Yes, the audience definitely voted based on the songs (and the popular members too). I think the audience vote did the Her team dirty, their performance was good and they embraced the concept. Like you said, it feels like the song was theirs. They deserved a higher rank. Monster team was very solid. I am good with them winning no. 1. Juliette team was very unfortunate because Juliette’s concept is tricky. It is something that only SHINee can pull off. The team made it look cute and it was difficult for me to watch. Now thinking again, I actually don’t like song covers that much because I could not fully enjoy it without comparing lmao. I was laughing and agreeing with you a lot on the comment of how to lift and be lifted in choreo. I have learned it the hard way, I didn’t hold my core and I fell so hard lmao. But it is fascinating to see how our bodies change and react to it once we have learned and mastered it. Great reaction from you as usual, I can’t wait for next week.

I dont think the original julliet performance is this cute tho... it is cute because SHINee was so young (in 2009 i guess) not that they performed it as a cute concept song :( btw SHINee's live performance of julliet is amazing with their vocals, hope u can check it out!

Btw Run is from The Most Beautiful Moment in Life: Young Forever lol And i have something to say about the fire peformance, i think their peformance was really great like if you compared with others trying to do cover for that song it really don’t work that well. You say early about they not trying to be the originals singers but while watching the peformance we feel comparing and we can’t do nothing about that right?!, more because we are so familiar to the original that ‘sounds strange’ kinda hearing some others different voices singing it, me myself feel strange too but i like because they put they own style for rap or singing to fit the peformance and about the first rap (ungjae from IMFACT) it’s really ungjae’s style the way that he did it, and i found it really good to him to put his own style to fit this song, so in general i like this peformance because they don’t sound so similar to the original we could see their own style in their voices, about the dance they killed like the original so we have a balance lol

soo 1. Marco will change his hair, but not in the next episode 2. If any of BTS stans haven't seen their cover on Shinhwa's Perfect Man (Jimin was on fire that day) you should go watch for education 3. I wish Boom Boom team had a variaty of outfits not a "uniform" situation. It would be more fun imo About rankings I would say it's not about songs, but about groups I think MAMAMOO are really popular, and that's why their song won. Funny thing for me tho that I tend to compare them to SPICA which was Yang Jiwon's group lol I would place Give It To Me first but ok Also with boys who would expect songs by EXO and BTS be lower then second place? Anyway I don't really pay attention to rankings it kills fun (as a consumer I love the Perfect Man team the most) About age I think SeYong and Feeldog were 26 at the time, too. And some of the older guys made it to the final group and military was not an issue, the group was promoting only for a year. My next comment is highly irrelevant so if you're easily triggered skip it haha

So I was in my B.A.P feelings lately and thought Jeff, maybe you can make a corner on your channel or even a tier here so some of us could suggest some older groups? I understand that you're busy and it kinda makes more sense to react to groups that are active and popular, but I would be so happy to see your reaction to B.A.P, Toppdogg and more VIXX, and I am pretty sure, I'm not alone Hope you'll think about it

SHINee songs are very difficult to cover. The dance, the vocal and the concept are unique for SHINee only. Watching these make me so nostalgic that I have to watch old SHINee performance again :((

my favorite performance was definitely Her. the vocals, rapping and dancing was great. and they had the same energy as the original song.

This is so random but Jeff, if you haven't watched True Beauty yet, I wanna say that Jungha from the Heartbeat Team (the one you said you like) HE WAS IN TRUE BEAUTY EPISODE 1! I was shocked because I didn't saw his name on the list of casts. But you will see him on the first episode. Hahaha.

I think if the producers wanted a cute concept SHINee song they would have been better selecting something like Hello. I think in an older interview with SHINee they talked about how the point chorography was kind of risque because they were meant to be drawing the curves of a women with their hands. The lyrics really aren't that cutesy either. Also Heartbeat has me so nostalgic for 2pm, I hope since Changsung will be out of the military soon we'll be getting a comeback..

Your comment about Jun being on stage with Rain makes me think about how ace have some really unexpected friends, acquaintances and fans among korean stars, and how public is, you know, blind... I mean distracted haha

