Ok it's SO HARD to rank these guys! I did have my current ranking after all three performed but I cut it out here as I decided to wait until everyone else performed to fully lay it out. But I am curious as to what you guys think too so let me know down below!

I love how all the groups are always on FANBOY mode whenever iKON performs! ❤ More than the competition itself, the interactions of all these groups is what I'm living for!! 🥰

delluna

Thank you, I was waiting for this! I’m a deobi but they all did so great! And we still have 3 more groups, this is gonna be tough. Anyway I’m so proud of my boyz and especially Sunwoo who is overcoming his fears everytime. I suggest you watch the fancam of the performance, you can see the choreo better.

Anonymous

Thank you for this! I was planning on watching the show on my own but I decided it was gonna be too much stress (because of MNET) 🤣 and cause I like having the feeling of watching it together with someone else. So when I found out you were doing Kingdom reactions I instantly paid for Patreon 😂. Anyways stan iKON and SF9 ❤️❤️❤️ P.S: Mino (the guy who just woke up) is also from WINNER.

Anonymous

Jeff i wish you'll watch and react to iKON's dance practice for this performance on youtube. The dance performance is available on ikon youtube channel. Why i suggest this, because mnet camera angle is suck. A lot of good point that missed on broadcast.

LisMM

You Malfunctioning after seeing Dawon was hilarious, but honestly same. Him and Hwiyoung just casually sitting together in one shot is a total OP of visual power 💀 The Boyz were awesome, although just for me, personally I felt like this was too theater like. If you’re going to do that at least throw in some live vocals since you’re not dancing so much if yk what I mean? Mino and Seung Yoon are both from Winner lol. Just sayin...😂 As for the song “Apology” by iKON I definitely recommend checking it out. It’s absolutely beautiful. What Seung Yoon was referring to by “The Breakup series” is actually a tetralogy of songs: 1. Love Scenario 2. Killing Me 3. Goodbye Road 4. I’m Ok They’ve also already released a dance practice video of their performance and the camera work is way better than mnet’s ever could be lol https://youtu.be/DtN11SU1k6k Ateez knowing the fanchants to Missing you was an absolute mood. Seonghwa really looked like he was about to cry bless him. I really love how this season feels so much more lighthearted already than the last because of the absence of an elimination system. Even though it’s a competition everyone seems to be enjoying theirselves more than anything els. I love the focus they’ve been laying on the friendships between the teams (Chani x Chanwoo, Wooyoung x Changbin& Haknyeon) and all the genuine fanboying. I can’t wait to see next week’s performances 😫 And in the next round they’ll be covering each other’s songs. I can’t wait for that either. I don’t want to wait two weeks 🥲 Anyways my ranking for this ep is: 1) BTOB - A lil bit pitchy in places, but their performance felt the most well thought out and stayed with me the most. 2) iKON - the stage was a little but underwhelming due to the song arrangement but I still loved it. Especially after watching their dance practice i could appreciate it more. 3) TBZ - It was just too OTT. Sorry. 😢 I still love them though. And fr. Can ma boi Sunwoo take a break for once?!

Rachel Barrett

I just wanted to clear up, the theme “To the World” is basically the groups taking a song, remixing that song, and giving a performance to show “To the World.” It’s not really about a specific message because if that was the case then the song choices would have been very different. I think it was just explained weirdly in the show.

Layla123

Watching the very first ranking announcement left me with some complicated feelings. I'll be honest, I'm not super into the fan-voting having such a large chunk here - there's already such a huge split regarding the domestic/international fandoms for the participants, and while I'm not saying it's unfair per se I'm just a bit turned off by how much this is emphasising certain things: leading groups to have voting strategies (it's not everyone in every fandom, of course, but there is some discussion about voting for versus voting against fandoms), for example, or disincentivising groups like BTOB and iKON who rely more on recognition rather than dedicated hardcore voting groups. I suppose I just hate the competition aspect of this show too much when it comes to that - I'm all for healthy competition when it comes to each group wanting to show off their talents and artistic drive, but not when it comes to needless fanwars where someone's putting each other down to try and achieve some ranking. Then again, I'm watching Kingdom because I love the interactions and the opportunities it offers for some really great performances and it's so fun to see all the groups be openly supportive of each other and hype each other up while delivering spectacular performances every week, so I'm glad the show is giving us that though I'm greedy for more mix-ups and interactions lol

