Here it isss! Thank you all so much for voting for what to do next after The Unit. Reminder that this reaction series will take a break when Kingdom starts in April and will resume afterwards.

I had a hard time recording this one because of  the pop ups and the main player itself sometimes would crash because there doesn't seem to be a legit site that has it (I think VIU does but it's not available in my country). BUT thank you to @shiaiex on twitter for providing me a Google Drive version which I will be using from episode 2 and forward!

I was literally watching your reaction to The Unit and when I saw the notif, I was like "THIS COULD WAIT! I NEED TO WATCH THIS NOW!" 🤣

camille

P101 Season 1 was I.O.I's season, IZ*ONE is the 3rd season. BTW Samuel was super young and trained with Seventeen until shortly before debut. He also debuted for a bit in a hip hop duo before going on P101.

THIS IS SO NOSTALGIC ISTG i miss wanna one 😭

arianaisventi

I'm watching the reaction while writing this so I'll keep editing this. So for the CUBE trainees, SEONHO debuted with an album last 2018 but didn't made a comeback until now. He is active both on dramas and variety shows though. He was on Handsome Tigers, a basketball variety show, which CHA EUNWOO participated also. For KUANLIN, he had a dispute between CUBE and filed a lawsuit. He is active in China as an actor. His famous drama is "A Little Thing Called First Love" it is a remake from the famous Thai movie with Mario Maurer. As for NU'EST being called trainees, on Produce Series, even if you already debuted, you will be back to being trainees on the show that's why.

Dongpyo DEFINITELY reminds me of daehwi they're basically father and son

Valpuri

the one you said looks like jimin is Ha Sungwoon and he is actually really close friends with Jimin, taemin and kai (:

Layla123

Just commenting before I begin watching to say how excited and glad I am that you''ll be watching Broduce! Going to be a nostalgia trip to look back on this haha. And yes omg those pop-up ads are so annoying, and those websites don't work if you have an adblocker on which makes it even weirder Also, this season was huge because of its impact outside of just Wanna One (who were HUGE huge, most successful Produce group ever and part of the top three boy groups overall, setting insane records even though they only had a year - it used to be EBS, EXO BTS SVT, but during that year it was ExBangWan) but because so many other contestants got a huge boost. The impact is felt in the industry to this day - groups like AB6IX, CIX, etc. are obvious examples of members coming from Produce but this season had the highest percentage of trainees who got a lot of attention and support and that translated into a large number of projects/groups/solo artists coming out of this season

Shia

The thing about the No. 1 seat is yeah it doesn't really make anything as you said but i think it's one way to get a screen time since some of these trainess have to fight to get even 5 seconds of screen time on the show (some doesn't get it at all unfortunately) hence why some of them really wants to sit there just to get this tiny chance of catching the audiences' eyes. And you might know this already but Wanna One is veeeeery popular. They were huge when they're still around. If you see the record updates like album sales, or digitals, or awards, etc you'll still see them being up there despite already been disbanded around 2 years ago. They were once beside EXO and BTS in terms of success, hence why there was so much hype for this season of produce. I'm really glad you decided to react to this:D P.S. I am Shia from twitter who gave you the drive link!! You can let me know if you have any problems with the video and maybe i can upload it again somewhere else hehe

Layla123

Quick context comment for Nu'est: 4/5 of Nu'est appeared on the show (Aron was injured). Their situation by the start of the show was *extreme*. They had less than five fans tuning into their vlives (there's a story about how they thought their 2017 New Year greetings was going to be the last because no one tuned in), very poor (almost nothing) album sales, and in general were very close to disbandment. Their 2012 debut was a huge hit (Face held the record for biggest debut in terms of YouTube views for a long time btw) but their subsequent releases didn't take off and Pledis pushed them into Japan for years which made them very obscure to the Korean public (and Pledis can't promote in Japan for shit - SVT have been doing a bit better because they learned from most of their mistakes earlier and they set up a separate Japanese sub-label for them). But Produce literally saved Nu'est. Their personalities and their appearance on the show gave them such a huge boost that to this day they're one of the biggest boy groups in Korea, huge individual public recognition, a steady fanbase, they do decently digitally for a boy group. They won their first music show 7 years after debut, becoming the group who took the longest ever to win. Their revival is nothing short of a miracle indeed