Agree on Fire, I think the dancing was good, but vocally it doesn’t feel like they had the right folks for this song. I think Hangyul’s voice would have been better for the start and end, and vocally Jude’s voice isn’t quite right for this too. I forgot his name but the guy from A.cian was better. Digressing a little, I really liked Hangyul during the unit. His image then was rougher, more masculine, which really suited him so well. His post Produce 101x styling seems a bit… For the heartbeat group I am not sure if it’s a case of Eui Jin asking for the choreo to be changed because he had a hard time only…they had practiced 1 version of the choreo and then Seyong could have made a quite a number of changes that weren’t shown in the cut…The end result performance was very good though so however they managed to resolve it worked! Monster vocally was good especially Lee Geon! The rap wasn’t so good yeah but I don’t think this group really had rappers? (most of them sing in their original groups no?). I don’t think if there had been other people in this group, they could have pulled it off quite as much. Not sure why Donghyun topped this group though. I think maybe he was still one of the most well-known of the group at that point in time hmmm. Juliet I didn’t really like…maybe I am just an aunty and can’t stomach cute concepts ahhaha. I think the members wanted to try a cute concept but at least half of them don’t really suit a cute concept…so I think it was always going to be a tough one to pull off… Perfect man was good too! Chan’s voice was actually so suitable for this. I think though with the older choreo and style of song it might have just been a bit harder to excite the audience…Jun (ukiss) is just…Jun (he just knows what he’s doing. He’s quite young too tho, maybe hanging around older members in ukiss helped lol). I think the styling for the boom boom team was a let down..too baggy Y_Y and as someone else said…too uniform. The camerawork was a bit weird too? The exciting bits of the choreo I felt I couldn’t see in full cos it’s zoomed in on someone’s face for some reason bleah. I think you miss the reason why they were dancing during the vocal coaching. Jo Hyunah asked if they could dance while singing and everyone was a bit stunned, then Feeldog just yelled “yes we can!” lol and everyone then went along with it and gave it their all. That’s why the mentors said they had the best attitude. And they did. No bad vibes wherever feeldog goes, ever lol. Her was good too…I’m not sure why it ranked so low. ☹ It’s a fun song too and should have been exciting. Her was by block B tho, so…Zico! Kanto. Good 😊 Most of the MAS guys here…you wouldn’t notice they were band guys looking at this perf. About ages, just want to mention that I think they mention Korean ages so you would want to deduct 1 year from all the numbers from what you hear. I hadn’t watched along with you for the Produce series; but it sounds like you agree with (and had a lot of the same thoughts) as the mentors 😊. The mentors here are really much kinder than the other shows I feel. and it's not you. this rain album didn't do well. It's legendary now for other reason tho hahah you can search "1 gang a day". Rain himself has gone on tv and joked along with the whole meme phenomenon tho, so he's totally chill about it (which is very cool of him). I really wish that they put more attention with SHINee’s Juliette on the vocals. It’s a really high pitch song and the highlight really lacked for me cuz... it’s really vocally centered especially the falsetto and high notes. Understandably, JH tone is really hard to do so I get why they changed it but it’s truly a bit lackluster for me.

It's so funny to see gang at that time!! It became one of Rain big hit recently and put him back on the map but at that time it was such a fail

I like perfect man and her performance. I played their perfect man quite often after that episode aired hahaha. And same i was so shocked her ranked last. The song itself is good, block b is ateez senior. So yeah that company has unique song. Her was really popular and zico's part was iconic, then kanto did cover it very well

I think you might enjoy them! #1- hot blood dance crew, #2 - street dance of china, #3 - the 8 (I think) chinese versions of the produce series [I feel like you might enjoy these 8 or so series! Especially Idol Producer, Produce 101 China, Qing Chun You Ni, and Youth With You. *all written the way I typed it out. ]

Rain is known for being a type a perfectionist so I would not be surprised if he was that angry especially that it’s his comeback stage after 3 years of hiatus. This comeback didn’t do particularly well because to put it simply Rain tried too hard when he should’ve stuck to what he does best. It all comes full circle now because Gang went viral this year and Rain became even more popular.

I completely forgot how great Kanto's rap in Block B's "Her" was and I was pleasantly surprised, because I love that song! That Zico's rap part is tricky to do, it's hard hitting and playful at the same time, so I'm glad Kanto was on point with that :) Overall that performance was my favorite, but I missed Taeil's (main vocal of Block B) voice in the bridge hah I hope you will see the original performance someday! Block B is a great group (currently on hiatus because of the military enlistments + Zico's still in the group btw, he's their leader). Also! You NEED to see BTS covering Shinhwa's "Perfect Man"!! That performance is iconic, even Shinhwa's members highly praised them for that cover. I started listening to Shinhwa after that BTS stage and "Perfect Man" is one of my favorite kpop songs of all time ;)

Her is actually one of my all time favorite kpop songs. It just makes me so happy. You should check out the original by Block B, it's really great. I agree with you about Rain's songs but that first one, Gang, seems to be super popular in Korea. A lot of people have covered it. As much as I love Rain I can't bring myself to like the song. I can't wait for the next episodes, especially for the girls it has some of my favorite performances (I'm especially looking forward to your reaction to the girls doing Jackpot, another Block B song, but in their own killer way)

Yes this is why I don't like it when the audience votes for these things instead of professionals or people in the industry. It becomes a popularity contest, both with the members in the team and the song that they have. I also remember not really liking the Fire team too much, they were fine but it lacked that special something to pull you in. I think Her should have ranked higher too, it was so fun and engaged the audience a lot. In the end, I like the final members that ended up in the group even if a lot of them were there due to "popularity" so I can't complain too much but I do think there should be a more objective way of voting.

I was confused when Donghyun placed first in the Monster team too, cause honestly he didn't actually stand out to me and I didn't really like his vocals in the performance. Jeup and Lee Geon were so much better in my opinion

So by the way. I read the comments thinking someone would say it but was surprised no one did! So! Suwoong trained with BTS to debut with them, but was taken out and replaced with Jin. So he left Big Hit and debuted with Boys Republic in the same year BTS debuted.

And then with Seyong vs Euijin, it's a sticky situation. Korea places high emphasis on hierarchy, and they have a weird one. Seyong is one year younger than Euijin so that puts Euijin>Seyong. But Seyong debuted with MYNAME in 2011, and Euijin didnt debut until several years later. So that makes Seyong his senior by several years and puts Seyong over him. In this situation people usually go with seniority over age, but Euijin was going with age instead. So that's what makes it so complicated there. Also!!! I want reactions to the groups from the Unit!!! Aka to MYNAME, to Boys Republic, etc!