Anonymous

I wanna comment again real quick but I also hope you would at least watch in your own time, the dance practice for iKON’s because we were robbed of the hand choreos during Donghyuk’s part due to the lighting.

eve_ss

iKON already released a dance practice video for this performance! and I must say their staff camera work is so much better!! 🥰 I hope you'll get to react to this also and hopefully we get dance practices for other groups as well. ❤

jennielvr_

this ep caused a lot of things on twitter & tiktok bc of sunwoo having a panic attack (?) along w/ a behind the scenes of him holding the rope (and hurting himself; he has a mark on his arm), ikon being last, ateez being treated less than other groups for being put in a storage like room, with uncomfortable, foldable chars whilst the others have sofas, and lastly the preview of jongho’s high note which caused him to get tons of hate from antis (for the voice crack (?? idk if it was one) but aside from that, ikon was my fave out of the 3 performances and i rlly hope you check out their music (especially killing me) also im so glad that there are no eliminations for kingdom, im too attached to all these groups to cry again (like i did with golden child in rtk 🥲)

Camylle Val

I think the fact that there is no audience influence the performances a lot, I'm interested to know, IF there was public, how the groups would have handle their stages, guess we'll never know less camera works? less choreography? more live vocals?

Layla123

Oh random fun fact: BTOB's Missing You is the second-longest charting idol group song on Melon ever! The top three are BTS' Spring Day, then Missing You, and Wanna One's Energetic. I was so happy to see that they picked Missing You to perform this week, and this performance left me breathless (though I'm very attached to the original version with all the members, I really liked this rearrangement). I'm trying not to pick an overall favourite either until we see all 6 performances, and anyway both TBZ and iKON shook up the game with their excellence as well so I haven't done a ranking for these three from this week in my mind yet, but BTOB's Missing You was absolutely legendary for me and hit all the right spots for me, and I will probably be revisiting it for quite a while.

Lola

Hey Jeff! I definitely think you should watch all the full versions even if its on your own time before making a ranking, bc some stuff are definitely missed with all the cuts. I literally had to watch them 3 times before deciding anything! I agree its hella hard to rank them, especially for us multistans but im basing it off the impact and emotion it gave me. After watching the full versions as of now To me BTOB is number one, then The Boyz and then Ikon! Missing you itself is such a beautiful song and the fact that they made it even more beautiful blew me away, also two of their members are in the army and like those two members have hugee parts in that song so i was amazed I didn’t feel the gap. For me the concept of the Boyz performance was amazing and grand as usual, but the more I’ve analyzed it I feel like their performance was filled with amazing moments but it didn’t flow fully as some of their previous performances, there was something missing for me! The only reason Ikon is behind the boyz is bc I didn’t feel their concept was as grand, and the staging had to do with that, but that’s not their fault! Literally killing me is one of my ultimate kpop songs, lyrics really hit home, especially after a breakup. You should definitely watch it!

Malin Stalheim

Actually The boyz debuted before Stray kids (TBZ december 2017, SKZ march 2018), that's why they call them sunbaenim :)

eve_ss

YES!! the break up series was so good! I really feel like I went through some major breakup and heartbreak even with my non-existent love life!

eve_ss

iKON really have so many great songs ! just seeing your reaction from their small clips here I really think you're gonna love them too! Here are some of their songs: Rhythm Ta Apology Bling Bling Birthday Goodbye Road Dumb and Dumber My Type iKON songs especially during their early days were mostly hype songs and hip-hop heavy but they also transitioned to some ballads and slow-tempo songs. Their songs doesn't have like intense difficult choreo but the level of swag it requires is insane! Really looking forward to your reaction! ❤

mina

yes highly recommend the dance practice camera angle was SOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH BETTER! mnet version sucks This is the link: https://youtu.be/DtN11SU1k6k

Omayma

It's The Boyz for me. Okay I love all of them... I stan all of them.. but in terms of you know.. supporting more and voting for... I have to pick... and it's TBZ & SF9 it just has to be these 2 for me.. But seriously tbz's performance... makes me cry.. the expressions I feel the pain... in a way I relate to it too, esp Juyeon... damn... he really did that. Tbz are not performing at this point they are painting.. art.. UNIQUE masterpieces. anyway.. I know SF9's perf gonna chock ppl. stan.

