So my take on the meaning behind the ending is this: Marty letting Jonah kill Mel signifies the fact that their family will forever be trapped in this never-ending situation, that they will never be free, they will continue working for the FBI/Navarro Cartel until they probably all die. As for Ruth's arc being ruined, it's another way of showing that everyone the Byrde's care about or work with gets hurt or killed.

I had the same reaction at the end. I just kind of laughed. Like damn. Sure it has a meaning but that was abrupt. Overall, loved the show as a whole and really enjoyed the final season but part 2 felt a bit rushed towards the end. Ruth dying in the final 10 minutes? No time to process.
