Just wanna inform you before you start the next episode, there's a group called MAS who joined the program. They are now called ONEWE, the brother group of ONEUS. One of their members, Dongmyeong is the fraternal twin brother of ONEUS's Xion. Dongmyeong also joined Produce 101 S2 before The Unit.

OMG Jeff! If you haven't heard Han Gyul is debuting in a new group along with Dohyun i believe the group is colled BAE173 I might be off on the name but he is debuting again! EDIT: I have now watched further than when I wrote this and have seen that you already know and I understand why now so you can ignore this then lol I just was super excited!

That dance group you said you really liked, MVP, actually only just released their 1st single since their 2017 debut abut 3 weeks ago called Every Day (there's no dancing in the MV though) and apparently they'll be releasing something in Jan. Their second performance that caught your interest was part of their debut song Take It. To clarify the 100% and Boyfriend auditions (the 2 at the same time that confused you) one member from each group got 6 boots from the judges (Rockhyun from 100% and Donghyun from Boyfriend) and the rest all got 0. Watch out for their vocals though! I think you're right in that there was something off with Boyfriend's audition but Donghyun probably sang after too and they just cut it (or they just know his skills already). Btw 2am and 2pm were originally one group called One Day that got split into 2. 2am was co-managed by JYP and Bighit between 2010 and 2014, all the members have since moved to different agencies but said they haven't disbanded.

Since I am stanning a 15 year old group (SuJu, under SM Ent.), I also belive that the ones who still lowers their head despite their popularity, can and will be able to raise their heads for a long time.

yes, agencies choose who you're going to be. There is a popular actor minjae, he trained as an idol, but the company debuted him as an actor. He dances beautifully, raps on different shows and sometimes he's sad because he couldn't become what he wants.

I comment again because Patreon ate mine earlier, oops. About JOO, the one trained with Hyun Ah, her contract with JYP ended in 2015, she joined Woolim after that. She didn't get to do a lot and didn't her name out there because she only has 2 albums for 5 years. So I guess The Unit is like a second chance for her. About Shin Ji Hoon, the one played piano and sang, she was famous in Kpop Star. You can search Kpop Star Shin Ji Hoon and see how JYP, YG and BoA got mesmerized by her singing. She was a figure skater when she was a child, so she can do difficult move like spin, axel and stuff. But somehow she can't dance lmao. About Seol Ha Yoon, the strategically lip-synced one, she is a trot singer. Trot is a Korean genre of music for middle-aged and old people. Trot's style and performance is very different from Kpop. Props to her for joining this type of idol survival show. Next ep there will be an ex SM trainee who we expected to be debuted with NCT but he left the company. I will comment more in the next ep. Can't wait for your reaction next week ahhhh.

Boyfriend are Monsta X senior group. Starship did them dirty basically - when it comes to Korean promotion... they had the potential to be excellent and popular, but they were basically pushed to promote in Japan for a long time, so they never managed to get popular and recognized in Korea. I think The Unit was their last chance and... it didn't really help.

Hotshot's TIMOTEO is a close friend of TAEMIN and KAI. He's a former trainee in SM actually. The 3 of them are also part of "Padding Squad" with Jimin (BTS), Ravi (VIXX), Ha Sungwoon (Hotshot/ WannaOne), and their non celebrity friend. The song MELODY DAY performed was TWINKLE by Girls' Generation sub-unit 'TTS' (TaeTiSeo). As you can guess, this trio unit were composed of GG's vocalist line so their songs were mainly vocal-centric. Please react to their MV as well. Pre-Debut EXO made a cameo there. Haha

Yuna Kim - the girl in yellow with full of confidence. She's actually one of the famous former YG trainee. She's really good at rapping and with singing as well. Her and Lee Suji (the next girl) were part of group THE ARK. They debuted with the song "THE LIGHT". Considering that they were from a small company, I could say that they were well recognized at that time. BTS even reacted to them. But maybe in terms of sales and stuff like that they didn't do well. So what happened was after their debut they went on hiatus and then the disbandment happened. It was so sad. Really. I was so rooting for them. They were so great in dancing and singing! and I love their song so much. I hope you could react to them as well.