Anonymous

About the difference in stage and how grand it is for each group. There was a difference in budget for some groups. Mnet officially gave each group 5 million won but one groups went over budget, so mnet decided to increase it but they didn't let half of the companies know about the new budget.

Anonymous

You bring this up again. Kinda dissapointed with mnet. It is not fair for the rest 3 groups tho. Hate it.

Anonymous

I agree with you about watching the full versions as well, even if it's on his own time. The Boyz is the group I'm a fan of, and I loved their performance, but I agree with what you said about them. And out of this 3, BTOB was my favorite performance.

pia_universe

IT IS SO HARD TO DECIDE WHEN IT COMES TO VOTING REALLY. i mean it. all caps to feel the intensity hahah. coz each group have diff charms and then strengths. my head hurts just thinking of ranking them coz i feel bad.

Paulina K.

It's so hard for me to do any rankings in this show, because I stan ALL of these groups and I always feel extremely bad, when I have to put someone last.. For me it's like ranking your children. And because every group has their own style, it's even worse to compare them with each other. So I'm making my ranking based on my feelings regarding the performances - which one surprised me, moved me or simply was the most pleasant to see and hear. And to be honest, BTOB was number one for me. They surprised me the most, because I've already expected something grand from The Boyz and iKON, but the whole traditional feel and sword dancing in one of my favorite kpop songs of all time "Missing You"?! That was unexpected. I'm just sad that the whole group can't be in "Kingdom", because of the military.. Let me tell you, if all 4 main vocalists of BTOB were here instead of just 2, other teams would have no chance 😂 It would be as amazing as MAMAMOO's performances in "Queendom". The second for me are The Boyz. I was surprised that they are continuing this "Game of Thrones" theme from their first stage in "Kingdom", and I'm curious to see if they will continue to do that throughout the show. That would be awesome. Also, they still managed to do something new and fresh, which is impressive. I really enjoyed their stage. So, iKON are 3rd right now in my ranking, but it's all just my personal opinion (and it hurts me, since I'm a proud iKONIC, that my boys are at the bottom right now 💔). I was just not a fan of the rearrangements. The performance was great and I love their ideas, dancing and of course their voices, but the songs kept distracting me, if I'm being honest. So in this round I've heard: my favorite The Boyz's song "No Air", my favorite BTOB's song "Missing You" and my favorite iKON's song "Killing Me". The hardest competition for me personally. But while They Boyz changed "No Air" into a great dark anthem and BTOB changed a pop ballad "Missing You" into a sentimental, traditional drama soundtrack, which I love, iKON didn't change much, and I wasn't a fan of the new versions (of course it's just my opinion). They did an upbeat "Love Scenario" in a little more upbeat style, and my favorite dark EDM "Killing Me" with some minor changes. I just prefer the original versions so much more, that I couldn't focus on the performance, because I kept thinking how I wish they didn't change it like that. And I honestly think that this rearrangement of "Love Scenario" wasn't that impressive, in terms of this competition. With the lack of better words in my poor English vocabulary, I would say it was too weak, compared to "No Air" and "Missing You". I kinda wished they would do their whole "breakup series", that would be one hell of an awesome musical, but I guess the time is too short. Just "Love Scenario" and "Killing Me" alone, without many changes, in a competition like "Kingdom", didn't have as much of an impact on me as The Boyz and BTOB's rearrangements. So now we're waiting for the rest. I'm curious to see an official ranking, and I'm super glad that I'm not responsible for that. I refuse to vote in "Kingdom", since all of them are my babies and I can't choose just 3 groups, so I leave it to the others. I wish all of them could be number one at least once, but it's not possible...

