A quivering breath danced past her lips.

The scientist, diminished and dwindled, but exultant all the same wrapped her hands around the familiar doorknob of her bedroom. The experience was tantalizing as the metal filled the smaller space of her palm, the woman having to exert a fraction more strength than usual to turn it.

There was a click, and Sophie pulled back the veil.

Light poured into the bedroom, just as the larger hallway emerged before her. The shrunken woman stepped into the familiar denizens and strode with a confidence unbecoming of her stature. Every step was a validation of all her efforts, and her brilliance. Her eyes flickered to the study - inside was the much smaller Jenna and Maisie. She considered visiting them, but thought better of it. This was Sophie's moment and she didn't want to share it with anyone.

Not yet at least.

As her bare feet padded down the hall, the sleepshirt turned dress drifted to and fro against her form. From a distance, the redhead might be confused for a young girl but as she moved the material hugged her frame, her curves silhouetted by the garment.

Sophie found joy swelling within her shrunken self, which was a feeling she hadn't felt in some time. All the stress and weight of her work, and the professional plight she found herself in - had burdened her mental health. However, in this moment, as she opened the door into her living room; it was as though those problems had themselves been shrunk.

The living room was bigger. She was smaller. It was delightful.

The prattling and pestering of her two shrunken visitors; the rancour they felt towards their new statures. Sophie barely understood it, especially feeling as elated as she did now. She knew she should take a more scientific approach to her new size, gather data, record findings... but the emotion of this moment overwhelmed such academic concerns.

The shrunken woman stepped into the center of the room, and stretched her arms wide, joy beaming on her face. In the din of night, the scientist permitted herself to experience a measure of happiness.

Her gaze traced the darkened room around her with grin, she wanted to try a few things...