I actually have a lot of school work to do but i saw this and knew I couldn't wait.. I had to watch it now! I watched the season when it came out and it holds a special memory in my heart even tho I didn't really stan Wanna One hard. I did keep up with them and their content, variety shows etc. at the time they were promoting quiet decently tho.. the final group was just so good and well-balanced imo but also the trainees who didn't get chosen in the end were all good as well (obviously, they wouldn't have come this far otherwise). I got flooded with nostalgia seeing you react to this bc I remember being so invested in this season, goose bumps hit me hard in the first couple minutes. I can't wait to hear your opinions and see who you'll be rooting for, Jeff! For me it is also interesting to revisit this season with you because you get to see a lot of people's starting point and can compare it to where they are now. Ahhhh idk, I'm just so excited for this! That hairstyle looks great on you btw!! ^^

Shia

Agree with you! Some of these people are really different back then from what they are now, I'm excited to see how Jeff will be surprised seeing the people he's familiar with right now mostly in terms of stage presence and personality

Layla123

I'm sorry I'm spamming lol last comment for now I swear, but it's so interesting to go back and watch this season and see just how it's impacted the later seasons too. Like Jisung/Daniel/the MMO guys getting the 'gossip' edit which they used later for Dongpyo/DSP guys in Produce X; going from "Brand New Music trains idols huh?" in this season to just accepting that BNM trainees in Produce X are a group to watch out for etc.

MinSeo Kim

After Produce 101, NU'EST became huge... This show saved them!

Shia

Oh jeff! just to let you know that you got the wrong thumbnail hehe the one you used is the logo for Produce X 101 hence the X in the middle·ᴗ· You might need to look for the real PD101 S2 logo

Mia Zak

I'm so happy that you're reacting to this show!! Watching Broduce while it was on in 2017 was honestly such a fun time so I'm super excited to revisit it with you!

Hi, this is my first comment on your patreon because I want to talk about NU’EST to give you a clear look on their story. NU’EST was the 1st boy group of Pledis and the company's management at that time was really bad. Because of that and also back luck, NU'EST didn't really have a fanbase in Korea and was considered as a failed, hopeless project. For years, Pledis sent them to Japan and they were on a complete hiatus from Korean promotions, to the point that made them unknown and invisible to the Korean public. And since Produce 101’s ranking is obviously based on Korean public, I don’t think their participation is unfair to other trainees at all. Like Baekho (Dongho) said, they wouldn’t come here if their situation wasn’t this bad. They had to participate in the show to save their group, because the company was about to give up on them. About what you said, while I do agree that NU'EST’s audition is not A material, I think it’s quite understandable. To other trainees, this could be seen as the beginning of a journey, an opportunity to go up, but for them, this is the last chance they got right before the end of the road, as they did it just to prevent the disbandment. So instead of hope, there was only desperation. It was worse for them than other idols on the show because they come from a big company with big groups like Seventeen and popular idols like 2 former members of I.O.I. There was so much pressure and their mental health was messed up pretty bad. While filming for the show, they had to receive treatment because of anxiety disorder. That's why at the beginning of the show, they couldn't really show their full talent. It was kinda depressing seeing them losing their spirit in the first few episodes, but as the show went on, they really went back on track and were shining in their own ways. For me, this was the best progression and inspiring story of this season. So I hope you will watch them with non-judgemental eyes. Thank you ^^

Idon'tknow

That's funny to me because they only have like a year age difference. I can see it. It's just funny.

milky

Samuel is mixed. His father is Mexican so that's maybe why you think he has a different face.