As for the boyz singing, sunwoo said himself their performance for 1st round were 100% live. And the individual fancam show more their sides performance which the main camera didn't capture

eve_ss

Beside from the full version, Mnet also released a full cam version for all the performances. Here you'll see more of the behind the camera scenes. It's so cool! ☺️

LisMM

Ateez had comfy chairs lol. They weren’t foldables. Damn Atiny’s do be getting annoyed over the tiniest things lol. There are only so many waiting rooms. That building has been used for so many shows. People really need to stop being nitpicky to that extent 🙄 I’m worried about Sunwoo and Jongho tho. High notes don’t equal vocal prowess, a lot of kpop fans don’t seem to get that, an artist can totally show off their vocal skill without having to sing hella high notes, Jongho has a lovely voice and is totally capable of wowing ppl with his vocals without unnecessary high notes and belts, even Chen from EXO says that although he can get up there, it’s not comfortable to repeatedly do so all the time. It takes a toll on your voice. Especially since Ateez (or at least Jongho) always sing live, when you’re out of breath you’re less likely to be able to use the proper techniques to sing a high note like that safely. 😥 As for Sunwoo. Can we just stop this thing of him constantly having to “overcome his fears” damnit. There are literally 10 other members. Let one of them do it for once 😢

BaoziBang

Firstly, just so you know when they call Eunkwang from BTOB Director Seo it's not a Nickname, he is actually a Director at Cube Ent

BaoziBang

I am less excited for The Boyz everytime I see them. They feel less and less like actual People to me and more and more like performance robots. I would have preferred if they did bloom bloom and that's my least favorite title track of theirs but at least they could actual have fun on stage. I think performances like the one they did in ep 2 would be great if it's only expert voting even though they start to... Not to bore me but... Idk how to explain it... I get less and less attached to them and others seem to have similar problems. When I thought about TBZ I used to have so many different aspects of theirs flash in my mind but now it's just... Stunt, stunt, stunt, stunt... Also... I'm actually getting pissed at them about Sunwoo. Even if he wants to do all the shit he's fucking terrified of, the company should tell him no because it can severely affect his health in the long run!

Erley

Also if you get the chance watch the dance practice of iKon's stage. You can see how much Mnet messy with their camer a work. It's just biased. This is what folks mean when they evil editing from Mnet. https://youtu.be/DtN11SU1k6k

Ana

Jeff so you stopped posting the produce 101 becaude of kingdom? I'm Sad becaude I subscried here bc of this but It has been more than 2 weeks. You keep adding others things to watch instead of watching pd 101

Ana

No hard feelings just wanna let you know

SB

i loved btob's stage the most out of the three but god they all did so well. for some reason, i feel that sf9 would have the best stage overall ?? i have no basis for this except for the previews but yea,,, im rooting for skz 'til the end but all groups are amazing!

Aid

Hi jeff! I'm currently watching your reaction, I just want to share that SKZ called TBZ as sunbaenims is because TBZ debuted first which was on December 2017 while SKZ was on March 2018. :)

LisMM

SF9s stage looks like it's going to be really good. I can't wait. I was super disappointed they weren't this week's episode, I was looking forward to them the most ^^. I think they actually might be going last based of of the strategy SKZ were discussing when planning the groups.

SB

lmao regarding skz's choice to go fourth, stay twt were also confused as hell like ?? "wasn't that a "dead spot" since its the middle??" or "why didnt they chose to be the finale when they got the chance cus that was the deal in rtk?" BUT the real reason was they just liked that spot + the number and that they went fourth during the intro stages so they want to go fourth again :DD

SB

Please watch I-LAND next!!

Daniel Secundino

every time I see Minhyuk, I instantly think of Soobin! they look so similar!

kai

Not gone lie I got the most chills watching BTOBs stage like the vocals just had me having goosebumps the entire time and they had that little break with the sword that was really good and I think BTOB had the best message for To The World so far

Anonymous

I'm not a hardcore Melody. I love iKON since their predebut days. I know nothing much about The Boyz, but just by watching these perfs, BTOB definitely ranks first for me as it wasn't predictable. I loved what they did with the song and just the overall concept was memorable.

Lynossa

I have to say I almost hear Ilhoon, Sungjae and Hyunsik’s voice. That is how much I miss them 😭

