m okay with the current top9 but I’d switch gyuvin and jay with either Phanbin , seunghwan , yedam or taerae ( he’s really popular in Korea so he has a chance ). i really like gyuvin and I wouldn’t be mad if he debuted but I feel like he didn’t show something different and strong yet. For jay I personally think that he really doesn’t fit ! he would work better as a soloist.

i mean everyone says this but it's not as if the people who say this are also going to support pentagon's future comebacks...? in a perfect world hui can return to pentagon and they'll be back on an upward trajectory, but there's also a high possibility that after bp999 all the hype will disappear again. that's why he's aiming to secure a spot here so he can have actual, tangible results before he's able to return to the group—and as of now we don't know if there even is a group he can return to considering they've been on over a year long hiatus right before their contract renewal period.

def angry that guys like Doha, daheul and mingyu passed meanwhile some talented guys like Min-Seoung didn't. The only criticism I have with this types of show is that people that are note pro vote. They only care about looks, charms and personality, don't get me wrong it is important as an idol, but secondary. singer, dancing, rapping should be the main reason you vote for someone. So so pissed... My fav so far is Kim junhyeon !!

So for the TOP9, I personally have 3 trainees I wish wouldn't be here (it's not because I dislike them) - Yujin I already talked with you yesterday on the matter. For me, he is too young to debut right now. Honestly, seeing how pressured he was last time, I think he need to grow a bit before debuting otherwise I worry about his health and also he is a good dancer but I think his singing is still too weak from what I saw. I prefer to have a trainee who is an okay dancer and okay singer, well balanced. Also, I often tend to not stan groups with minor. - Gyuvin He is a good dancer but for me, his vocal are too weak right now - Jay I already talked about it on a comment before, for me, Jay is too strong to be in a group or at least for me, he doesn't match here with all the others one on the top. MNET announcing the elimination by Teams hurt a lot more. It's hard to see Takuto being the only survivor of G-GROUP DANGER, I was crying. Jiho being the only one eliminated from K-GROUP VERY NICE (worse knowing Seowon and him are both from NINE.i that's why they kept showing him reacting), the whole BURN IT UP team eliminated.) Honestly, some could have survived if the elimination wasn't that fast. I got to love Chen Yugeng who was the leader of G-GROUP DANGER, he was so good during the performance but it was too late. You discovered Cha Woonggi (ex-member of TO1 with Sungmin who was in LMR K-GROUP, the blond one you didn't know/remember about), trust him when it's come to girlsgroup songs, Woonggi slay 10/10. Also from what i know he support the LGBT Community, he is very open about it, one day he wrote "what about the LGBT community?????? if you hate the LGBT community then i don't love you." or in live "“why do ppl keep leaving comments asking if i like boys? i love everyone but it’s not a weird question, people can be genuinely curious as to whether i like boys or not. it’s not a rude question” or even "i support all love". He has such a great personnality, he ate this dance battle. Chen Kuan Jui my second pick being a spinning wheel, he is so funny, if he doesn't do that, he always flex about his flexibility with his leg. Haru, such an underrated trainee, he is such a good dancer and I'm sad they showed him just in this episode. He ended up eliminated. Wumuti part, "You know who you are". I laughed Jeff, I do think it was aimed for me because there is only me who can write a whole ass paragraph about him to promote him, I need to rename myself "WUMUTI PROMOTER" 😂 When he was announced damm I jumped during the live but seeing the result between KR vs GLOBAL, global fans carrying The CA part, we already talked about it yesterday together so I won't detail about it but you talked about more dance battle. Actually, after we talked mnet released a video on their youtube for the "Best Mate Contest" (the pairs we see coming together at the start are because of this) and damm I was mad because couldn't they put this part ? It was so funny and entertaining (unfortunately it doesn't have sub) Krystian calling himself evil, it's so sad, you definitely understand he know what's going on. I feel sorry for him I love Dongyeol and Hwanhee reaction when one is called, you can see the bond between them, I wish UP10TIO didn't had a shitty agency like TOPMEDIA. Gunwook crying for Hwanhee, he is so sweet, this is where you can see how Gunwook is actually just a kid. People calling Hwanhee, Gunwook father now. I'm also glad you voiced out about trainees like Mingyu/Doha having high ranks. I don't hate them, they are fun but at some point, it's get me annoyed to see them with high ranks when they are already talented trainees that deserve those ranks but are now eliminated or so low

This was a good final lineup for me - though like you said I would want gunwook in though I'm not sure who he would replace. Though tbh I would switch out gyuvin (though I liked him in the audition round) with Haruto. Hes talented and has a fun personality/is charming. I think he could bring a lot to the group! In gyuvins case I think he would need to show something special in the next round to stay in top 9.

