I really love the writing around Christianity vs. Islam and religiosity vs. atheism. I find the characters immensely believable and I can only imagine that every group in these discussions feel represented fairly. I certainly felt that way. And that just adds to my admiration for the writing. Embracing these deep, long conversations about belief is a minefield they've navigated effortlessly so far.

I'm not religious at all and never read the bible so feel free to correct me, but I remember reading somewhere that angels in the bible are not all these beautiful winged man-like creatures, but also somewhat weird and terrifying and people who came across them, feared them at first! That's what came into my mind first thing when Pruitt thought the creature was an angel. It makes sense why he thought that. Even though he was terrified at first, he was saved (and made young again), so it must be an angel in his mind.
