Third Arc (Fallen Heart) - 31. Assassins in The Wedding Party II

As the third dance accompanied Angel and Rose small talk, his gaze was still in caution. He knew since the previous attack failed, the remaining assassins had no other choice but to attack both of them head-on. Unless they wanted to abandon their task. Unfortunately, that was a rare case.

When his attention focused on some suspicious-looking guests and servants, he stopped his conversation.

"Did you find them?" Rose quickly realized that was the only thing that could make Angel's expression change. But of course, she was not looking at them. Her gaze remained on Angel to avoid everyone's suspicion.

"I think..." Angel replied, Unfortunately, he couldn't be sure before they attacked or showed their real intentions. Still, since they kept looking at the royal couple as if searching for an opportunity. The possibility was very high. Also, even though his black devil soldiers, being around that place, didn't mean he could be careless.

He glanced at Flare and she had also realized it, but she couldn't do anything before they made a move. The hall was full of guests, they could take hostages easily. On one hand, he also couldn't let them ruin the party. It would affect Euphorion's reputation. On the other hand, if they caught the wrong person, it would also destroy his reputation. So he had to handle it with caution.

After thinking deeply for a moment, he came up with an idea. But this idea was a little risky. Moreover... This idea would put Rose in danger.

"Do you need anything from me?" said Rose as soon as she noticed Angel's glance. But after seeing his gaze, Rose immediately realized Angel was up to something and that needed her help. It was just that he hesitated to say it.
"Tell me what's your plan?" she said straight to the point.

"Do you mind if we become bait one more time?" he said. He honestly hated doing this, but there was no better bait than both of them. Besides, he wanted to finish everything by tonight. The longer this problem continued, it would only get worse.

"I don't mind." Although Rose hesitated a bit since she felt insecure about her state, especially since she didn't have a weapon. She still agreed.
"I told you I'd help your plan to the end and I'll keep my word," she added. She knew that trained assassins were not something to be underestimated since history had recorded, several kings died due to assassinations. Still, she had already made her choice ever since she saw Ivetta's name on the list.

"Very well." Actually, it was him who didn't want it.

Angel waved his hand at Flare, asking her to come closer.
"Are you aware of those 'killer rats'?" he said as soon as she was near him.

"I noticed that and ordered our soldiers to watch over them. As soon as they tried to do something, we would arrest them."

"We'll lure them," said Angel.

"We?" asked Flare, asking for an explanation as to who he meant.

"Me and Rose," he pointed. Although he could catch a hint of objection from Flare's face, she couldn't say anything.
"I need you to stay here and protect Rose until I tell you to get out. We will take care of it as quietly as possible," he explained his plan. The assassins shouldn't have squandered this opportunity and took it, whether they realized it was a trap or not.

"Yes, Your Majesty," Flare replied with a heavy heart. The only thing she could do was make sure it wasn't in vain.

Angel turned his gaze to Rose and held her hand gently.
"Rose, I'll be out for a minute. I'll be right back," he said with a smile. Unlike their previous whispers, this time Angel said it in a louder voice. As he expected, several guests' attention shifted to them including those assassins.

Rose replied by holding his hand and smiled.
"I'll wait for you." Even though it was an act, her gaze said otherwise.

After that, Angel descended from the throne and walked towards the exit. His presence split the crowd into two to give him a path and bowed to him. As always he replied to them with a slight nod and moved his legs. In the midst of it, he was able to catch several people immediately separating themselves from the crowd, whether it was his soldiers as well as people he didn't know, showing they had taken his bait.