mistywolf the dragon rider

I love Ong Seongwu so much, I found him from his work as an actor, he was the male lead in the drama "Moment at Eighteen", which is one of my favorite dramas of all time (Moonbin was also in it!). From that I found his solo songs, and he is so multi-talented it's crazy. And Nu'est, omg... I really hope you check out more of their music after this, I think you would love them too. One member, Aron, didn't compete because he had a leg injury, but all 4 other members did. You are right that competing on produce boosted their popularity a huge amount, so much that their older songs started trending. They were always talented, but the way Pledis handled their early promotions was awful. I'm just really glad they were able to prove themselves on this show, and get a lot of new fans who can support them. This was basically their last chance, and they were able to take it and get everything out of it that they possibly could. I can't wait for you to see their progression over the course of this show, it's really amazing.

eve_ss

After watching this you'll realize that it's full of familiar faces ☺️ Most successful survival show season I must say. 💚 Also, watching this again with you I feel so nostalgic and I feel like crying. I miss those days 🥺 and just with this episode reaction I could already say that my upgraded tier is so worth it. ❤ Thank you so much for this! I'm sure you'll gonna love this season as well. 🥰

eve_ss

Seventeen, as we probably all know, was supposed to debut with 17 members. SAMUEL was probably the most well known ex-trainee member of Seventeen and he was also the youngest (born 2002). He left the company around 2013 because his mom thought that he was too young to be an idol. (he's just around 11y.o at that time.)

eve_ss

ONG SEONGWOO's audition was one of my favorites on this season. ❤ His charisma is overflowing! and he's so good at everything! and with that visual too!! Like it's so unfair! He's unreal! 🥰 Some of my favorite auditions were on episode 2 so I'm really looking forward and so excited with your upcoming reaction ☺️

Layla123

Just a slight point - they never actually had 17 members predebut at any point of time. The max number they had was 16 at some point during 17TV, with multiple trainees leaving (and some joining, like Minghao joining much later) but by the time Seventeen Project came around the group number was 13 and they were set to debut with that. There were theories as to why Seventeen, like initially the plan might have been to have different sub-groups or to explain it as the average age of the members at debut etc. in addition to wanting to debut a full group of 17 people, but in the end they didn't want to change the branding they had with 17TV and Seventeen Project so they ended up just keeping the name SVT and coming up with that 13+3+1 explanation lol

Rewatching this breaks my heart. The witch-hunting during this season was insane and the amount of hate that they we’re getting was too much. Especially when people were insulting Haknyeon and Daehwi because their fathers were passed away. But I’m happy that at least now they’re they’re doing not that bad in their respective groups. I think all the trainees suffered so much during produce and a lot of them were still suffering even after produce. Unfortunately some of them disappeared or their career after produce wasn’t that successful. But this season was the most successful and the most well done season. Also I think that in GENERAL the trainees from this season were more talented than any other seasons.

vega

I'm so happy to rewatch this season with you :) It's by far the idol survival with best rating. Everyone said so many interesting things and I just want to had that their Korean fanbase is really strong, I was in korea a little less than 2 years ago and I want to a big show with a lot of artists and some of them where from Wanna one (it was a long time after their disband) . They had the same or better welcome than SM or JYP groups and they weren't even together.

Anonymous

I play a string instrument and that guitar was so out of tune! It made my ears bleed lol. No matter how well you can play it's always neccessary to tune before playing 🤣😂

Val

this show introduced me to nu'est properly, and i really love them. it was just so sad to find out just how badly pledis treated them and everything i'm so glad they managed to save themselves. actually 3/6 of oneus are on this series! hwanwoong, keonhee and seoho (he went by gun min then but legally changed his name to seoho) there are so many people here who have debuted now so it's really emotional to see this series again and i'm really excited to see your reactions to stages and who you root for and so on.