Lynossa

Jeff, I think because of your background as dancer you are focusing too much on the dance part, which is understandable but I wish people don’t treat Kingdom as dance competition. There are many aspects to evaluate and not just how hard the choreo is. I wish we got equal evaluation points for dance/vocal/rap/song arrangement. That will elevate the competition rather than focusing only on one aspect; It should be a complete package. It was my biggest issue with RTK and I believe without BTOB, Kingdom would have suffered exactly the same issue. There are many kinds of performance, even rap battle is a performance as well. My personal rank for these 3 is: BTOB-iKON-TBZ. I’m ikonic but that performance from BTOB is really the best and it lingers after I watched this episode. The fact that they also added dance break, something that out of their comfort zone, is a huge plus for me. They are willing to explore the unfamiliar while also showing their strength. iKON’s performance is clean. The storyline is clear and I can see their movement very well. LS and Killing Me are such great songs and they utilized them very well, connecting the breakup songs. My only wish is for Bobby to rap more and harder and Junhoe to show what his raspy vocal can do. TBZ is my least fav; the dance is great and god, Juyeon is amazing in every performance. But it’s too busy, too much things going on and by the end of the performance, I don’t remember the song at all. We all know they are great in concept and dance but I wish they would tone down in next performance so we can truly appreciate their vocal and rap skills.

rk2000

I def wish we could hear TBZ perform more live with their vocals & rap. Overall, I think it's unfair how some groups perform MUCH MORE live than others - I wish there was some sort of rule so that a certain percent of each group's performance had to be live or something- otherwise I feel it's unfair to compare the dancing of a group that's fully singing live to a group that's barely/not at all singing live. And unfortunately most people look at the dance first cause they're not fully able to tell/paying attention to whether a group is singing live or not.

Angel Chatfield

i feel like thats up to sunwoo as what he wants to do is in the end his choice, if he wants to face his fears then let him. If he really didnt want to do it, i don't believe the company would force him as their company actually cares about them (unlike some other companies who do force their artists).

Angel Chatfield

I stan all groups in kingdom except for BTOB so my first episode ranking btob were 6th for me but this episode my personal ranking is: ikon, btob then the boyz

May

Ok had to pause to mention something. The theme for first mission is "To The World" as in a song with a message they want to give OR a song that they want the world to hear or show to the world so I think The Boyz did do a good job in picking the song. Same with iKON.

jeffavenue

thank you for joining us! and honestly i feel u. i wouldn’t know who to talk to about these things if i didn’t have my channel lol

jeffavenue

i agree. i think all competitions will have some sort of voting because companies can actually earn money from that. that’s why i like that there are professionals being involved this time around.

jeffavenue

i think camera work will be more like produce and it may be a static stage in the front with weird camera zoom ins and outs lol

Anonymous

I think for this round judging based on stage production is wrong since MNET treated three teams unfairly with budgets. My ranking BTOB>Ikon>The boyz. I judged based on song rearrangement, their reinterpretation, and overall storyline flow. I had never heard of No Air before and went to go watch their music video after their Kingdom performance and actually thought they took out the parts that made No Air most memorable. I honestly can’t even remember the musicality of the Kingdom rearranged version. Ikon did what Ikon was best at, but I agree that with popular songs I was left wanting to hear the full version! BTOB blew my expectations with the traditional interpretation and the sword dance suited their interpretation so well.

jeffavenue

i think it actually worked out for them because of how mnet broke down the episode and split it into 2. so now they get to open the show next week and there are only like 3 performances left so it’ll still be fresh by the end

jeffavenue

i hear you but because i couldn’t pick cause everyone’s so good, i had to go with other aspects that i’m familiar of. and i didn’t know about the budget thing 😩. but ya i’m reserving my ranking until i see everyone’s performance. will definitely take several watches!

mistywolf the dragon rider

I agree with you on the ranking so far, 1st BTOB, 2nd TBZ, and 3rd iKON. I liked all performances but I agree that iKONs arrangement wasn't my favorite, I also would have preferred if they kept the musical theme going and maybe made Killing Me more dramatic as well, but they basically just performed it normally which was kind of jarring compared to Love Scenario. I think TBZ probably did the best overall performance-wise, but I put BTOB first because of their choice in arrangement and the emotions I felt in their performance. It just made it so much more impactful to me.

LisMM

Him and Sanha from Astro. I swear those three could easily pass as brothers in real life..

