Rotgrind - The Cosmology Primer (Patreon)

Let’s Get (Meta)physical!

Today I’m really excited to present a more narrative (get it?) guide on one of the questions we keep getting about the world of Tyne: the cosmology.

Since Rotgrind is a very different setting than other TTRPGs, we wanted to take the opportunity to explain something that has an important role in many games: the cycle of souls. This primer provides a complete overview of how a person lives and dies and lives again in our setting. It also gives a review of the various planes of existence, and some documentation regarding specific beliefs on how the cosmology works.

This is VERY experimental, as it’s a document that is written by a point of view character, and contains related documents written by other NPCs (some of whom you may recognize from our campaigns). It’s a way for us to present setting information in a more lore-focused way, which is something we heard loud and clear in prior feedback.

Also, ToTellStories did an absolutely SMASHING job with a full page piece of art in this, showing the cycle of souls within the setting. It’s something we pulled inspiration from real world philosophical artwork, and I think it just absolutely fits what we have. As always, SaltyJub and Skelebean also provides some great accompanying art that you’ve probably seen in some of our other shows.

I am very excited about this document as it helps our supporters better understand the cycle of life, and gives our readers a better understanding of the world.

This also allowed us to introduce a concept of faith based more on a common belief in something, rather than a single entity granting power. I enjoy these concepts and preference as it allows players who want to play a faith based character empower themselves through a collective faith in a perspective their character strongly believes in, instead of calling upon a single entity.

Once again the team has done an amazing job, along with all of our supporters enabling us to keep working on this project. Thank you to everyone for your support!
