Third Arc (Fallen Heart) - 158. The Royal Couple Arrival IV

"I don't think it will be that fast. Between me and her... we still have a lot of things to settle," Angel replied. He knew the problem wasn't only about their feelings. But also about both the kingdom's interest and his people's acceptance.

He could make Rose his wife solely based on his own decision, but making her his queen was another matter. If he made her his queen without nobles and people's support, Rose would be in trouble in the future.

She would have a hard time with a lot of things, especially since no one wanted to support her. Her case was also different from when he took over Euphorion. Indeed, he took over the throne by force, but the late king Xenos was not a good king, so most people and nobles wanted a change from the start.

"I see..." said Frost. He didn't say much since he knew Angel was focusing his concentration on the reports. It was clear since Angel quickly returned his attention to the paper after answering Frost. He knew Angel was a bit nervous and uneasy since they would involve Rose in their next plan.

"Have you done what I ordered?" Angel asked after a short silence. A sign that he had returned to his work mode.

"I did, Your Majesty. I have added some spies near King Eudon. There is nothing suspicious about the people around him," answered Frost. Since Scarlet Stone Castle was filled with rats, Angel ordered Frost to put some spies to eliminate them secretly.

"Keep an eye on him. There might be more of them," he ordered.

"Yes, Your Majesty, " Frost said.

Another silence followed. Frost opened his mouth as if he wanted to say something, but then he stopped.

But Angel noticed it.

"Do you want to say something? Just say it," he said while examining the report sheet in his hand.

Frost bent his head apologetically and took a couple of deep breaths before speaking.

"Your Majesty, this is just my curiosity so please forgive my impudence. I know you have worked hard for your relationship, but wouldn't it be simpler if you manipulated her with your spell?" Of course, what he meant was Angel's Evil Eye spell. He realized he asked this from an elemental spirit's point of view and it was a rude question, that's why he hesitated to say it.

Upon Frost's question, Angel lowered the report and looked at him. His surprise cracked his cold expression, but he knew Frost said it because he looked at it from an elemental spirit's point of view. On the other hand, Frost's question was a sign that he started to pay attention to Angel's feelings. No, not only Angel but human feelings.

"I don't want a living doll as my wife. I want her to love me sincerely. Accepting me as Angelus Raizel, not as King of Euphorion who has conquered her kingdom, not for returning the favor for helping her," he explained.

"Is that important for humans, Your Majesty?" Frost asked again. Angel's personality was similar to his yet after he saw how Angel acted around Rose, Frost realized they were different.

A soft smile bloomed on Angel's lips.

"It is... Especially for me. Because it reminds me that I'm still a human." He remembered how Rose looked at him. The way she looked at him with those eyes full of hope and expectation. He knew she wanted to trust him and believed in him.

That was what he needed most. And he knew he could give it to her.

"I know you're worried about me, Frost. But I can't use magic on her. I won't betray her or make her do anything against her will," he added.

Frost was silent, he didn't know what to say. But one for sure, he was happy that his master had found happiness.

"Thank you for your explanation, Your Majesty," he bowed.

Angel put his hand on Frost's shoulder and gripped it.

"Frost, from all four elemental spirits, you are the only one who is closest to me. I'm glad you're interested in human emotions and feelings. And more than all, thank you for being my best friend."
