I loved this one overall, but my main criticism would be that I agree with what it sounds like you were implying in your final thoughts about some aspects of the plot and Tar's character/relationships being kept too ambiguous/opaque to the viewer for too much of the film's length.

NGL, I honestly wasn't feeling this for the first hour or so, but once the reveal that the former student she preyed on died killing herself, things started to move at a brisk pace and I began to understand what the movie was about. Seeing Tar's perfect, controlled life begin to fall apart became a lot more poignant when you spent a whole hour getting used to it.
