Third Arc (Fallen Heart) - 63. Bloodstain on The Towel I
The night was getting late and White Moon Castle was getting quieter. Like yesterday, in the king's chamber, Rose was sitting on the side of the bed, waiting for Angel. But this time instead of the sexy dress like yesterday, she wore a normal sleep dress.
Indeed, the maids had prepared her and covered her body with fragrances to please the king, to arouse him to be precise. But somehow, there was no nervousness in her. She felt much more relaxed tonight, either because of what happened to them at dinner last night or because her dress wasn't as sexy as yesterday.
As for Angel, even though he was already wearing his sleepwear, he was out for a while to pick up something important. He couldn't order the maids or anyone since neither of them should know about this. Including Cley and Claire.
As soon as the door opened and Angel entered his chamber, Rose stood up from the side of the bed.
"Your--- Angel," she greeted him with a slight bow. Her eyes fell on the king who was wearing his sleepwear with a night robe covering it.
Seeing Rose's expression, which was much more relaxed than the first night, Angel approached her in a casual step. His hands removed his night robe and placed it on the sofa.
"That dress suits you better than the previous one." It was more proper and it showed her status as royalty. But he couldn't deny if he married her not because of a contract, he preferred her sexy dress.
"Thank you. I also prefer this one," she said with a smile. Then her hand gestured to the bed that had been neatly arranged.
"I know you are tired. Shall we go to sleep now?" she said without further ado. It was a bit formal, but since she wasn't sure Angel wanted to talk about anything else after their long conversation in the dining hall, she decided to go to sleep.
He stopped in front of her.
"Sleep?" He chuckled.
"Not yet, Rose. I still have other important things to prepare."
"What is it?" she asked in confusion.
His face was close to hers and an evil smile was on his face.
"Your virgin blood," he whispered.
His words made Rose's blood freeze for a moment. Her tense was clearly visible on her face and her heart beat fast. Didn't he agree to take it slow? Then why did he change his mind?
"Are you trying to go back on your own words?" she reminded him.
He answered with another chuckle before he turned his face away and revealed a small bottle filled with animal blood that he had just picked up from the kitchen.
"Don't worry. I've prepared it. But I need your advice. Should I use it on your dress or the bed sheet?" he asked. Since he had no experience with this he decided to ask her, as a doctor she should know a bit about this, right?
Rose's eyes fell on the small bottle in Angel's hand. Her hand took it and opened it. As her nose could smell the scent, she immediately knew it was blood. In that instant, she felt calmer as she caught on to what Angel's plan was. But there was one thing that stuck in her heart.
"If you use this... Isn't that the same as announcing that I did it with you?" she said in hesitation. She knew it was his purpose but this was a temporary contract marriage. How can he break it if what people know was he had slept with her?
"That's the point. Everyone should know I've slept with you. We are married out of love. Wouldn't it be weird if I didn't touch you at all?" Angel explained. He was sure Rose should have known that this was part of the plan, yet why would she ask him again?
"Yes... But, our marriage is not a real one. If--- Just if, one day I decide to break the contract. Won't people think I'm not a virgin anymore?" Her hesitation was getting clearer. She knew she had to say this carefully since this was a what-if situation, not a real thing. This could change. But at least she had to make her way out if she found out Angel wasn't she thought.
"Don't worry. If you change your mind I'll explain everything in a formal letter," he reassured her. Even though it sounded like a rejection to his ears, he knew it was all in accordance with the agreement.
That didn't sound like a good guarantee for Rose, it could be a way out. But then, he spoke again.
"But just to warn you, I'm not thinking of letting you go either." Again, he said it straight to the point.