LisMM

It was just too dark overall, I watched the dance practice and was literally blown away by their musicality and how epic the performance actually was T_T

Anonymous

I had to pause to mention something also : stray kids calls the boyz sunbaenim because they debuted a couple months before them

Anonymous

Hi Jeff! If you've noticed a big difference in the scale of the stage production, it's because there has been a miscommunication between MNET and entertainment companies on the set budget - It was first communicated to all companies that they could only spend up to 5M won (~$4500 usd) on each set - Some companies then talked to MNET about how the budget was too limiting. After some discussions, MNET removed the 5M won limit and allowed companies to spend over - However, only 3 of the companies were notified of this change in budget amount - Only *1* team is stated to have gone over 5M won for their set (but the articles did not state which group went over) - So during the filming of these 1st round performances, some of the companies' managers complained about the huge differences in sets that resulted from MNET failing to communicate the new budget to every team - MNET has apologized for their mistake and promised the stages of the upcoming rounds will be more fair for all groups So I hope you can take this into account while you're ranking the groups during the 1st round! Thanks!

Ashley

I stan all the groups and my ranking is Btob, Tbz, Ikon. I thought Btob's performance really left a impact with missing you. The Boyz performance was good but it felt like it was missing something, Ikon's performance just didn't blow me away.

Doyoungismyult

I personally hate how so many people always signify “more intense choreo as being better or harder”. Their is grace and power in soft choreo as well. We need to get away from thinking that men can’t be soft and still powerful. I hate that mindset so much. When did kingdom become a “who is better at choreo event?” This is not a dance competition or who can do the most flips. I loved queendom because it was about performance as a whole. Singing and dancing. It was about camaraderie. Ikons first performe felt more put together then the Boyz. The Boyz it feels like they are more worried about dancing and what cool trick can we do next and that is totally fine too but there comes a point in time when they need to quit relying on that

mistywolf the dragon rider

He is actually in the middle of watching Produce 101 already and paused it to watch Kingdom, so after Kingdom is over he will go back to Produce.

Victoria

i'm worried the boyz did too much in that performance, don't get me wrong i loved it. but how are they gonna top that for the rest of the show? this is my ranking so far :) 1. Ikon 2. The boyz 3. Btob

Alex Lee

Everybody who said "it's too much", "is it a dance competition", "they should do more vocals" lol I wanna ask "IS IT A VOCAL COMPETITION"??? NO. IT'S A SURVIVAL SHOW ABOUT PERFORMANCES! And performance is NOT ONLY about vocals! It's mix of vocals, choreography, stage presence (like feelings, expressions...) etc. AND TBZ had it all. You can clearly hear they were singing live and also dancing gracefully, killing those facial expressions. And if I begin to tell about this amazing storyline and details they put in it.. istg I won't shut up until their next performance. So yes, it's definitely the boyz for me.

Mesha ✌︎

Nothing really is impossible with THE Boyz, Imagine how the heck did they came up with the idea of incorporating No air which is a pretty lively, cute and light concept to A GAME OF THRONES!? WTHH I JUST CANT

BaoziBang

I feel really disconnected from The Boyz..i also realized... We never see TBZ having fun, at all outside of the little moments when they talk at the table. Also, why did they do the whole water thing in the first place and why only show us that? I mean. They are clearly going with a GoT Theme but WHY? hello, how can they not explain the concept at all or show how they even decided on GoT in the first place. All we saw in ep 1 was Juyeon being anxious, this time it was sunwoo. Tbz are an incredible fun group so how can it be that 90% of what we see of them is just the bleak sides? How am I supposed to be happy to see them if all I can think about is who is going to panic, get hurt ec next instead of anything else. I really can't enjoy their performances anymore because I don't feel like THEY enjoy them.

Mesha ✌︎

ok but why are some of yall shitting on the boyz like its not their fault its mnet!!! 🥺 stop downgrading them. The didn’t know abd they did their best!

Anonymous

Since in Kingdom things like wow factors and staging have so much importance it's really hard to judge stages with this big differences in stage production, even more knowing that some groups didn't even know they could go over the initial budget because of mnet's "miscomunication". That said, I think BTOB still had the best stage in this episode! The most impactfull and that showcased their talent and uniquess the best! Then I would say The Boyz was the second most memorable, but again, it's hard to judge because they clearly spent so much more in the stage. I liked Ikon too! I wish the musical version of love scenario was longer because I was loving it and it was different from what most groups do in Kingdom / did in Road to Kingdom.

Anonymous

The huge budget difference is so apparent in these stages... especially with Ikon performing right after TBZ. TBZ’s stage just screamed expensive, and that was about it. I feel like the stage was more memorable than the performance itself, which is a shame considering they are great performers. Love ‘No Air’ tho! Ikon managed to put on an amazing and lively performance with a terrible stage, so I believe they had the best. As a Korean, I loved the traditional aspects BTOB included in their stage, but I would like to see more dancing from them since this show is largely focused on performance as a whole.

