Production Update! 7.1.20 (Patreon)
Content
Hello beloved patrons!
While we have had a difficult week, it's never without progress. Here's the newest on our animation journey:
- Storyboard Update: Episode 1 roughs are DONE! And with episode 2 in the works, we research 80/90's composition to refine ep1 in Toon Boom so we can go straight from cleaned boards to animation. Then we'll break down the necessary backgrounds and get painting!
- Book Update: We're happy with chapters 2/10, are in the midst of editing 3 and 4, and continue to write the second half. It's on its way! We're not only excited about telling more West Patch stories like the origins of certain characters, but also to add more to the meta story with Kieth of Kieth Publishing's 'foot notes' throughout. Then we can get started on the 'unpublished' book from Padilly's attic, giving all new insight to what's going on in the West Patch, hopefully lined up to come out with Episode 4!
- Future Videos: With Pumpkin Kid's little art parade uploaded, we'd also like to announce a plan we've had in mind for a while now. While our main attention will always be on producing the series, we'd like to use any spare time we drum up to create some videos on approaching projects like ours and on story writing, since these are topics aligning with the West Patch that are near and dear to our passionate interests and educated backgrounds. While largely pointless to show fans, we hope it can offer a cool look into how we go about making characters, planning our show, and more. We plan on staying on brand and having them be irregularly made as we find opportunities we think can benefit people wanting to do what we're trying to accomplish! Again - priority is on creating the animated web-series.
- Schedule Update: In our original grand to-do list, we had episodes staggered to where we would take a week off from, say, roughing episode 2 animation to storyboard episode 3 and 4, in order to keep everything moving forward. While we'd like to do that in the future, for now we're stepping back and focusing on episode 1 to make sure we like the approach we're taking and can make any desired changes before diving into the series as a whole. This shouldn't make it come out any faster, but we figured we'd let you know how things are shifting.
And with that we keep up the audio cutting grind and advance on episode 1's stages! Any questions, comments, or concerns? Know any storyboard artists who would like to help us? Email us at thewestpatch@gmail.com ! We love hearing from people.
See you next time!