Chloe Borley-Evans

Haknyeon was edited pretty badly at points during the series and it' so sad that it caused such an impact to his image. I got put of stanning the Boyz because of Haknyeon and I feel terrible about it. They're one of my favourite groups right now and even though he still isn't one of my favourite members, I don't dislike him like I used to when I first watched produce. The shows are amazing but I hate it that Mnet edits trainees/idols like that

Chloe Borley-Evans

You can always tell that you've watched too many survival shows when I sat and said '없습니다' at the same time you did when they were ranking the Yuehwa trainees

Madina Hanf

I never knew that pd101 s2 is the most successful one between all of the season cause i only watch and follow the 2nd season. But i think i know why cause actually there's 3 group that come out from the season, 2 being a fan project group (group that was created because of high demand/request from fans), the first one was formed of a few trainee who didn't make it to the 3rd evaluation (RAINZ), and the other one was formed of a few trainee who got eliminated in the 3rd evaluation or top 35 (JBJ). And my favorite group is actually not wanna one, but jbj. Maybe you wanted to check them out along with wanna one after the whole show end

mina

Thank you for reacting to this im gonna re-watch this with you again probably the millionth time and cry my eyes out cause i just miss Wanna One so much plus this season was just the best so much growth in every trainee yet also so much drama.

Kaszy Notte

The women mentors in this season are so dope. You got BoA who’s like the performance queen. Kahi can eat up a stage so can Cheetah! QUEENs. The vocal coach IS so cute, she’s so pretty ahhhhh

Cat R

I just want to warn that Haknyeon sadly fell victim to evil editing from MNet in this so if his personality seems less than stellar just know that's why :l This is one of my favorite survival shows, I watched it when it was airing mainly for Samuel and Nu'est (I didn't stan them but I liked a few songs and was curious to see what they would do on the show) but I ended up loving so many of the trainees and the groups they debuted in later! Yes Hwanwoong from Oneus is in this but so is Keonhee (spelled gunhee or something like that in these I think for some reason) and Seoho (he went by Gunmin at this time). Also, I have to say Bae Jinyoung (from CIX) has improved SOOO much since his audition here to now, I'm excited for you to see his growth!

Erley

I hope you react to Nu'est W after you finish the series. If you didn't know when Minhyun got into WannaOne the rest the members decided to form Nu'est W(the W stands for waiting meaning they were waiting for Minhyun). Like pervious comments said this show saved Nu'est from disbandment. After the show ended their older songs started to chart and they were getting recognition. So they decided to promote as a unit. And during that promotion time they got their first win unfortunately without one of their members but it was still special. They were go on to win multiple awards and win a couple in front of their member. What was so adorable was Minhyun was such as fanboy of them. He loved all of their songs especially deja Vu which hd got perform with them at Kcon. So please please please react to Nu'est W songs and and their new songs..

Anonymous

your reaction to bae jinyoung is ME lmaoo he was so cute and shy now he's so manly and confident

WIZONEITLOΛEB10

I hope if you have a chance pls watch ‘The journey of Nuest’ (it up on YouTube but there are spoiler of the finalist of pd so you could wait till you finish this first😉) it a story about their uneasy path to become one of successful group and their story was one of the most inspirational story for me it gave me courage to pursue my dream so I really want you to watch it. I think it because of pressure that make them suffer in a couple of first ep (they get so much hate by knet to joining this program) but later on you will see their potential. Nuest is super talented and deserve attention so I hope you could take a look at them in the future too☺️.

Anonymous

Please don't give a spoiler about the final lineup of W1. Jeff also said in the video that he doesn't know who's gonna be in W1 yet so we should keep it to ourselves

디아 Dia

I like you reaction this program but i feel sad if i rewatch ehat they do to haknyeon and haknyeon's mom that evil editing in another episode make me so mad to MNET. Because after that hanyeon got a lot of insults and insults about what he didn't do, he just got evil editing on mnet, even his mother being treated by the public

slampoets

Just a heads up that MNET did Halnyeon dirty on this Show. He isnt what MNET make him out to be and sad that he even gained antis because pf this Show.

