Small point: It wasn't blood on Eddie's hands, he was just wearing a lot of rings.

Watching this the second time through, I'm just marveling at the editing and production design. The transitions and pacing are so good, as you've noted. Also, as someone who worked on a school paper back in the day, the stuff in the school paper office (waxer, headline setter, light tables, drawing boards) was all super authentic. And the roller rink and video stores--so many little details done perfectly.
