Here's another work in progress look at the new animation! I must apologize for the poor rendering quality in advance, as I'm currently traveling and only packed a lightweight laptop, means I had to render this through its onboard graphics chip, which really struggled with some features. For this playblast I had to remove some vegetation and turn off all the shadowing, which gives everything a rather last gen look. There's also a lot of textures missing since I left my texture hard drive at home as well, kind of the reason why Zoe's pants are completely white. Nevertheless it should still show the animation quite decently, even if it's still missing some fine tuning and a few things like bulges and deformations!

I'll make sure that the next previews will be rendered with all of those features on again, for now I just brought a minimal setup since it's more than enough to animate on. Will post more progress soon! (:

Vision

Can already tell - even with less detail - that you've been putting a lot of effort into the smaller details to really add another level of quality. It's especially obvious that you're making far more use of the newer rigging/physics additions to the model (e.g. breast physics :p), which is amazing. Hope traveling doesn't wear you down too much. Looking forward to more WIP posts! :)

@Vision describes it perfectly .... good work ;)

May I make a life study note? When humans swivel their eyes, especially from far left to far right we automatically blink (or often half blink) very quickly to avoid overloading our brains with movement detail. It's something Henson worked into the performance for their more advanced animatronic characters which helped to make them more natural and subconsciously trick us into seeing them as characters not robots with rubber faces. Vintage Donald Duck also suffered from pupils rolling around in his head until Disney picked up on it and added the natural blink to stop him looking so creepy.

Avon

[crap, hit enter too soon] - I've mentioned it to a number of animators so I thought I'd drop the note here. It's worth just watching people on TV to see when they blink as it's something we just naturally, visually expect to see and can really make a character's performance seem more natural. All that goes out the window when someone is moving their eyes intentionally for effect, usually menace and the reason we, actors and animated characters are drawn like that is purely because it looks unnerving. ABSOLUTELY LOVE your work and this is in no way meant to be a complaint. (I used to be an art teacher so it comes with the territory)

It's great to see that you're back! Looking very good as always so far :)

Question will this be a micro or same size animation?

FatMMD

Neither... Well she is eating bugs so I guess micro? New animation gonna highlight a lot of maw play from what I read over.

Thanks a lot! Super glad you noticed how her breasts are being pushed up by her arms! And yeah, this time I'm actually traveling to have a vacation, but I sorta just end up working all day anyways. :D

CakeInferno

Thanks so much! I'm well aware of that effect and have actually used it many times in prior animations. For this sequence though, I've skipped the blink intentionally for the menacing effect you described. The movement time is also a bit longer, as realistically eye movements happen within a single frame, even when they're brought all the way to the side. For dramatic movements like these I usually go with 2 - 3 frames. I remember getting this from watching Pixar films in slow motion, which often have insane levels of facial animation. Maybe I'll get there in another 10 years or so! (:

Great job, it already looks so cool. May I ask if this animation will have voice once again? It just made the quality of the last jump up a few levels. It really was amazing. And although it might be too early to ask this, but do you already have an idea on when you want the animation to be finished? I have birthday in August, it would be great as a birthday present :P

Monopolus

I can't wait for this!

CakeInferno

August is the plan! This animation might actually not have any voice work, or just very little of it. Mostly because it wouldn't fit the tone of the animation so well. But I'm still far from finished, so I'll still see how that turns out! (:

uhh I like her face after she gulped