Irving

Honestly same those are my top two groups on this show, and I'm so excited for SF9's performance as well just from the preview it looks so good

Holly

This hit omg... I remember almost crying watching their RTK Heroine performance cuz it was so pure, meaningful, and the arrangement was beautiful! Seeing them tell their stories with that performances seriously gave me chills, and I remember Jacob saying that he cried because he saw Q’s genuine smile during that performance bc he was having so much fun, but that performance ended up flopping in rankings.. So honestly I don’t blame them for feeling the pressure of always needing to do more and more tricks because past results clearly show that stunts tend to do better, but I do hope that they can at least put on a couple performances like Heroine, that may not be technically as difficult but make them remember why they love performing (as juyeon said after this performance he always feels regret after doing this kind of performance). Though I wouldn’t be surprised if that doesn’t happen cuz based on global standards stunt performances will almost always win over a less stunt filled emotional one :/

Lynossa

Exactly. But did we see those vocal and song arrangement? No, because everyone is focusing only on the dance part. Even the expression part on tbz performance got lost because what people talk about is their stunts.

Anonymous

My ranking was Ikon>Btob>TBZ. I was actually extremely underwhelmed with the boyz performance :( Its felt very expensive but I didnt remember anything about it afterwards. Also, I didnt like how the performance (more song-wise) kept building up to something that I felt never came.

my ranking is definitely The Boyz Btob Ikon In performance aspect as the whole in my opinion The Boyz is first. The concept, the vocals, the versatility, the stage, the visual effects, the camera work its so fascinating and original but yeah i agree with the more stunts you getting used to this but i did not saw many of dance or stunts it was more like theater with acting and was more focusing on storyline Each group has their own charm, i dont care who will win because at the end of show everyone will get the recognition and maybe will blew up like the oh my girl so in conclusion everyone doing great! looking forward to next episode i guess sf9 will take the advantage

I think for me personally, TBZ in Kingdom and Road to Kingdom don't seem to be having fun? At least not how they seem normally. When watching RTK I didn't know much about TBZ but after I started watching more of their variety content and other videos and got to see how much fun they have together and I wish that was shown on RTK. It feels like the pressure to do something big and grand makes it so they can't enjoy themselves. I remember Chang Min in RTK talking about how he wanted to learn from other groups "how to have fun on stage" or something like that and it made me sad . Their Heroine performance was the one time they seemed to be really enjoying themselves and I wish/ hope they will have the opportunity to have fun and show their goofy personalities on this show. This performance from them was grand but I just didn't connect with it like I did some of their RTK performances. I enjoyed IKON and BTOB's performances much more; they weren't at the same scale (in terms of budget) but the performances were just much more enjoyable to me. I hope in future episodes TBZ can show their personalities and are able to have performances that show their joy.

I feel like a lot of people are using the budget issue and taking this as a chance to undermine the Boyz' performance. It feels like people are focusing on the budget difference rather than admiring the actual performance and stage. Although this is very unfair for the other groups that were not informed, it is cleary not the Boyz' fault that Mnet misdelivered instructions. People are saying that the Boyz' stages are too extra or expensive, but Kingdom is a competition show and a program to create legendary stages. This is the time to be extra and to go all out. In order to create legendary stages, there are many aspects to consider such as staging fitting to the performance, whether it is extravagant or just simple, and the performance, including dance and vocals. I think the Boyz' staging fits to each of their performances, and not all of their stages were extra or expensive like their "Danger" stage from RTK which used minimal props. Also, to people calling them out for stunts, they also help in creating legendary stages. These kind of stunts may never be used again, even in year end stages or concerts. The Boyz said themselves that they are going all out because this is not a festival but a competition show. They are challenging themselves and working very hard to create an outcome that is satisfactory to themselves and to the fans, as well as the general audience. Plus, you can cleary hear that they are performing live in this stage. This is in no way saying that everything is perfect and there is no room for improvement. Everyone has different opinions and it's ok to critique the stages. But I just hope we don't undermine the hard work of all the groups in Kingdom and not drag any of the groups down.

