here's my theory about Stanton: I think she's Athena (Aceso's daughter who was against what she did and called the police on her after she poisoned those people). I think she definitely had the kids' best interests at heart because she was the one who got the kids out of the house after the police came for her mother. I actually only pieced together that she's Athena after watching the show a couple times because it's quite subtle, but after watching your reaction, I'm almost positive. as for the old man and woman, I'm pretty sure they are Stanley Oscar Freeland and his wife (from the news article) and I would wager an educated guess that they did some kind of ritual to try and stay alive longer and somehow ended up becoming those entities that eat people's remaining years.
