Story spoilers below, but I thought I'd explain some of what happens early in the chapter, since people hadn't intuited some things I meant to imply. I keep seeing people wishcasting fan theories that are wildly off the mark, and I don't want people to be disappointed that it doesn't play out like they hoped. The story below should give you an idea of where the story is going. If you don't want that, don't read it!

Jessica showed Krystal the satellite footage. Still reeling from the nuclear explosion, her daughters could barely move. Then, barrage of artillery fired on them, causing the sisters to writhe in pain. Blood ran down their backs, and yet Kaylee and Kayla couldn't even find the strength to stand up, let alone fight.

Krystal watched in silent horror. Intellectually, she knew what the military were doing was justified. She knew killing Kaylee would save countless lives. But those were still her daughters, and she couldn't bear to see them in pain. Then, she heard the government man's mocking laughter, and Krystal felt a fury like nothing else in her life. Krystal smashed her handcuffs apart. The guards behind her pointed their guns at Krystal, and so she broke them too.

Krystal ordered the plane to turn around, but the government man told her it wasn't possible. They were too far away now. Even if they had the gas, it would take eight hours to fly back to Los Angeles, and by then it would be too late.

Krystal realized there was only one way to save her daughters. She had to get bigger. Much, much bigger... and could only think of one way to do that. She rushes to the front of the plane, and took the container that held the crystal statue. The container was locked, but Krystal crushed the container in her hand. The crystal, too, shattered, releasing a blinding burst of light.

Pretty big spoiler but fair enough.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you mentioned it would take them 8 hours to turn back around if they had the gas, had they been in the plane for that long? It only seemed like they were in the air for an hour at most.

That's just an off-the-cuff number, maybe it's too high, IDK Kaylee 19 covers probably half an hour to an hour There's a time skip of probably at least an hour in Kaylee 20 after Kayla gets knocked out There's another short time skip between Kaylee 20 and 21, and another of at least an hour somewhere early in Kaylee 21 Really though I mostly needed a time skip because I'm done with night scenes. I'm glad I did it for part 20 but they're a nightmare to do and they make it harder to really show off the scale of the city, especially without city lights (which I thought wouldn't make sense given all the destruction that happened)

Every light has a backup generator, or they all gone solar with local backup generators and local solar genreators.
