yayy so excited. i've been waiting since you said you were going to react to it. there's not much that's new knowledge of them for me but it is interesting to hear them talk more about their lives from themselves. it feels more intimate than reading it from an article or something else.

Victoria

this documentary made me very emotional because i've been with them since their debut, they've come so far. also the blackpink concerts look amazing, i really want to go to one!

This documentary has really humanized them for a lot of fans, that only made the connection even stronger and tighter. I was personally so happy to have heard a lot more stories about their trainee days since people are quick to discredit groups who come from the Big 3 since they say are 'privileged'. And while we should not fail to acknowledge that privilege they get debuting in a big company, people should realize the hard work and struggles they have to undergo in order just to be selected to debut to be worthy of that privilege, in which also amounts to success stories of how other groups from smaller companies that made it big from hard work as well. Since, you mentioned, I just hope that everyone especially in stan twitter learns or realizes that these idols/groups are not really competing each other but our just people always trying to outdo themselves every single time, they work hard not for us fans to pit them against each other but for them to show us always a better version of themselves as performers, it is always for the fans for them so we should learn to appreciate that alone and avoid giving negativity back. Sorry for being triggered on that, its just that stan twitter is really too much at these present times haha. By the way, the song the Rose was singing is Hope Not from the Kill this Love Ep. Hope you can listen to more of their other songs now :). More power to you Jeff.

Hey I wanted to know if you’ve heard of Youth With You? It’s a survival show where they are creating a new Chinese Girl Group. There are 4 Mentors/Teachers and Lisa’s one of them she’s a dance teacher.

on the office work/performance differences: i totally agree. i find office hours tiring in the long run, mainly due to the mental engagement you have rather than the physical one. however, as i am also a performer, i'd say that the fatigue you get after a two hour performance is waaaaaaaaay heavier to tolerate. at times i find myself in bed the day following a performance, with pain all over my body, not wanting to move a sole muscle cause that'd just tire me out even more. it's really two different things, and as much as working is difficult because you have lots of responsibilities and rules and tasks to perform and achievements to reach, it's really not comparable to a performance which tires you out both physically and mentally.

i love this documentary, thank u for reacting to it!, it really helped bridge the gap between bp and blinks, there wasn't much communication before between us (in terms of the inner-business aspects) so you were bound to get ppl who were crossing the lines without even being aware of it because they don't know what exactly goes down behind the scenes, after this there was much more understanding and respect that came out from both sides, i agree with u that it's good that this came out, for blackpink, for the fans...but even some haters or people who had a bad impression of them for whatever reason to watch it and actually see who they are and not what they are portrayed by the media as. although i know, not everything was covered cause it is still early in their career, i'm hoping in the future when they've done much more and have established themselves even further to have another documentary (but maybe 2-3hrs long this time lol) where they can talk about the more deeper issues they've experienced, and what they've gone through mentally as idols + to address things that ppl either made up or misunderstood about them, who theyr friends with (tiny fact i think u'd like, jisoo is friends with doyoung from nct cause they used to mc together on inkigayo) but usually only sunbae (senior) idol groups with about...6-7+ years upwards can talk about such things without getting in trouble by their company or backlash. also, a drama jisoo stars in that comes out in march called 'snowdrop' it would b cool to see u react (only if u want!). it's by the same director as sky castle.

The craziest part about when they were talking about their trainee days, is that they are REALLY sugarcoating it. The industry the is WAAY harsher than they described. I know how you said that when they get eliminated they might get another month or two to still prove themselves, nope, once your out your out. Also if your not in a big company that can pay for your training expenses, then sometimes you have to pay back those expenses. If you really look deeply in the Industry of kpop training it legit seems like some type of slave camp.