I'm kinda curious what you think of this show compared to the produce series so far? I think when many of us recommended for you to watch this we mentioned we felt it was quite different...The audition episodes are quite long right? But I think it helps us to build empathy for the contestants and their motivations for joining. I also love how the comments explode after each Unit episode here...It's great to see the amount of love everyone has for the show and the contestants... I guess then it's time for contestant Trivia! Madtown (the guys with their CEO being caught up in fraud issues) - I guess the mentions of their track suits and them carrying plastic bags is that they looked decidedly unglam. _ their original label was J Tune camp which was actually formed after Rain left JYP. It was an agency that mainly handled Rain's work I believe. Later he sold his shares to JYP who then merged it with JYP. They had a subsidiary J Tune Camp that handled Mblaq (mentioned in the episode) and also Madtown Dia - The girl who has all the highlight, Chae Yeon, was on produce 101 and made it to the debut group IOI, so she became the most famous in Dia (and the others weren’t well known). The unit happened after produce 101 season 1 so… 100% - They mentioned the CEO of their company is Andy from Shinhwa, and Shinhwa is one of the first generation kpop idols (and also the longest running one without disbanding) - Unfortunately, one of the members who didn’t pass, their leader Minwoo, passed away in 2018 of a cardiac arrest at the young age of 33… Euna Kim, Janey, San E - San E was the host of Unpretty Rapstar - Both Janey and Euna were contestants on season 3 Marco from Hot Blooded Youth - It seems like he had auditioned for Show Me the Money 4 and passed the initial round (he’s been seen with the show me the money chain which those who pass are given??) its so sad to rewatch this show and see how happy hangyul and kijoong were together, hangyul really thought of him as his lil brother and remember now that mbk/pocketdolz did kijoong so dirty by not putting him in the final lineup of the new bg even tho they knew everyone was expecting him to be there and after how hard he worked and did so much for that company, hangyul and kijoong are some of the most hard working people and they went through so much together just to in the end not re-debut together because mbk sucks, kijoong even posted a big text cheering for hangyul after he made it into x1 lineup and saying how he couldnt wait for the day they could share the same stage again.... it breaks my heart to think of all this

the group you said you would've stan is MVP and when they debuted i was such a big fan and wanted to stan right away as well, their music and choreo were so good i was really excited about them and i was happy when they were on this show to more people get to know them but it was a shame that after that their company never gave them a comeback they werent even active on vlive and stuff, it was only last month 3 years after their debut that they made their 1st comeback but their company is so bad that didnt even promote it right :((

Also to answer your question about Hotshot The group was never really well known they were extremely underrated and I believe most people only knew of Hotshot because of Timoteo’s close friendship with Kai and Taemin I believe Timoteo was supposed to be in Exo but left SM before they debuted but I know he trained with both SHINee and Exo members before leaving

Sadly, people only seem to know about HOTSHOT, but not about their music. The group is known thanks to the members Timoteo and Sungwoon, and maybe also Taehyun. Timoteo is well known for being best friends with Taemin, Kai and Jimin from BTS. Ha Sungwoon is also in that group of friends (his BFF is Jimin <3) and he was on "Produce 101", won, then became a member of Wanna One (which means he was EXTREMELY popular) and now he has a solo career. Taehyun was on "Produce 101" with Sungwoon, didn't won, but debuted with JBJ, aka the 2nd group from Produce (fans demanded more members from the show to debut after "Produce 101" for the boys, so they debuted those members as JBJ). JBJ was less successful than Wanna One, but still great (and tbh not many groups can reach Wanna One's level of success). Both "The Unit" and "Produce 101" happened in 2017 (Produce was first), but after that HOTSHOT only had one comeback as a group in 2018.. After both shows I really fell in love with those members, but it's hard to support their group when they are not doing anything together. But I really love Ha Sungwoon (ex-Wanna One) as a soloist, he's an amazing vocalist and dancer, and he's the most active out of all HOTSHOT members. He even had a comeback recently.

ya i love how engaged everyone is in the comments with this show! i’m actually quite surprised as the unit only polled second to hit the stage. with that said, i think i’ll have to see it past the audition rounds to compare it to produce. but audition-wise, i think the contestants on the unit are better prepared. produce had some great auditions but a lot of them were based on potential whereas the unit had some debut worthy performances already.

i feel what you were saying about x1 with my whoooole heart TT i supported from the beginning and was 100% invested but their disbandment announcement completely shattered me because they were my almost 100% perfect lineup!!! my bias was dongpyo and all the boys' interactions together from the show and in their group were soo perfect~ legit i never cry for groups or disbandments but i actually cried i loove hangyul and dohyon too but now watching this show again, i completely forgot about IM and i wonder where kijoong is now cuz he was one of my biases for this show with daewon and i was rooting for those two sooo hard when i was watching this live TT

Kijoong seems to be in Dong-Ah Institute of Media and Arts (has recently posted some videos/photos from there on his instagram). With one of the guys (forgot his name >_< the one who does popping in Team Gikwang on dancing high).

