I knew when I was working on it that this shot felt like an homage to something, but I couldn't place quite what. 300, maybe? One of the battles from Game of Thrones? Then midway through posting this I finally realized what this was subconsciously inspired by: the first "Witness me!" moment in Fury Road. Same composition and everything. And then I realized the follow-up image even has the same format as the follow-up shot from Fury Road! That movie burrowed it's way deep, deep into my brain.

...or maybe it's just because it's a standard and intuitive way of showing that kind of action. Could be that too!