To Jeff, thank you for your insight and thought about each performance. It really helps me to see the stages in different ways I didn't before and to admire the stages even more.

I started watching this show for changmin and yunho lmao so the competition aspect is kind of meaningless to me? I'm here to watch cool stages and see tvxq do things together, and since fan voting is such a big part I kind of feel like winning this show isn't exactly based on quality of stages imo?

Anonymous

Yeah, kinda sad about the fan voting. And now im just enjoying the performances. And rooting for them. Especially ateez, i want to see them grow 🤣🤣

My bois ateez be fanboying all over their sunbaes is a mood 🤣🤣

h.

skz called tbz sunbaenims bc they debuted first!

Sunny

so i am currently at the part where tbz is under water.... and i just realized this: first time watching i was also confused af why they are shooting and doing this, but now i get it, they said that they wanted to learn and be better at there facial expressions, and for no air and the concept it should be more desperate. and under water havng "no air" and being desperate they want it to learn it in that way.

I actually didn't like TBZ performance, it felt odd, a bit too much. Maybe live it would be better? Just my personal opinion of course. Loved BTOB and IKON, but BTOB stayed with me more :)

You should get to know btob more tho. You can react to their song I'll be your man(pray) and movie, if you want something with more dance performance.

i think someone has mentioned this but I think it’s important to watch the fancams from kingdom especially with the boyz , in sunwoo’s fancam you can see that he had trouble getting on the rope. It’s really amazing how sunwoo handled it and made it seem so easy.

Lawresha

Did you see the fansite previews of the new episode being recorded its supposed to be some type of sport competition game and it looks like it will be the most enjoyable episode as the idols seem to be having fun and us stays really can't wait for the episode as we saw members like felix interacting with a member of the boyz and wooyoung from ateez they seem to be having fun so I hope fans take that time to sit back and let the idols enjoy them selves.

actually, I'm an Exo-l and I'm not a fan of any of these groups but if I want to rank them for this ep, so my ranking will be: 1- Btob, 2- Ikon, 3- The Boys. but all of them were great tho.

Hammhoxx

But you can clearly tell that it's pre-recorded though??? And you can also hear when some of the members (Sangyeon, Younghoon, and Jacob) start and stop singing.

I have to say... My problem with The Boyz is... They are too much. Don't get me wrong. The know how to perform and are really good, but they are over the top in my opinion. Sometimes less is more. My ranking so far is: 1. BtoB 2. iKON 3. The Boyz I'm looking forward to the next performances!

Matt Vesliño

I definitely don't have a concept of "too much," so I actually am very high on THE BOYZ this episode. If I were to rank them, iKON is in the lead, followed by THE BOYZ, then BTOB. I think BTOB definitely relied on their strengths, which was good, but the sudden shift in tone was too abrupt for me to buy it as a cohesive performance. I definitely think Minhyuk did great, but whoever mixed their piece could've done better with their transitions to at least better incorporate his solo portion; otherwise, I do think BtoB still stunned. Definitely memorable. iKON and THE BOYZ is a toss up for me because I'm very biased toward THE BOYZ, but I think iKON edges them out a little because their concept is much clearer to me, and more original. No one would've expected iKON, a hip-hop based group, to do a musical rendition of some of the biggest hits of their career, and I think it was the shock factor and overall vibe that sold it for me. THE BOYZ did amazing as per usual, but I do think it's something that we, as an audience, have come to expect, so it wasn't quite as surprising, I guess. TBZ definitely had that impact for me, and I had them at my personal top for a while, but after much thinking, I do think iKON edges them out by a little. Definitely in love with all of them though, and I can't wait for SKZ, SF9, and ATZ next week!

I personally think there is no "too much" in a survival show for me because thats what I wanna see in a kind of competition. I really liked there had more to dance because they had great vocals, acted, great story line and idea and also just there know how to perform is so great. They had a huge impact for me.

Tra Mai

iKON released the dance practice version on their own YouTube channel and let me tell you it's WAYYY better than the Mnet version

LisMM

a gazillion times better. I second this. 🙋‍♀️

Rahaf

Jeff was surprised that BTOB have more than 100 song. Now who gonna tell him that SKZ have 105 songs in just 3 years😭😭😂

Brittanaynay

I haven't watched this yet but I am curious if he knows about the budget thing and how three groups weren't given the memo
