Patreon is having technical difficulties embedding new and recent videos. I have contacted them and won't be hearing back until Monday as it's the weekend. It is with trust that I am sharing the direct link to this reaction video :) I will be deleting this link/video file once Patreon sorts out the Vimeo problem and re-embed the new upload on a new post. Thank you so much for your understanding!

EDIT: Patreon has fixed the Vimeo problem. Click here to watch the video.

"he has a very idol face" lol that's seung-hoon for you. he is a member of Winner. my ranks were team just jerk, then Hoya (i actually liked that they didn't focus on doing tricks, I've never been a fan of any dance performance who relied too much on tricks and barley dances...unless it's well balanced out.) i like that they stayed focused on the dancing/musicality). then seung-hoons team

i'm not a dancer but watching this show makes me want to start dancing haha

You know H.O.T’s Worrier Decedents from Road to Kingdom. Oneus used a remixed version for their 2nd performance

I am pretty sure that Hoya did talk to his team members and in some of the clips u can see him with them in the practice + the team members said that Hoya supported them and talked to them a lot so he wasn't doing nothing. Actually Korean shows cut a lot of content from these episodes because of the time so thats why u can't see all of the judges talking and Hoya talked about this in a show and he said that in 1st episode he talked a lot but they cut it all and showed him as if he can't speak well lol

haha definitely at least try! even just for fun! so even if you don’t end up liking it then at least you tried 😁

ya i saw the clips but i assumed those were after the session that we saw (after the 2-week mark and in the week before taping). from what i understand the assessment session we saw was 2 weeks in like what hoya said (it’s been 2 weeks and they have a week to go). so i think my disappointment was more on that there was no check-in even after the first week.

milky

thanks for another reaction Jeff!

BaoziBang

You have seen Warrior's Descendent twice! The NCT/WayV Babies danced to it on Knowing Bros and Oneus did it for Road to Kingdom!

actually most of the comments given by judges are much longer and detailed but since it is a show, they edited it to a point that it feels like the judges only gave positive feedback or the good ones. there are actually longer clips of the judges comments on youtube but they are not subbed though

I think some of the teams with contestants constantly away are teams with members who're active in performance groups. Like the guy who was in Amsterdam, he's part of a pro (if i remember correctly) team and they had scheduled performances overseas. The girl in Gikwang's team that went to Japan was in a similar situation if I remember correctly. I think all judges make comments for every perf but they kind of edit it for time, and air only comments from 2-3 judges per perf. And then they don't want to air comments from the same judges all the time (balance airtime for the judges in the broadcast). So they may have cut out comments which we may have found interesting. Some judges (esp the idols) may be careful about saying anything negative as well lest they attract hate (especially if they commented on teams led by other idols)...I remember Feeldog got some hate for some of his comments (in the next ep I think) when this first aired. It's tough for the judges too (;´・ω・)

How did your audition go? Did you get casted? And don't worry if you have to move around tge publishing dates for your reaction videos. We can wait a day or two if that fits better for you :)

One thing that might seem unusual for us is the Korean educational calendar. Instead of having one large chunk of "summer break," first term is March thru July and second term is August thru February. So in addition to professional commitments, this makes filming even more difficult for teenagers... You can infer the contestants must have a lot of parental support then b/c working around the korean school calendar is a big challenge.

I think the coaches also had to find their place within the show, like what their role really was and how involved they wanted to/could be. Watching the episodes for a second time with you, it definitely feels like they didn't know how to approach the whole thing for the first two weeks/the first performance. Also it seemed like the show pushed for the kids to choreograph for themselves, with the coaches only giving advice and helping with polishing everything - which seems fair, since the teams with a professional choreographers would've had a much bigger advantage and it's a show about teenage dancers and their talents after all. Hoya definitely became one of the most involved/invested coaches throughout the show and gave his everything for these kids, even though he couldn't provide them with a big fancy dance studio (in fact Team Hoya and Team Gikwang had the smallest practice rooms) or presents, since he had parted way with his group Infinite and his label just the year before. The kids really meant the world to him and he even performed with them after the show (filling in for Jisung parts, since he couldn't join them). So yeah. You will definitely see a change in all the coaches after the first "battle". Like some others already commented, a lot of these kids were part of bigger dance crews that performed and participated in competitions worldwide - things they couldn't simply miss or reschedule. NCT Dream also had just released "We Go Up" and Jisung was extremly busy. You get a small glimpse of that in the segment before the ace performance of Team Hoya. Generelly I think the first two weeks were pretty tough on the teenagers, who probably didn't know how to prioritize between something for them (this show and all the opportunities it could bring) and something for their crew or the group of friends, who were their safe haven until then. And just the heads up: if you're anything like me (and after seeing you watch Hit The Stage with the same frustrations as me it's a safe bet) you'll go by J-Blacks points and ignore pretty much anything else voting wise. He seems to be the most unbiased one that goes by dance merit first and overall performance second.

oh that’s unfortunate they’re not subbed. i would’ve loved to have looked at them after!

jeffavenue

oh damnn. that’s unfortunate they can’t be truly honest cause as performers, we want to be able to grow and hearing feedback (both constructive and positive) from top entertainers would be sooo amazing

jeffavenue

thanks for understanding! i haven’t heard back yet. but i’ve been doing this for 6 years and it’s a tough tough world. not to mention the roles i’ve been auditioning for are supposed to be 30+ and my genes ain’t there yet LOL just not a lot of roles in the mid to late 20s right now.

jeffavenue

ohhhh i see. damn i got research more about this cause this is so fascinating!

jeffavenue

ahhh. ya i guess with these shows it’s definitely conforming to many factors that relate to the show. i think my emotions got the best of me this episode LOL i will be more reflective next episode about the differences etc. i can’t wait to see more of how these coaches and participants grow within the show. it’s quite interesting!
