What JYP said in Nizi project has really stuck with me. Talent doesn't make you a star, believing you are a star does. I saw Itzy on Knowing Brothers and Chaeryeong has some serious attitude now which she didn't have on Sixteen. She knows she's a star. Also remember hindsight is 20/20. We know Twice so well now that imagining what it was like to know nothing about them is impossible.

It really annoys me how these YOUNG trainees were judged on their modelling skills before they even got to show their talents. It's ridiculous. I'm sure most of them have never had any experience with it and would most definitely improve over time. I also think they were wayy too harsh as too much criticism and humiliation can really knock down a person's confidence. i know they wanted the best for the girls but there are nicer ways to convey a message. this show makes me soooo frustrated.

Haven't finished the episode, but needed to vent because this photographer is raising my blood pressure. I get fired up every time I think of how she treated Jihyo and the girls. Most of her feedback feels like personal attacks versus constructive criticism.

My favorite photos were definitely Mina, Jihyo, Jeong, Chaeyoung, Somi because I like how she worked with her item, being the fish. I think the necklace this it’s just a psychological thing. Like if you don’t have the necklace, it shows what you want but when you do have it, it’s what you want to keep. When you had then lost it, it’s makes a mental note on why you weren’t good enough to keep it. I think that’s the worst than them moving up to major or moving down to minor without anything. It’s kinda like an extra push of motivation. Sixteen is definitely something onces don’t talk about. It’s memories that Twice don’t want to remember or relive. We don’t even say the name and instead we say 15+1. It’s like Voldemort, it’s he who shall not be named and unfortunately that’s why a lot of onces don’t like JYP or blame him when things go wrong. Yeah if you’re on Twitter and you mentioned Sixteen, other than you posting your reacts, 9/10 you will get jumped lol. G, you HAVE to watch Nayeon’s updated Santa Tell Me cover, it’s soooooo good!! Also the behind video of the cover, it’s honestly amazing. Definitely something a “new” once like you should watch, not that your new anymore lol. I think this cover was really shows her vocal range and her insane vocals as a whole. Not anything bad or anything but in Jeongyeon’s practice performance, Jihyo and Nayeon are laughing because they weren’t expecting Jeongyeon to pull anything like that but also they’re literally her best friends on the show lol. I would definitely laugh at my best friend if I was them. I just felt the need to clarify this lol. Honestly I feel for Minyoung, I’m a dancer and I’ve performed for crowds of hundreds of people (the majority in my high school years). I recently became diagnosed with anxiety that has forced me to take a break until fall. I also beat myself up over my mistakes, even if it’s as small as not putting in my contacts before I go on stage and have to dance without my glasses to something big like twisting my ankle on stage and not continuing to dance. I can literally feel what she’s going through. I can literally see the thoughts swimming around her mind. That was a risky song because Alicia Keys has a very unique voice but I personally think she did well, she definitely did better than Somi vocal wise. I totally understood why she needed that few minutes to cry. I also made a mistake, I had said episode 4 was the dreaded one you needed to watch out for but it’s actually episode 6. You have time to prepare yourself lol.

I agree with all your decisions on victors except the triple threat match. I'd switch Sana to 2nd place & Dahyun to last place. Sana's routine is more memorable to me than Dahyun's. And that hurts me to say because I bias Dahyun but the charm of Sana really pulled me into her performance. That's just my opinion

Sixteen answered some questions for me about the Kpop industry, because it has such a sunny appearance and the performances look so effortless. This episode is where I started to learn that Kpop is filled with a lot of people who are very intense and work harder than everyone else. You see Jihyo and Dahuyn absolutely furious about losing. You see Sana not smiling, absolutely locked in concentration analyzing a competitor's performance. Everyone on Sixteen is dead serious about making it, and they probably have no safety net. This show is a churning cauldron of raw emotion, talent, awkwardness, and charm.

thank you for uploading! can't help to ask is there no other subbed version of sixteen online? it's frustrating they miss out a lot of content and the translation is a bit confusing. feel like we are just able to understand 50% of the content. i actually watched the show two years ago when i started to stan twice. but i forgot most of the details so it still bothered me when the subs are not showing up lol

behind the story: that damn CJ Mnet Producer made an apology to Dahyun after the whole series ended. he admitted that he've edited on purposely that he was trying dahyun to look like she was resisting come forward after the competition against Jungyeon. at that time many k-netz cursed Dahyun because it kinda looked that she was resisting to come forward when jungyeon called her to the minor group, but it was actually evilly edited scene by the pd of the tv-show.

There are hardly any recorded footage or on the record stuff of TWICE talking about the painful stuff from Sixteen. Sure they remember the funny stuff like Dahyun’s eagle dance, Sana’s spring roll or Jeongyeon’s psycho performance but other than that, they don’t talk about it. Too harsh, too traumatized. Onces don’t even call it Sixteen anymore, we just say 15+1 - it’s that bad.

This show was meant to prepare them for the real world but this method is way too harsh. JYP was too harsh on Tzuyu up to the middle of the show btw. So his comment on her picture and performance was her driving force. We were also hoping that Minyoung would have her own career after this but too bad.