I have liked their music but before them I never given them a full chance and it is mainly cause I felt YG just threw 2NE1 away and put them in their place. I am glad that I get to see them in a better light now.

jeffavenue

totally! broadway artists who does like 8 shows a week that are of 2 hour shows would agree as well!

jeffavenue

that's good to hear that blinks and non-fans are able to appreciate this documentary and build respect towards blackpink and hopefully any other idols out there who puts themselves in this career. definitely hoping for that 2-3 hour documentary in the future too! haha

jeffavenue

ya I can see that being the case (re: sugarcoating). of course they need to filter somewhat cause YG may get backlash for its reality. it's truly a tough industry. you gotta LOVE what you're doing if you wanna be in this. cant just be in it for the money haha

jeffavenue

it's good that you were open to it! I myself have heard things here and there, and I'm glad that I was able to see for myself what they really do instead of basing it off other aspects.

jeffavenue

ya stan twt can be very eye-rolling at times haha. and you're right, being in the big 3 do have their privileges but what people are forgetting is that trainees need to EARN those privileges. they have to be at the level that these companies want them to be, and to get there, they need to work HARD.

I really would love for you to check out their full coachella performance. I found a link to the whole set of their 1st week performance: https://youtu.be/keAv2KFHzK0

I actually didn't know that rosé has been feeling pressured and has been having trouble expressing herself through music. Cause i know blinks have been guilty of asking yg to release her solo because it has been promised for 2 years now. I actually felt bad that because of us, she felt pressured. After watching this docu, I just want her to take her time, however long that may be and give us a solo performance that she's satisfied with :)

One thing I learnt from this is that the girls have a lot more control than we believe, especially now that they are literally Global stars . Since you were talking about the comments you see on twitter, I am sure you have seen some that claim some member(s) are favored (which could be true) but this documentary kinda opened my eyes. Like, they get to choose or at least have a say in what outfits they wear on stage, YG isn't sabotaging Rosie's solo; instead we find out she just has a great deal of respect for music and does not want to release just another song. So, I was so glad that they released this documentary.

Sheryl Lenia

It would be nice to see his reaction to how Lisa mentors the trainees and her relationships with both the trainees and other mentors but it has so many episodes so idk if he would be able to react to the whole of season 2.

jeffavenue

ooooo i would LOVE a rose solo! i feel like it’d be more acoustic and i love that kind of music!

I waited someone with whom I can watch this, cause I can't watch this kind of staff alone. Thank you for your reaction, because of this video I became patreon, I really enjoyed. This documentary is so good, I really love BlackPink.

Dianne

I literally became a patreon because of this and thank you for appreciating it.

I had to make a patreon account to subscribe to you and watch this, and it was definitely worth it! I seriously love your insights and I enjoyed this reaction thoroughly. ♥️ I was very interested to know people’s insights about this documentary and basically, almost all (if not all) have seen Blackpink in a different light. And the term “humanize” popped up a lot in people’s comments/reviews, which I love and totally agree with!

Anonymous

my first time becoming a patreon. thanks for reacting and appreciating blackpink's documentary. I love hearing from you, knowing that it's from someone who knows from their first-hand experience about stuff going on behind the scene. when rosé rephrased what her dad said to her about being 25 and regret about "didn't try anything", i saw you pointed to yourself. i mean – if you think that way, you're not alone. im with you, and i bet there's a lot more people with us on this.

Anna

I really love this documentary because it gave us a perspective from them personally and I gain more respect for them generally with their actions and thoughts. And I love your reactions to this. And people can really be mean toward idols and get harsher as people recognize more to kpop but we always need to remind ourselves that they are human and they cannot be happy and perfect every day at every hour.

My post got deleted :/ but I was saying how I joined patreon just for this and I will most likely watch your other content if I have time :) I’m really glad you were able to become more exposed to Blackpink from this doc & I think that it really has connected us to them on an even more intimate level. I’m guessing that you don’t have a lot of free time but when you get the chance & you haven’t already, definitely check out the other songs on their first full album. Their songs all have a powerful messages that just speaks to the work they’ve been talking about & it goes to show everything they’ve put into this. Love listening to your insights & hearing your reactions! Thanks for showing them loving & providing content! :)

Reading the comments made me realize that i'm not the only one who subscribed to patreon for the first time to watch this blackpink documentary reaction lmao. I really wanna see Jeff react to Blackpink Jisoo's upcoming 2021 Kdrama called "Snowdrop". Its one of the most highly anticipated kdrama in 2021 because of the casts and the production team. The previous work of the director and the writer was the viral drama "Sky Castle" two years ago it broke the record for the highest ratings in kdrama history. Snowdrop will be the follow up to that hit, so everybody is tuning in! I hope you consider this Jeff!