Anonymous

I feel you ! A lot of my picks didn't got into wannaone but in JBJ that's why I enjoyed the later better

Irving

I actually watch px101 (x1) and p48 (izone) they are my favs, but never actually watched this season and I have always wanted to watch it so now I watching it with you lol

Anonymous

Finally was waiting for you Jeff to react to this season and I am still gona say that this is the best season out of the produce series I rest my case! Testament to how many familiar faces you recognised from the audition stage so many members of known groups came out of this season like Ab6ix, CIX, N.flying, The Boyz, Rainz, JBJ, Wei, Nuest, soloists and duos as well just the amount of growth from the best performance stages just gave this guys platform to start over after the show. I do agree with you that the editing is a bit messy and rushed this season maybe because they are one episode shorter than produce x101. Anyways hopefully you will be convinced after watching the whole season 2 enjoy! P.S for all commenters PLEASE dont write any spoilers about the members of Wanna One that Jeff does not know yet will absolutely ruin the whole thing so lets keep it for ourselves until he finds out.

Chee

The one you said looks alike Jimin in 24:26 is Sungwoon. he is best friend with Jimin actually along with Kai, Taemin, ravi and Timoteo. they are called Padding squad.

Anonymous

This reminds of ONE, YG did him dirty. He just “debuted” and then disappeared

Anonymous

the Yuehua Entertainment boys later go on to Idol Producer ( Produce 101 China). They become more mature and perform better. I am not going to lie I like Idol Producer's performance better. I believe that if you have time you should check out Idol Producer you will like it.

Anonymous

I'm here for the 'Dark Horse' of this show who shows tremendous growth, versatility, and personality. And the one who has the capability to surprise you every episode.

AmyY927

OMGG Jeff I love your hair 😍😍 SOOOO excited for this new series and super excited to see who’s going to be your fave FAVE

Suzanne Austen

Are you going to watch the first season?

BaoziBang

When Hweseung defended the first Place through arm wrestling I remembered that even though he is one of our N.Flying Maknae's he finished his Service a while ago 🤣 don't get fooled by his adorable face 😉😂

Aid

I was so excited after knowing that you'd react to produce 101 s2 jeff, and knowing that you watched kingdom, I know you'd see some of them here!! I'm excited for your reaction and analysis to the upcoming episodes. I'm an hard wanna-onee stan btw!!!

Mattie H.

So Jeff for Samuel, he was gonna debut with SVT at like 12, he's born in 2002. And his mother pulled him out because she thought he was too young. He did some other rap group stuff, etc but now he's a solo artist. Sad fact, you might've heard about his father Jose Arredondo who was murdered in his home in Mexico a while back.

Chi T.

Really hope you can react to I-Land once you are done with Produce :D

brightraes

Been following NU'EST since their trainee days and honestly it was so hard watching them go through this. Literally cried again just rewatching this episode with you. I could feel the struggles they were going through and it was so hard to watch. They started off strong in their debut but as the years went by, their fanbase just got smaller and smaller due to the many concept changes people didn't like and eventually, they found themselves in debt. But I'm so happy and glad this program helped turn their career around for them. They got their first win as a full group after 8 years. If there was any group I'm super proud of, it was definitely them, especially for not giving up. I hope you can react to more of their music on your channel! They actually have a lot of great music + they will be making their comeback soon!

Anonymous

This made me realize that Jeff hasn’t seen Got7’s Just Right and If You Do... 🤭Please react to them 💕

I'm super excited to re-watching this with you. I like all the contestants, they all just so talent. It was hard, watching them going trough things, and getting eliminate.

Brissett

I Know this comment was a while back, I met nu'est with the last album Romantize, and I love it, I am starting to know them because i want to stan them as well. I was wondering why if they have been in the industry for a while, and if they are so talented, why their fanbase is small and now your comment gave me an idea why. Their music is reeally good

Anonymous

Totally forgot Samuel was in here, he totally deserved to debut in wanna one, it makes me so mad to remember 😫