A lot of people talked about some participants but no one did it for Euijin (SONAMOO), the girl appearing at 13:43 so here I am with my long rend about her and mostly her agency Why didn't SONAMOO success? Just one simple name ; TS Entertainment usually know as TSHIT (surname that us, the fans gave her) Aka her agency and mark my words : the worst agency that can exist in this industry. SONAMOO had everything : rap line on point with D.ANA & New Sun, an amazing vocal line and their dance were good especially DEJA VU choregraphy. TS just ruined everything like they always do with bad management, delayed comeback even when the fans helped and the list goes on. Sumin and Nahyun, two of the members filled a lawsuit against them. TS are not new to lawsuit since almost all their artist filled a lawsuit against them In September, this year's, they finally won against TS ENT. Now the others members are actives on social media, Euijin sometime post covers but no activities, no comeback. TS is a ruin I'm not surprise after all. We are still waiting in hope for a comeback even if we don't expect a lot. People who don't know about TS and all the horrible things they did to theirs artistes, will ask me : Why TS ENT is the worst? I didn't tell the whole story about this trashy agency. I'm mostly a fan of B.A.P but I loved all the artist in TS ENT, I saw and followed everything they did. B.A.P's story is the most well know because they were one of the biggest group from 2012 to 2014 with EXO. They were so big that they literally shut down TIME SQUARE in 2013. They could have been one of the biggest act if TS ENT did ruin and abused them : mentally, physically and the list again goes on. Their live of 1004 Angel in Kpop World Festival 2014 is one of the proof of B.A.P's mistreatment. Us, BABYz, we can't watch this performance because it's so painful. They didn't care about doctor's orders and put Daehyun, B.A.P's main vocalist even when he was wounded on stage. For all the mistreatment that B.A.P had to endure with TS I can continue because the list is so long : didn't pay them, slave contract, forced them to perform even with bad conditions, overwork, cut off of their family. I'm thankful now the members are in solo and out of this agency after a long fight Another terrible story : TRCNG. Honestly, I think Jeff, you would love them especially because of their choregraphy. Their story? Two member sued TS ENT for child abuse, violence, extortion and mismanagement. According to them, they were forced to train from 5 p.m. to 5 a.m without a break when they were still minors. Deprived of sleep, they could no longer go to class and they eventually had to drop out of their school before joining another later because they could no longer attend class. The living conditions of TRCNG were also terrible. You have pictures that DISPATCH posted and it's horrible to just think kids where living in this. TS Entertainment was not providing the group with anything. The agency did not pay for their meals, electricity or water, they did not even fix all the damaged things in the dormitory TW/ ABUSE, VIOLENCE According to the members, choreographer Yoon hit the boys several times. WOOYEOP say that he hit him with an iron chair, which left him injured for 2 weeks. Also according to his lawyer, an employee also extorted 1.2 million won from him Taeseon, the other member also explained that he was getting beaten since the days they were trainees because he was the leader. He always got hit on the head ---- SLEEPY, SONAMOO, SECRET, B.A.P, TRCNG all of them had so many hard time because of this agency. Always not pay, slave contract, some abused mentally and physically etc Not to mention that the rest of SONAMOO and TRCNG are still in this agency , it's terrible. Yeah Wanna One was something else. Sungwoon ❤ yeah he is definitely the most active. JBJ was such a good group too... I'm especially proud of Hyunbin... And Taehyun is such a great dancer.. but yeah now the grp ofc disbanded but we still have 2 members together named JBJ95 I hope Jeff will get to watch Produce 101 S2 coz it's honestly... for me at least but it's the best season out of all the produce 101 seasons lemme know if u agree 🤷🏻‍♀️ There was also RAINZ omg... Idk if you know this but melodydays is from a same agency as The Boyz and 100% is from a same agency as mcnd and up10tion (top media artists are just amazing especially when it comes to how stable their vocal are on live stages every single group from teentop to mcnd are sooo talent for me it just the agency that hell all of them back//I heard you talk about wooseok I also agree about his solo song I'm actually a big fan of him and he is my pick all throughout the show but looking back it just not what I enjoy listening frequently but I hope you checkout his group up10tion instead (eventhough he might not comeback to his group anymore (I wish he would but it just so hard right now) but his group mates is amazing too// jinhyuk and bitto(the guy in hit the stage) and other members too)

This one is the saddest episode. As for boyfriend. They used to be popular idol. And i dont know. They didnt have comeback for a quite long time. And the fact that they are in the same company as monsta x, boyfriend is monsta x senior :(