Hey Jeff, I enjoyed the reaction as always. Something to keep in mind is how the voting is put into point. Us as international fans who vote have less power than the Korean voters. For example a lot of Koreans are gunning a lot of the Korean contestants especially Kim Tae Rae so the ranking of those contestants aren't very surprising. Also as you mentioned this is one of your first times voting in a survival show, they reduce the number of contestants you can vote for each round. As you know we start with 9 votes in the first, now we get 6 votes, then we'll probably get 3 votes for the people going into the finale and then the final group will be decided by one vote. There has been so many contestants in previous Mnet shows(I won't mention in case you ever watch) where there are a couple of contestants that the audience really likes in general but as the amount of votes they have decrease they don't vote for those trainees since they have ones they favor more or they start to think those trainee are safe. So the trainees that are well liked overall who may not have as big of a 'one-pick' fanbase can fall a lot right before or during the finale and not make the final group. Another thing to keep in mind is that a good amount of trainees have previous fanbases. Not just Hui, but also people who were on previous survival shows and groups like Haruto, Yedam, Annthony, Woongki, Hiroto, etc. Sorry for the long paragraph I just thought it could be good insight into the reasons some people are voted highly despite not having screen time or obvious popularity.

i like yujin, but he’s so young. most of the trainees who seem most likely to debut in the top 9 are at least 18, so his young age would be more noticeable. i do like gyuvin too, but he hasn’t shown enough yet imo. and i think either hui or jay are gonna have to go (for reasons people have already explained) but i personally would prefer for jay to debut between the 2 of them. i really want haruto and gunwook to debut, and i really like seowon, kuan jui and wumuti

This is the perfect Top 9 so far and I hope it doesn’t change lol. Maybe they’ll make it Top 10 and the group will AMAZING. And why is everyone commenting to take out Jay? I love him. When I think of him I think of EXO (simply because of his vocals) so I don’t know why he needs to go. They need a strong vocalist along with Hui. I’m gonna go back and analyze this Top 9 and see who would work perfectly together and comment on the next episode.

Idk if Im late with this but back in the day for Lay's Lit mv he also worked eith Prime Kingz's Trix on his mv and then during the covid since Trix was also in China he stayed there at that time. I believe Lay made a deal with him and he was teaching krump to the company trainees. So Trix was Wang Zihao's krump teacher pretty much for a year and more. Zihao also started dancing since he was 12, performed on many roadshows at the very young age as well. Entered CEG when he was 19 although the age restriction was 18. And yes some other trainees who got eliminated in this round mentioned about mnets weird editing. Also by far mnet's cutting all Zihao's screentime so u wont see his personality i guess😂 at least yet. even during "law" performance within the episode on Zihao's parts they were literally showing others reactions on the performance and its clear when u watch the full version on yt without anyones reaction to it.

Just wanted to give my two cents about the traditionl head dress thing here as someone who lived in SK and studied its culture. it's definitely NOT like south korean people will know about the problematic implications and you cannot expect them to know to be honest. yes as sad as it is but not many of these korean idols KNOW or understand enough english to get that problem in its full context and i think also people outside of north america will not get it either. even i myself who grew up in europe did have to research the context of the problem with wearing that headdress because it's not something i had to touch on in my own culture. to expect that they all know about it because they are ~gen z~ is very ignorant of the whole wide world in my opinion. i don't agree with making fun of stuff that hurts people BUT at the end of day i'm also aware that people exist outside of the (western) culture that never will know about what is problematic in that. i don't excuse such behaviour but i want to stress that different access to english & its internet culture exists and you cannot expect everyone to have grown up with the same access to knowledge about these kinds of things like you.