Great episode! Even though I think I’ve watched this show several times it’s always fun to see how other people react or what you think about certain performances. The next episode was a game changer for me on how I viewed several of the members. You’ll obviously love Mina’s performance as it’s one of my favorites of the whole show. But Jihyo and Chaeyoung really bring their A game for the rest of competition. There is a lot that goes on in this show that I don’t agree with especially with the harsh criticism of such young girls. Those types of word can stick with a girl for the rest of her life. It was nice to see that I was not the only one having such a strong reaction to the topic of Jihyo’s weight. Things unfortunately do not get easier after this episode and it makes me sad to think about you watching the next few episodes which are the most difficult. But I just have to remind myself that without this show there is no Twice and none of us would be here watching you! Also We pour one out for Chaeyeon as she definitely didn’t deserve to be the first one eliminated, but we can feel satisfied that she continued to work hard and improve and now has debuted in a very successful group!

In case you haven't done any research on the two guest judges in this mission; I think you would become a big fan of both! SanE is a very popular and respected rapper in the kpop world; with a style that I think (based on what I've seen catches your attention in the last five months of following you) you will be very into! JYP's first girl group WONDER GIRLS got me into kpop in August 2012; and SanE (who was still signed to JYPE at the time; even though I don't think he was during the taping of this show) use to interact with them a lot; so that's how I got to know him! He also had the reputation of being the "bad boy" of rap; but as you see in this episode, he has a personality that really draws you in; as well as he's always very supportive of other artists especially rookies and other newcomers! He has also been a guest judge or mentor on a couple other survival shows such as SHOW ME THE MONEY which is a very popular rap battle competition; as well as the host of the first two seasons of its all female spinoff called UNPRETTY RAPSTAR (which was also a very competitive show you might want to check out) Ga In on the other hand is one of the pioneers of the SEXY side of kpop! She is the maknae of the second generation girl group BROWN EYED GIRLS (whom are still active today); and let me say, when it comes to pushing and testing boundaries, Ga In is on a level above all others! When you start on your new set of kpop artists to learn about (or on your upcoming Throwback Thursdays), you should really add Brown Eyed Girls to your list as well as checking out her solo stuff (most of which gives new meaning to the term "controversial")!

Yeah, I’m shocked when they called Jihyo fat. But as an artist or, in their situation, trainee who are about to be an artist, appearance is really important because most people look for it first rather than other aspects. Anyway, glad Jihyo made it and she indeed is prettier than sixteen period.

If you pay close attention to Minyoung singing you will notice she is off-key a lot and unstable. She looks so sad all the time due to her lack of confidence, and it's hard to watch. Even when she is doing well there is so much sadness in her eyes. I always feel so bad for her when I watch Sixteen because she is such a talented vocalist but she completely lost confidence in herself.

It was announced yesterday that Chaeyeon's group IZ*ONE will also have a comeback with their third Korean mini album on June 15th; so that might be a good starting point for a journey into IZ*ONE so you can also follow Chaeyeon's growth since SIXTEEN as well!

One of the first things I learned when I got into KPOP was that Koreans have insanely high standards when it comes to physical appearances. The boys are supposed to be muscular but also very thin and with abs. The girls are supposed to be stick skinny but also with abs as well as a teeny waist for that "perfect hourglass figure." I remember Tzuyu was actually forced to measure her waist on a TV show (TV Idol? Idol something, with the 2 guys that are kinda creepy imo), and everyone was swooning over the fact that her waist was 17"... that's almost scary skinny. My own waist is 31" and I'm still considered slim for US standards. Their looks are held to the utmost importance, because in their eyes, talent can always be improved. So can looks, but you have to work even harder on your looks than your talent, in most cases. So when I see idols (like Hwasa or all of Mamamoo for that matter) who genuinely have confidence and aren't faking it, I highly admire them. Confidence is a hard thing to obtain in Korea, from what I've seen so far.

Things turned out well for Chaeyeon. Her group IZ*ONE is huge. I think their new comeback album broke the sales record More & More JUST set a few weeks ago. The Youtuber Zaer Apollo did an interesting video explaining how the Korean military is largely responsible for their popularity due to servicemen not being able so have cell phones. The military only get to see women on TV and only during a brief window of nightly downtime. IZ*ONE's survival show "Produce 48" fit right into that spot and was apparently watched by every member of the Korean military.

This was the moment when I fell in love with Chaeryeong... I knew she didn't make the cut so I was really sad and angry at the end when JYP announced that there was "another member the group needed". Obviously Momo was the best choice but just take a moment and think about the implication for Chaeryeong who was the only member who wasn't evaluated at all in the last episode... aah... I'm gonna talk about it under the last video... But just seeing her cry makes me really sad. I'm so happy she's successful with Itzy right now. But back in 2015 I didn't even have her with Itzy... Edit: oh... and SanE is literally like us commenting on the show XD I like him!

The first week sales record of IZONE is currently top of girl group. However, #1 of total sales record of girl group is M&M. I'm not sure where you get those info about military, but both Sixteen and PD48 was aired 23:00 and except few, they should sleep at that time. There were only few exceptions like Chan Ho Park's MLB games, Pak Se-ri's golf games, and World Cup. If people watch TV show at that time, it means they broke military law. People could watch rerun of the shows the next day. Yes, girls groups are goddess in the army, but most of those goddess are current girl group, not trainees. In addition, the highest viewer ratings of Sixteen was higher that the highest viewer ratings of PD48. Actually average PD48 viewer rating is quite lower than rest PD series.
