It's really amazing that a show this far into its run can still serve something up that genuinely surprises viewers. And I agree, this episode was a great reminder of just how good of an actor DeVito is. That last shot of Frank's face never fails to move me.

i kind of miss when Mac's dad wanted to bond with Mac and Charlie, would be cool to see him eventually come around again. He just went full evil too early

Great reaction, this one's been high on my list of awaited episodes! It might've already been mentioned and I missed it, but Charlie, Rob and Glenn released the first 5 episodes of their Always Sunny podcast over the last week, where they're going through every episode one by one from the start and discussing the background and general stories behind each of them, after doing a fresh rewatch themselves. You should definitely check them out if you get some free time!

Always get choked up watching the dance sequence. It's by far the most thoughtful and deep episode the Sunny crew has done. How this episode didn't get an Emmy nomination is truly mind-boggling to me.

Yep! I LOVE that sequence, it's remarkable. I *do* understand if someone doesn't like it in the form of Always Sunny, because it is true, it is sort of out of character. It's raw, real, and serious, and I don't mean it's different like Frank's Brother episode, I mean it's totally different from Always Sunny, in my opinion. BUT, I think it is so fantastic that it gets a pass, and a large nod of approval. I don't think things like this should happen often on this show, but, they absolutely nailed it here, and what Rob (Mac) accomplished in the time span he did it in, is amazing. EDIT: His father's response was still consistent with Sunny, though.

Lol, when Frank is injured for some reason it is always so funny. This one killed me, and also when they were freaking bleeding him out to death and he was deathly pale. BTW: Apparently Rob (Mac) learned his routine amazingly quick, while being ultra busy with shooting/making the show, plus his very strict diet and workout regime, etc. Professional dancers involved were praising him greatly and blown away.

As you said, there aren’t many places during the show that I’ve cried, but this one always gets me. Another few that got me emotional: when dee gives birth in the show, when the gang gives dee the steak and they take the picture all together at the end of the episode, and when Dennis gets the rocket launcher. Such great, great moments in sunny—but this one makes me cry every time 😭
